Five on Saturday - October 9, 2021 ~ Alberta Fall, Johnny B Sweet, Well Order, The Nature of Witches Pre-order Goodies, and Christmas Prep (Yes I Said It!)

Happy Friday everyone - hope you all had a great week! It was super busy for me, so I'm really glad it's a long weekend! But, on a good note, I started volleyball up again this week and it was so nice to play with adults (I play with kids at work a fair bit), so it was nice for some good competitive games!

ONE

I purchased everything in this post - this post contains affiliate links

I have to start by saying that Alberta is maybe having the best Fall I've ever seen - I was in Edmonton this past weekend for training and I went out for a few walks! I even saw some larches and they are so lovely! Usually we get one really nice week and then it snows, so it's amazing that we've had a few weeks of perfect weather and beautiful Fall colours!

March 2019 - Monthly Empties & Month in Masks

Here is a look at my beauty garbage I used up in March:

March 2019 - Monthly Empties & Month in Masks
Some products may have been PR samples - this post contains affiliate links

Wet n Wild Photo Focus Foundation in Buff Bisque ~ $7.97 CAN. Specially made with a matte, light-diffusing complex to give your skin #nofilter perfection.

This foundation made my Monthly Favourites in January; but, I will be honest in that I didn't fall in love with this immediately. It looks amazing on this skin applied with a dense, flat foundation brush - not with a sponge! This is s
o good and it's so affordable - I can finally see what all the hype was about! If you want to see it on me, you can see it in a look here

January 2019 Monthly Empties & Month in Masks

Time to dig in to my beauty garbage:

January 2019 Monthly Empties

Wander Beauty Unlashed Volume and Curl Mascara ~ $29.00 CAN. An intensely glossy black mascara that volumizes, lengthens, and curls.

This mascara was pretty good - it lengthened, curled and added volume; but, it didn't add as much volume as I prefer for my lashes (which is really an excessive amount of volume). So it is a pretty mascara - you can see it on me in a look here!)

Repurchase: Probably Not

June 2018 - Monthly Empties and Month in Masks

Time for a look at my beauty garbage:

June 2018 - Monthly Empties and Month in Masks

Make Up For Ever Step 1 Skin Equalizer Primer ~ $45.00 CAN. A makeup primer that assists with balancing the skin's texture and tone for smoother, more even, and longer-lasting makeup wear.

This was a pretty good primer - I thought it worked well to smooth out pores and make foundation application easier. This actually made my favorite products back in Feb. 2016 and I still like it. This bottle still has a bit in it, but it's getting old and I found it wasn't applying to my skin the same way so time to get rid of it!
Repurchase: Yes, eventually...

Mask Wednesday - Skinfood Freshmade Watermelon Mask and Ecotools Facial Mask Mates!

My U.S.A. Shopping Haul - Ulta, Target, Sephora and Naimies!

I could not wait to get this post up - I may have went a little shopping crazy on my recent trip to L.A. and Anaheim. There are so many products that aren't readily in Canada that I have been waiting patiently to try!

(Also, I usually keep everything in CAD $ in my posts, but just because these are easier in USD, that's what I will share the prices in for this haul!)

I didn't actually think I would make it to a Sephora while in California! When we were in L.A. it was just too far of a drive; but, when we stayed in Anaheim we walked to our house through Downtown Disney and I saw Sephora and HAD to run in and pick this one item up!

Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Sleeping Mask ~ $45.00 US. The Watermelon Glow Sleeping Mask is a luxuriously bouncy, breathable sleeping mask that smoothes and perfects skin, overnight.

August 2017 - Month in Masks & Mask Empties!

Masking is a huge part (and probably my favorite part) of my skincare routine! I try to use all types of masks as often as possible as I find they really help moisturize and improve my skin!

This post is a review of all the masks I use each month and mini reviews on all of them - I also consider the Month of Masks my Mask Empties post, because I do not feature my sheet masks in my monthly empties post! You can check out my past Month of Masks here

Here is a look at the masks I used in August:

August 2
Too Cool For School Coconut Ceramide Mask ~ $8.00. A sheer and lightweight sheet mask drenched in coconut water for instant and refreshing hydration.

This mask smelled like coconuts and I loved it - it was so refreshing and smelled just like Summer. This fit really well, had a good amount of essence, and worked well! It was brightening and made my skin look and feel good. If you want any more info, I featured this mask on a Mask Wednesday post you can check out here

April 2017 - Monthly Empties!

Time to go through my beauty garbage from April:

Covergirl The Super Sizer Fibers Mascara ~ $6.97. The Super Sizer Fibers for 400% volume + length. New fiber-length formula for a false lash extension effect. Lash Styler finds and transforms even small lashes.

This mascara wasn't my favorite - the formula was waaay too wet for my liking! It made my lashes clump and stick together. It added a lot of length to my lashes, but not enough volume for my liking. You can see my full review here if you are interested!

Five on Friday - April 21, 2017

Happy Friday everyone! Hope your week is good - mine was a little busy with a few appointments (baby is only 2 weeks away at this point in time!), but I still had plenty of time to relax this week! And, relaxing is exactly what I needed this week!

ONE

Did you guys get your Benefit sample in the mail this week?! This sample of the Benefit Cosmetics "They’re Real! Double The Lip Lipstick & Liner in One" is actually bigger than a sample - it is a travel size product worth $14.00!

The shade I received is "Pink Thrills" and it is described as a true pink. This is a liner and lipstick in one product! I'm super curious to test this out - when I have time, I will do a post on it!

Spring Cleaning & Decluttering - Skincare Purge, Tosses, and Empties!

So lately, I have walked in to my office (wear I keep all my makeup/skincare/etc) and have been feeling quite overwhelmed - my organization system has just not been working! This past week I finally got a cute little dresser and filled it with bins so I can organize my skincare a bit better! It will keep everything new, unopened and in my queue - and everything in use is nicely organized in my bathroom!

But, while that all took place I realized that I have a TON of stuff - I went crazy about 2 years ago and opened and used everything I owned, which means I had a crazy amount of half or near done products that are now done!

So, since they are close to empties and I love some and hate some, I thought I would share my purged products with you guys! (I hope you are ok with these types of posts because I plan or doing this with makeup, hair, and nail goodies soon too!)

DewyTree Aqua Collagen Peptide Sleeping Mask ~ $26.08. Soothe stressed skin and turns rough skin into dewy and bright skin.

I opened this almost 2 years ago and have used it for a bit - it just got pushed aside for some much better sleeping masks! So... it just wasn't great...

January 2017 - Month in Masks and Mask Empties!

Masking is a huge part (and probably my favorite part) of my skincare routine! I try to use all types of masks as often as possible as I find they really help moisturize and improve my skin!

My masking has really gone down hill over the past few months - but I am really trying to pick it up again! Here is a look at the masks I used in January:

January 1
The Face Shop Real Nature Face Mask - Olive ~ $2.00. This Real Nature Face Mask leaves skin supple and smooth in an instant. Contains olive extract to provide intense hydration as it nourishes the epidermis.

I have said the same thing about The Face Shop masks - they are easily my go-to masks. They are affordable and work well. While they may not have the best fit (they are a little big on me), I still find them very manageable. This one had lots of essence and made my skin feel great!

November 2016 - Monthly Empties

Time to go through my trash and see what I loved and didn't in November!
November 2016 - Monthly Empties

Giorgio Armani - Fluid Sheer ~ sample size (full size is $68.00). A cult-favorite, multitasking illuminator and complexion perfector.

This was a Sephora sample and was in one of the lighter shades - I used it as an illuminator mixed in with foundation, but the shades can also be used as a highlighter, blush or bronzer. I did like the glow it gave, but think this is quite expensive and likely not worth the price tag!

May 2016 Empties!

I have turned in to one of those people who loves empties posts - mostly because I love looking back on each product I used and see if I loved it or not! I have a ton of products and I can sometimes forget about something I love, but not with my handy garbage posts! So, I hope you guys like it too!

I used a surprising amount of makeup up this month, which is great!

Sephora Collection Teint Infusion Ethereal Natural Finish Foundation in "Cream" ~ $30.00. A beautiful, lightweight, moisturizing foundation with a natural, barely-there finish.

As most of you know by now, my Skincare Routine is very important to me and masking is a huge part of that routine (and it is probably my favorite part of my skincare routine!

This post is a review of all the masks I use each month and mini reviews on all of them - I also consider the Month of Masks my Mask Empties post, because I do not feature my sheet masks in my monthly empties post! You can check out my past Month of Masks here

My goal for April was to not only use a lot of masks, but to use a good variety of masks as well and I think I accomplished that! Here is a look:

October 2015 Favorites

Here are my 5 favorite products for the month of October!

Farmacy Clear Day Mask Medley ~ $30.00. A set of supercharged solutions for stressed, tired skin, dark spots and freckles, and dry, tight, uncomfortable skin

  • Soothing kale extract offers a complex blend of minerals, antioxidants, vitamins and amino acids that helps rebalance vulnerable, stressed skin.
  • Brightening purple broccoli extract delivers powerful skin-clarifying action due to the varietal’s high level of antizymes, which possess antioxidant properties, and the benefits of chlorophyll, vitamins, and minerals.
  • Deeply moisturizing cucumber extract delivers high levels of vitamin C, which assists in reinforcing the skin’s natural barrier function and helps to maintain moisture levels.
I have tried 2 of these masks so far (Kale and Broccoli) and I absolutely love them!! The masks are made out of this amazing thin gel material and they fit perfect on to the face. They made my skin feel good, and I would not encourage anyone to spend $10 per mask if they weren't amazing!!!

September/October 2015 Honeymoon Empties

I have to say that I originally thought I would have all my empties from the Honeymoon and October all together in 1 post; but, I had sooo many empties from my Honeymoon it would be waaay too long!!

I started blogging my empties a few months ago, because I was hooked on Youtube empties videos and love going through and seeing what everyone else has used up and what they thought of the products! I jumped on board, and have really loved it ever since - I know it's basically looking at garbage but it is awesome to go through and see what you would buy again!

My Honeymoon was 2 weeks long - September 26 to October 10 and I tried to just bring travel sized products with me to use some of my stash up!! It is also perfect to travel with because it takes up less space, and I pack like I'm never coming home! Before we dig in, let me apologize for the picture quality, ugh phones and hotel bathrooms are not a great combination for product shots! Here we go:

Bvlgari White Tea Soap ~ price unknown, hotel soap. A generous and elegant expression of refinement and personal indulgence, BVLGARI's Eau Parfume au the blanc's Bath Soap envelop body and mind with intimate notes of white tea and musk.

I don't think I would normally count this as an empty, but I left it at the first hotel where it was from. It actually smelled super good! If I was at another hotel and they had this, I would be happy to use it.

Most of you know by now that masks are a huge part of this routine and since I have come to love this routine, I have incorporated so many new masks in to my routine! I love trying different brands and different types of masks!

I started this post a few months back as a way to review more masks on my blog! Hope you enjoy reading about all the masks I have tried! I consider the Month of Masks my Mask Empties post, because I do not feature my sheet masks in my monthly empties post!

June 2015 Empties!

Time for another Monthly Empties!! I was a little worried that after how many empties I had last month that I wouldn't have any this month - I surprisingly made it through quite a few products!

I loved watching empties videos & reading blog posts - so I am jumping on the empties bandwagon (I did my first one last month!).

(Also, just as a note I will only be showing empties of make-up, skincare, body and hair products - the rest you don't need to see! I won't be showing any sheet masks here either because I review my whole Month in Masks in a separate post, but I will include masks in packages that I have finished!)

Let's get right in:

To Go Spa Coconut Eyes ~ pack of 3 for $12.50. Hydrate, Nourish, Soothe and Moisturize your under eyes leaving them refreshed and rejuvenated.

I have featured these on a few masks posts - I really like the gel eye masks! I received these in the old "Indulge Me" box and I am sad to be done them - when my stock of eye masks gets lower, I will repurchase these!

May 2015 Empties!

Through my love of make-up Youtube videos, I have come to love empties videos! It is just such a good way to review a product when the whole thing is used up!

I have seen a few other bloggers do these posts and thought it would be a good way to review all my empties given that I don't do Youtube videos! At the start of May, I used 5 products within the first 2 days and it gave me the motivation to see what I use up and what I thought of them!

(Also, just as a note I will only be showing empties of make-up, skincare, body and hair products - the rest you don't need to see! I won't be showing many masks here either because I review my whole Month in Masks in a separate post that you can check out here!)

Let me know if you like reading these posts and if you are interested in seeing a monthly post!

Here is a look at my May Empties:

Surya Brasil Sapien Women - Vegan & Natural Shave Gel ~ full size $20.39. The eco friendly Sapien Women Shave Gel protects your skin while shaving. Its a natural and vegan product made with exotic organic Amazonian ingredients like Cupuaçu butter, Pracaxi oil*, Macadamia oil, Vitamin E to prevent drying and protect sensitive skin. Organic Aloe Vera juice and vegetable glycerin promote intense hydration.
I received this product in the Nina Garcia June 2014 box and it smells soooo good! I was a little unsure of a gel type shave gel at first but this is awesome - I love that it is vegan and all natural. A little product went a long way and this lasted a long time. I will repurchase this when I get through a few other shave creams!
