Five on Friday - March 27, 2015

I'm linking up again for Five on Friday:

This week has been a very up and down for me this week - I'm hoping next week sees some improvements!!

ONE

How cute is this adorable fruit bowl of skincare products?! Ahhh - I love Korean products and how cute they are!! My fruit bowl contains:
  • The Yeon Jeju Hallabong Energy Live Pack
  • Baviphat Strawberry Toxifying Mask
  • Tonymoly Magic Food Banana Sleeping Pack
  • Tonymoly Appletox Smooth Massage Peeling Cream
I usually like my counters nice and clear, but these goodies are out on display!

TWO

This past weekend, I got to volunteer and a really awesome event: Cops and Crepes! All across Alberta, Law Enforcement wore their uniforms and helped work at Cora's to raise money and awareness for the Special Olympics! It was an awesome day of volunteering!

THREE

Also this weekend after a crazy day of volunteering, I got to unwind at the Grape Escape! It is a wine festival with samples of tons of wines and food trucks! Such a fun night, the fiance and I had a great time!

FOUR

This may be one of my favorite parts of wedding planning - cupcake tasting! A friend of my mom's is doing all the baking for us, and she made us so many goodies to try out here! We actually decided on all 3 flavors - red velvet, chocolate and vanilla! Yum!

FIVE

So this is my terrible news from this week - in a month, I may not have a job. I won't get too much in to the politics here, but with dropping oil prices, the Alberta government has been threatening cut-backs for some time. They have decided that where I work can be significantly cut down, so me and quite a few co-workers will either be re-assigned or let go. It's been very hard as my fiance and I actually work in the same place so we are really hoping to be reassigned! But, even if we are moved, I have really loved this job and it is sad news all around.

Sorry to turn this in to a slight pity party, but I am trying to stay as positive as I can and just get a little bit of it off my mind! It is a bit of waiting game now, so I am hoping after everything I can get some good news - keep your fingers crossed for me!!! XOXO

Hope everyone had a fantastic week!

  1. Sorry to hear about work! Hopefully things work out! Especially scary with you both working in the same job. Also love the fruit collection!

  2. Hi Renee, so sorry to hear the latest round of government changes affects you and your fiancé. Targeting corrections and healthcare is so hurtful to so many people, I work for Alberta Health Services and know our organization is facing a tough future as well (our union contract expired March 2014). I hope your positions can be transferred to a place you are happy with. Best wishes - and feel free to have wine & mask nights more than just once a week!

    1. Thanks Brenda - I appreciate the support! I am hopeful that something better will come up - I know a lot more people will be affected by this budget and it is so disappointing! Hopefully you are all good and there are no wage cuts with the contract expiry!
I may have indulged in an extra wine and mask night already ;)
