July Month in Masks & Mask Empties

Masking is a huge part (and probably my favorite part) of my skincare routine! I try and use them as often as possible as I find they really help moisturize and improve my skin!

This post is a review of all the masks I use each month and mini reviews on all of them - I also consider the Month of Masks my Mask Empties post, because I do not feature my sheet masks in my monthly empties post! You can check out my past Month of Masks here

Here is a look at the masks I used this month:

July 2
The Face Shop 3D Ampoule Mask Sheet Hyaluronic Acid & Colostrum ~ $3. A dual functional care mask where ampoule and mask sheet can both be used in 2 steps
Step 1. Ampoule: A highly enriched ampoule that delivers nutrition and moisture to skin that is damaged from external harmful factors
Step 2. Mask Sheet: Using a new concept 3D sheet, it heightens the adherence of the mask sheet giving a dual function; preventing the loss of moisture and nutrition and creating a moisture barrier which increases the effect of the ampoule creating resilient, firm skin

Hahaha - i'm sorry, but how scary is this mask?! The 3D fit is really bizarre and adds a really scary look! I have tried 3D masks before, but they haven't quite look so scary. I like that this is a 2 step mask, so you apply the ampoule first and then where the mask. I liked the ampoule but I couldn't stand the fit because of the weird chin thing.
Repurchase: No

July 4
Sisley Black Rose Cream Mask ~ full size is 60 ml for $131.93 (this sample is 10 ml for $21.98). Black Rose Cream Mask offers the skin "instant youth". Rich in active anti-aging ingredients (Black Rose, Padina pavonica, and Alkekengi calyx extracts), it immediately gets to work on signs of fatigue and leaves the skin looking youthful and energized. It brings together three actions to restore a luminous complexion and redensified skin in just 10 to 15 minutes: a smoothing and plumping action, a revitalizing action, a softening and hydrating action. Deliciously scented with rose, this soft, creamy mask creates a moment of relaxation and pleasure.

This is a rinse off cream mask - you apply a layer and wipe off the excess after 10-15 minutes. I found after 10 minutes on my skin there was not much to rinse off. This worked good, but man is it expensive!
Repurchase: Probably not for that price!

July 5
Nip and Fab Dragon's Blood Fix Plumping Mask ~ $14.95. An intensely hydrating gel mask combining multiple skin perfecting complexes to plump the look of wrinkles and refine the skin's appearance for a brighter, more youthful looking complexion.

This is a rinse of mask that can also be used as an overnight mask as well! When you apply this mask, it has a nice cooling effect and was a really nice light gel texture. It did not dry or harden on the skin, so rinsing it off was quick and easy! This does have a bit of a strong smell (but I like the scent). If you are interested in seeing a more detailed review of this mask, you can see a past review here
Repurchase: I will keep trying it out before I decide!

July 6
Farmacy Hydrating Coconut Gel Mask "Brightening" (Purple Broccoli) ~ $32 CAN for 3 masks on Sephora, or $24 US for 3 on Boxycharm. This mask helps even skintone and improve overall clarity. Purple broccoli extract delivers a powerful skin clarifying action due to the varietal’s high level of antizymes, which possess antioxidant properties in addition to the benefits of chlorophyll, vitamins and minerals.

I completed a full review on this mask on a Mask Wednesday post - you can see that here! I have talked about Farmacy masks before -  they are AMAZING! They also made my October Favourites! These are a gel mask, but are this amazing this gel that adheres really well to the face and last for quite a long time! These are expensive, but work so well on my skin - I use them as my treat masks!
Repurchase: Yes!

July 7
Lush BB Seaweed Fresh Face Mask ~ $7.95. Created especially to care for sensitive skin, BB Seaweed is a best-seller for its soothing, smoothing effects. No surprises here, it’s packed with none other than the ocean greenery itself! Seven pounds of it in each batch, in fact. This locally-harvested, nutrient-rich seaweed nourishes the skin, while finely ground almonds ever-so-gently exfoliate leaving skin perfectly smooth. We use a generous helpings of aloe vera gel and rose absolute to calm and soothe sensitive spots, and a gorgeous combination of honey and olive oil to moisturize. You look beautiful, BB!

I LOVE Lush's Fresh Face masks - I have actually featured this mask on a past Skincare Sunday post, so for a more detailed review, you can go here if you like! I really liked using this mask - the texture was nice and light and smooth (almost a whipped formula). Like most of the Lush masks, it can be a little hard to rinse off so make sure you use a face cloth with it! This was very calming on the skin, and I could see the improvements to my skin after using this!
Repurchase: Yes

July 8
Skyn Iceland Hydro Cool Firming Eye Gels ~ 1 set for $2.75 (full size is 8 sets for $30). When you're run down and stressed out, the delicate skin under your eyes really takes a beating, resulting in puffiness, dark circles and premature wrinkling. In just ten minutes, this cooling transdermal gel patch infuses the eye area with highly potent actives and Icelandic glacial water to firm, tone, brighten and reduce the appearance of puffiness and wrinkles. Eyes are revived, soothed and rejuvenated.

I read somewhere that you would have better benefits if you wore eye gels under your sheet masks, you would get better results  - although, I think in order for that to happen you need to use good eye masks. These adhere well and are cooling, but I saw no noticeable results at all.

Repurchase: No

The Face Shop Real Nature Mask "Honey" ~ $2.00. Get radiant and illuminated skin in an instant with this Honey Face Mask. The honey extract, with its nourishing properties, reveals younger looking, invigorated skin.

The Face Shop are easily my go to for inexpensive sheet masks - they are also the only k-beauty store I have seen in Calgary so they are accessible too! These masks fit a little big on my face, but they also work really well! This honey one was so soothing and it lasted quite a while - it made my skin feel really good!
Repurchase: Yes!

July 12
Hanaka Botanic Treatment Reviving Mask (Pomegranata + Q10) ~ $1.98 each (set of 5 for $9.90). This mask is made out of 100% natural wood pulp fiber from Japan and is completly decomposable after use, an eco-friendly mask! This has Pomegranate and Q10 to improve skin elasticity and firm aging skin.

I posted a full review on this mask on a Mask Wednesday post - you can see my full thoughts here

July 14

Repeat from earlier this month - these have an expiry date, so I was finishing it up!

July 18
Peter Roth Cucumber Gel Mask ~ sample size (full size is 5 oz. for $56). A refreshing, cooling, moisturizing, and calming gel that helps soothe dry, irritated skin.

This mask is so great for the summer - it is a gel rinse off mask (or can be used as an overnight mask as well)! It goes on the skin nice and smooth and is instantly cooling and calming on the skin! This made my skin feel smooth and and refreshed!
Repurchase: Maybe, will use more to decided

July 20
The Face Shop Real Nature Green Tea Hydro Gel Mask ~ $7. This natural brightening gel mask gives the skin a transparent radiant look thanks to its compound of catechin-rich green tea leaves and melanin-controlling niacinamide.

I featured this mask from The Face Shop on a Mask Wednesday post - you can read my full review about it here! This mask fit really great as a thicker hydro gel mask and lasted over 40 minutes on my skin. It worked well to brighten my skin and reduce redness! It also made my skin feel really good!
Repurchase: Yes

July 23
Laneige Multiberry Yogurt Repairing Mask ~ sample size 0.6 for $7.33 (full size is 2.7 oz for $33.00). Nourish the skin with antioxidants and nutrition from yogurt and various berry extracts. Formulated with extracts from raspberries, blueberries, wolfberries, cranberries, and strawberries, Multiberry Complex delivers abundant nutrients and antioxidants deep into the skin to help nourish and eliminate harmful free radicals. Sogurty™, a specialized fermented yogurt, soothes, protects and supports natural collagen production for healthier, younger-looking skin.

This is a cream wash off mask - it is quite thick but smooths out really nicely over the face. Leave this on for 5-10 minutes and rinse off. This doesn't dry or harden on the face so it is really easy to rinse off and a lot of it absorbed in to my skin first. My skin felt super soft after using this!
Repurchase: Undecided, will continue to use this sample

July 26
The Face Shop Real Nature Face Mask Pomegranate ~ $2.00. This Pomegranate Face Mask reduces the appearance of the first signs of aging and helps improve skin's elasticity. Rich in antioxidants, pomegranate provides skin with long-lasting hydration and a radiant complexion.

Clearly, this mask is a little big on me - is it ironic that the mask meant to firm my skin and improve elasticity is drooping and falling off my face?! Maybe, just to me. Again, these are my go-to affordable sheet masks and this one was pretty good - it lasted quite a while, but the fit made it hard to wear.
Repurchase: Maybe, for sure the Real Nature line, but maybe not this one...

July 28
Beauty Clinic Mediheal Cacao (Cocoa) Ade Mask ~ $1.99 online ($1.49 at Superstore). Beauty Clinic Mediheal Mask provides the freshness and effectiveness of ingredients efficiently to provide nutrition for your skin with the synergy effect of concentrated essence. Beauty Clinic Mediheal Cacao Ade Mask keeps your face moist. This raw cacao is a great anti-oxidant mask delivered to your skin.

I was super excited when I saw my local Superstore selling these Mediheal masks - I had to try one right away! I posted a full review on a Mask Wednesday post here! This mask was a thicker style sheet mask and was dripping with extra essence! This lasted about 30 minutes on my skin and felt really good!
Repurchase: Yes!

July 31
Exfoliating Clay Mask ~ 2.5 oz. for $9.50. This mask featured Moroccan Rhassoul Clay, combined with Kaolin Clay, cucumber and papaya extracts and vegetable glycerin for a gentle exfoliation. Use sparingly, as a little goes a long way.

I just got this in my July Bath Time Box and was so excited to get a mask I was going to review it right away! Turns out I was accidently sent a mask for someone who was allergic to papaya and rose, so it was a different version of the mask! I am being sent a new one and I will be able to compare both masks for you guys eventually! This was nice and smooth on the skin - it was detoxifying without drying and felt great!
Repurchase: I will continue to use this before deciding!

Upper Canada Naturally Face Sheet Mask Soothing Cucumber ~ $3.50. Soothing – reduces puffiness and redness. The ultimate nourishment for your face! Each mask uses a unique fabric blend that tightly hugs the contours of the face allowing for the most effective penetration of our wholesome and natural essential ingredients.

I followed up the clay mask with a sheet mask - I have never tried anything from this brand before. I posted a more detailed review here if you would like to see. I did not love this mask - the material was too thick and the fit was really bad. It did last a long time, but wasn't anything amazing!
Repurchase: No

For July, I only used 16 masks - this is less than what I normally use. It is always hard when travelling to keep up the regular routine, so I missed a few days in there! My skin is starting to calm down again and I think I will try to keep it on track by wearing as many masks as I can for August!

It doesn't say specifically for The Face Shop, but it sounds like it is Bovine Colostrum
