August 2018 - Monthly Empties

Here is a look at my Monthly beauty garbage:

Smashbox Super Fan Mascara ~ sample size shown (full size is $24.00 CAN). A lengthening mascara that gives you modern, fanned-out volume without any heaviness or clumping.

This was a hyped up mascara for it's release and I really liked the sound of it; however, it just didn't do it for me. It was super clumpy and made me look like I have 5 spider lashes - not what I'm going for.
Repurchase: No

Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment in "Rose" ~ $29.00 CAN. A bestselling, cult-favorite lip treatment that moisturizes, protects, and smooths the lips in clear and sheer or buildable color.

Rose is described as a sheer berry rose and this is easily one of my most loved lip balms - I love the subtle tint and the formula is amazing on the lips! I've gone through quite a few of these already. It's a must have.
Repurchase: Yes!

Dior Diorskin Forever Undercover Foundation in 20 Light Beige ~ tiny sample shown (full size is $64.00 CAN). A 24-hour, full-coverage, water-based foundation.

I picked up a couple samples of this foundation - this shade was a little too dark for me. Shade 15 is perfect for me. I've not fully decided if I love this formula or not - I think I want to like it more than I actually do! It was beautiful on the skin but didn't wear well around the nose. I might try it again before I buy it full size; but, I don't think it's best formula for my skin type.
Repurchase: Mmmm... undecided

Kao - Biore UV Aqua Rich Watery Essence SPF 50+ PA++++ ~ $15.84 CAN. Super water proof sunscreen. SPF50+ PA++++. For face and body.

This is one of my ultimate favorite sunscreen formulas - it's hydrating and moisturizing and leaves no white cast on the skin. It wears well under makeup and I love the formula! (It's made my Favorites back in July 2016 and I still love it).
Repurchase: Yes

Dior Hydra Life Micellar Water No Rinse Cleanser ~ sample shown (full size is $49.00 CAN). A no-rinse cleansing water that removes face and eye makeup and tones in a single step.

This was a really good micellar water and this removed my makeup well, especially my mascara and eye makeup. It does have a significant fragrance scent so if you are sensitive, you might not want to use this near eye; but, it did work well. In terms of makeup remover though, it's on the pricey side!
Repurchase: Mmmm... probably not at that price

Etude House Real Art Moisture Cleansing Oil ~ sample shown (full size is $16.60 US). This is a moist type cleansing oil containing moisture providing coconut oil and grape seed oil, apricot kernel oil effective for removing dead skin cells, cleansing away makeup residue and old skin cells.

This cleansing oil smells amazing and worked well! I love cleansing oils to remove my makeup and I thought this removed my makeup and left my skin clear and clean!
Repurchase: I would yes!

Mizon Water Volume Aqua Gel Cream ~ $15.00. This moisturizer is formulated with Alaskan glacial waters, coral reef waters, and more to hydrate and refresh your skin!

I really enjoyed the light, gel texture of this moisturizer - it feels amazing on the skin! This made my favorites last year; but, towards the end it wasn't really doing it for me anymore. Also, it doesn't look available anymore.

Repurchase: Probably not...

Tarte Marine Boosting Mist ~ $30.00 CAN. A four-in-one primer, makeup setting spray, hydrating mist, and skin refresher.

I think they've changed the name of this to "4-in-1 Setting Mist - Rainforest of the Sea Collection" but I can't be sure. I had a mini bottle of this and really liked it; but, this mist just didn't work for me. I used it in my skincare routine and I just felt whenever I used it, I broke out. I would stop, it would clear up - I just don't think this worked for me anymore. I actually think this was older and maybe it went bad because I did like it before.
Repurchase: No

Avene Eau Thermale Thermal Spring Water ~ sample shown (full size is $21.95 CAN). Avène Thermal Spring Water is captured directly at its source and bottled in a sterile environment, ensuring that all its soothing and softening properties are preserved.

I know some people think water in a mist are a scam; but, this mist was so good! I actually think this made my skin clearer and my skin just looked and felt good using this! I also love the mister - it was so fine and it absorbed quickly!
Repurchase: Yes!

The Face Shop Herb Day Cleansing Tissue ~ $6.00 CAN. These practical cleansing wipes eliminate makeup residue and impurities.

I have always struggled to find face wipes that actually work to remove makeup on my face - these are very saturated and actually work! I don't often use wipes to remove my makeup as it's more when I'm super tired or for swatches. Either way, I think these worked well. These were in my Favorite products earlier this year!

Acure Seriously Soothing Micellar Water Towelettes ~ $8.99 CAN. Gently remove makeup, dirt, sweat, environmental toxins, and that mustard from the corner of your mouth.

These were pretty good wipes too - I found these weren't super effective at removing mascara; but, I could use these for swatches and in a pinch on my face and they worked well. They just weren't a stand out compared to other face wipes.

Repurchase: Maybe...

Boscia Detoxifying Black Cleanser ~ sample.

This specific cleanser doesn't seem to be available anymore - weird. This worked well - it warmed up on the face and felt like it deep cleaning the face!
Repurchase: Doesn't look like I can!

Dermalogica Precleanse ~ sample (full size is $19.00 - $62.00 CAN). Deep-cleansing oil melts impurities and make-up from skin.

This was okay for an oil cleanser - I've used better though. Also, I much prefer the Dermalogica precleanse balm! It's so good as the first cleanser; this oil cleaner worked though, just not my favorite.
Repurchase: No

Diamond Wipes Gentle Cleansing Makeup Remover Wipes ~ sample.

This was just a hotel makeup remover - it was fine. Didn't really work well on my mascara; but on the face was fine.
Repurchase: Nah...

Shiseido Facial Cotton ~ $11.00 CAN. This exclusive Facial Cotton is 100 percent natural and uniquely manufactured for a consistent soft, smooth texture.

I love these cotton pads - I had heard rave reviews forever, and these really work so well. I basically use them to remove makeup or apply toner. Sounds like such a silly product to love; but, they really are great! They are just so plush and work well!
Repurchase: Yes

Arbonne Re9 Advanced Set ~ travel set (full size set is $327.00 US). Start your collection.

This set of 6 includes the: Smoothing Facial Cleanser, Regenerating Toner, Intensive Renewal Serum, Corrective Eye Cream, Night Repair Cream, and Restorative Day Cream Broad Spectrum SPF 20 Sunscreen. These were okay - the toner was really nice; but, I actually found these products a little heavy for me overall.
Repurchase: No

GlamGlow ThirstyCleanse ~ $?. A revolutionary Mud to Foam daily cleanser that combines the Power of Mud and the Performance of Foam.

This weirdly doesn't seem to be available anymore. But, this was pretty good. I thought the mud to foam texture was unique and this smelled good. It was okay - I tend to stick to creamy or foaming cleanser so it's not a texture that I would normally reach for.
Repurchase: No, but I can't anyways

Matrix Total Results Shampoo ~ sample.

Anyone else have the need to try out hotel samples?! I was surprised this hotel had Matrix so I thought I would try this. It smelled good and worked fine - good for a hotel, actually!
Repurchase: Nah...

Fekkai PrX Reparatives Conditioner ~ travel size 2 oz for $5. Hardworking, lightweight formula that repairs fried or worn-out hair by boosting keratin.

This was okay - it worked well. I didn't think it was an extra special conditioner.

Repurchase: No

Soapberri Organic Soapberry Shampoo in "Relaxing Lavender" ~ sample shown (full size is $28.00). Restore your hair’s natural shine & luster with the nourishing, natural lather of the soapberry, bottled straight from the forest.

I love the scent of shampoo - the lavender was so relaxing and soothing! This didn't lather too much and I didn't think it worked well overall. My hair seemed to get oily rather quickly after using this.

Repurchase: Nope

Bio Keratin Volumizing Dry Shampoo ~ $?.

This was not good - huge white cast and it just didn't really work! Also, my hair was really crunchy feeling at the roots. This just took my forever to get through because it was a last resort dry shampoo all the time.
Repurchase: Nooooo

Pharmacopia Verbena Body Wash ~ sample.

More hotel samples - clearly I did a little travelling in July and August. This one smells really good and worked well!
Repurchase: No

Ayres Hand Cream Pampas Sunrise ~ sample size (full size 40 ml for $12.50). Ultra rich, luxurious hand cream enriched with shea butter, plant emollients and herbal extracts moisturize dry skin.

This is pretty old - it was in my work pants pocket and it works fine. Smelled good and lasted.
Repurchase: Not likely

Vichy Ideal Body Spa Shower Gel-Cream ~ $16.95. Cleansing Gel-Cream without soap for in- shower use.

This isn't available anymore and it was really good. It was a deeper, muskier scent and it smelled good and was a nice, thick formula that lathered well.
Repurchase: I might have...

Bath Time Box Buttered Bath ~ $8.50. Inside this milk bath is skin loving cocoa butter which makes for a super decadent soak.

This bath product smelled amazing - it was super relaxing and was really great to use!
Repurchase: Maybe!

Lush Kiss Me Quick Wash Card ~ $3.50 CAN. Made with fresh apple pulp, this sweet and spicy soap paper lathers up with water to leave you clean, soft and smelling of mulled spices.

This is just a little soap card - was really great for travelling! This smelled so good and worked well for a couple of uses!
Repurchase: Maybe - it was limited edition for Valentine's Day

Lush The Experimenter Bath Bomb ~ $8.95 CAN. This bathing blockbuster stars vivid, swirling colors to enthrall your senses, crackling popping candy, and the sweet comforting fragrances of vanilla and tonka absolutes.

This is such a bright, fun bath bomb that lasted a long time and finished as a nice purple colour! I love the scent as well!
Repurchase: Probably!

So, in August I used 32 products - lots of samples and hotel goodies as I was travelling; but, I think I did pretty good for the month! I actually like getting my samples worked through!

Here is a look at the masks I used this month:

Homemade Mask with Graydon Superfood Mask ~ $39.00 CAN for 15 capsules (you can also try 5 capsules for $13.00 or 2 capsules for $6.00). If you're wondering how to get glowing skin this is the answer. Our Mask + Scrub is made with 15 outstanding superfoods, the synergy of which combine forces to gently but effectively exfoliate and brighten your face.

I did a fun D.I.Y. mask along with this capsule mask from Graydon and love how this made my skin look! For a full look at the D.I.Y. recipe, you can see my full post here
Repurchase: Maybe!

Fruits and Passions Hyaluronic Acid Mask ~ $3.00.

I seem to be running in to a few things that are discontinued this month - I guess that's what you get when you are trying to use up your stash of products. This was terrible - it was too thick and didn't stay on, so it didn't wear long.
Repurchase: Nope

The Face Shop Real Nature Longan Mask ~ $3.00 CAN.

Why isn't this one still available either?! This was fine - it fit a little big on me; but, my skin was hydrated and soft after using this!
Repurchase: No

Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Jelly Sheet Mask ~ $11.00 CAN. A jelly sheet mask that’s the perfect quick fix to dry, tired skin.

This is a light pink, jelly hydrogel mask and it is great for cooling, hydrating, depuffing, and soothing the skin! This is a 2 piece really thin gel mask that really brightens the skin - you can see my full review here
Repurchase: Yes

Wander Beauty Baggage Claim Gold Eye Masks ~ 3 pairs for $15.00 CAN (6 pairs for $30.00 CAN). A set of individually-packaged gold foil eye masks to brighten, hydrate, and reduce the appearance of dark circles.

Aren't these eye masks pretty?! I love the gold and these adhered really will and worked for me! (I got these in my August Boxycharm).
Repurchase: mmm... maybe, I will use the rest first!

Ah, I only used 5 masks this month! I need to get back in to my daily masking!

What did you use up this month?
