Travel Post ~ My Favourite Wineries in Okanagan, B.C - Naramata, Summerland, Kelowna, Okanagan Falls and Oliver & Osoyoos

Alright, it's no secret around here that I enjoy my wine - we love wine touring, collecting and drinking (we even built a custom wine room in our basement, so we are pretty big wine-os!)

I borrowed photos of the wineries from their websites

We are just on our way home from the Okanagan and we always love picking up wine from there when we are visiting - it's certainly a newer wine region, but honestly I'm impressed with the variety and wines that they have! I have done wine tours in all different areas of the Okanagan and thought I'd share my favourites from each area to help out if you are planning a visit!

I'm personally a sweet white wine drinker, so I love the amount of Gewurztraminers, Rieslings and blends that are available here, plus my husband enjoys the deeper reds and he always ends up with a great selection as well!

Naramata - Deep Roots Winery

Alright, Naramata is a tiny little town just outside of Pentiction - it's exploded in to an area full of wineries so you could visit every year and always try new places (like we do), but I have collected a few favourites along the way! Also, the views are next level - see my top picture, always a gorgeous location to drink wine and overlook the Okanagan Lake!

My personal favourite winery is Deep Roots (also my husbands too) - it's a must stop for us and we always load up on wine there. We personally enjoy their Chardonnay, even though it's typically not our favourite type of wine, plus their Gamay and Rose are a hit every year!

Honourable Mentions:
-Elephant Island Winery (best fruit wines - Pear and Blackberry)
-Howling Bluff Estate Winery (best Sauvignon Blancs and great Pinot Noirs)

Summerland - Back Door Winery

There is also amazing views from the Summerland side of the Okanagan when wine tasting - there are a few less stops on this side, but still lots of great wine! We always enjoy stopping at Back Door Winery as they always have a huge wine selection and they are all delicious! (They even offer fruit and dessert wines, so there is something for everyone!)

Also, for of the honourable mentions - if you need some ice cream along your way, Sleeping Giant is located in Summerland Sweets and they are known for their fruit syrups and jams. (Fun fact, most of my school field trips growing up took place here watching syrup be made!)

Honourable Mentions:
-Dirty Laundry Vineyard (great tasting show along with good wines!)
-Sleeping Giant Fruit Winery (yummy fruit wines and pick up a syrup too).

The Kelowna wineries is my least explored area of the Okanagan, but I did go wine tasting for for Bachelorette party as well as a few stops over the past couple of years. It's gorgeous here and there is a ton of selection, so I really want to make sure to try more in this area.

Personally, Summerhill wines are amazing - they are organic and aged inside this pyramid on their property. I absolutely love their whites and they make a Baco Noir that is our date night wine always! So delicious!

Honourable Mentions:
-SpearHead Winery (they specialize in Pinot Noirs and they are delicious!)
-Meadow Vista Honey Wines (they make honey wines/mead and they are unique and yummy!)

Oliver/Osoyoos - Silver Sage Winery

I have done the Oliver/Osoyoos wines a few times, but the best was for a friend's bachelorette party a couple of years ago! It's a different area with so many good wineries!

Out of all of them, I absolutely love Silver Sage - all of the wines are so delicious, and the tasting is a real treat of a show, they sample so many and are hilarious. I actually track down some of the wines (the Gewurztraminer) even if I can't make it all the way down to Oliver to pick them up at the shop!

Honourable Mentions:
-Nk'Mip Cellars (delicious indigenous owned winery - great stop!)
-Burrowing Owl Estate Winery (more red wines, but delicious and stunning location)

Okay, every region of the Okanagan is beautiful, so of course, it's lovely here. I have done quite a few tours in this area and there are a few places we always come back to.

My husband enjoyed the tasting at Noble Ridge the best and we've done it a few times - they are incredibly knowledgable about wine making so those that want more information will always get it here! (I just like to drink and also their wines are delicious and are always high rated in the point system!)

Honourable Mentions:
-Stag's Hollow Winery (they have a delicious selection of wines - especially the port!)
-Blasted Church Vineyards (a big selection of wines and gorgeous views!)

Honestly, there are so many great spots and wines that no matter where you stop, you will enjoy the wines and the views! If I haven't mentioned a winery you love, make sure to let me know, or have any questions, ask away!
