February 2016 Topbox - Review and Unboxing

TopBox is a Canadian Beauty Box Subscription - for $12 CDN a month with free shipping, you will receive 4 deluxe sample size or full size products. You fill out a beauty profile and generally receive products based on what you have identified in the profile. Also, every month you have the option to wish for a "prive" box, which is a box that focuses on one brand or product for the whole box.

TopBox is a Canadian company and only ships to Canada. There is usually a month or two waitlist for this subscription.

For this month, I requested a regular Topbox - here is a look at what I received:

For this subscription, you choose an organza bag or a cardboard tube for it to ship in - I always choose these bags as I find so many uses for them! Topbox also includes a detailed product card explaining what was included.

Here is a closer look at the goodies included:
February 2016 Topbox - Review and Unboxing

Smashbox Iconic Photo Finish Foundation Primer ~ sample size 0.25 oz for $11 (full size is 1 oz for $44). Use after moisturizer and before foundation for complexion perfection. This skin-soothing blend of antioxidants, which can be worn alone or under foundation, works overtime to fill in fine lines and even out skin texture.

I use a primer everyday and I don't think I have tried this one - it does have some mixed reviews but I will certainly test it out! I like Smashbox, so this is a welcome product!

Pop Beauty Kajal Pen in "Inky Purple" ~ full size $10. Matte finish, intensely pigmented kajal pen defines & shapes eyes in an instant! Lush gemtone shades POP any eye colour effortlessly! Easily blends with included smudger. Suitable for sensitive eyes.

I am always happy to see full size items included in Topbox and eyeliners are usually welcome items. I'm not a huge fan of these type of pencils and I don't use the smudgers - I think I will pass this on.

February 2016 Topbox - Review and Unboxing

Nova Scotia Fisherman Xtreme Skincare - Sea Salt Soap ~ sample size 1 oz for $1.66 (full size is 4.8 oz for $7.95). Our 100% natural, hand poured soaps are made from Olive, Palm, Coconut, and Organic Castor oils using the time honored “Cold Process Method.” Reduced water content delivers a harder, longer lasting, more concentrated bar. Organic Shea butter provides extra moisture and a satiny feel.
No artificial preservatives are added and all-natural scents are used.

I always love natural soaps - Topbox seems to have a good relationship with this brand as we have received a few products from them in past boxes. I love the scent of this soap and look forward to using it!

Morgan Taylor Nail Laquer - "Later Alligator" ~ full size $15.83. Leave your troubles behind with this carefree kelly green crème nail polish.

I think this was a product that all subscribers received this month - a green isn't usually one of the most usable colors, but it is a color I can see myself using once in a while.

Topbox came with 4 products (2 full sized) with a total value of $38.49. Overall this box was okay - I will use all the products except for the eyeliner. I am really happy about the primer and soap, and the nail polish is just okay.

Once in a while, Topbox sell surprise full size items as $10 add-ons. They have been really mixed, but I usually pick 1 up! Here is a look at my $10 add on:

ModelCo Power Lash Long Wear Black Mascara ~ full size $20. Beloved Australian brand ModelCo is giving our lash lines a serious boost with this all-star mascara. Armed with an inky-black formula and a gentle yet effective lash-grabbing brush, it glides on silky-smooth to create thick, extralong fringe in seconds. A unique brush that coats even the tiniest, sparsest lashes with an even layer of true black for supersized lashes. What's more, the flake-free formula has serious staying power.

I had a phase when I barely received any mascara from subscription boxes and now the last few months, I have received a lot of mascara. This sounds good, but it seems weird that this particular type of mascara is no longer available on modelco.com and is only available on birchbox? Anyways, I'm not 100% that I will try this, but will let you know what I think if I do try it!

What did you think of the February Topbox?
