August 2017 - Month in Masks & Mask Empties!

Masking is a huge part (and probably my favorite part) of my skincare routine! I try to use all types of masks as often as possible as I find they really help moisturize and improve my skin!

This post is a review of all the masks I use each month and mini reviews on all of them - I also consider the Month of Masks my Mask Empties post, because I do not feature my sheet masks in my monthly empties post! You can check out my past Month of Masks here

Here is a look at the masks I used in August:

August 2
Too Cool For School Coconut Ceramide Mask ~ $8.00. A sheer and lightweight sheet mask drenched in coconut water for instant and refreshing hydration.

This mask smelled like coconuts and I loved it - it was so refreshing and smelled just like Summer. This fit really well, had a good amount of essence, and worked well! It was brightening and made my skin look and feel good. If you want any more info, I featured this mask on a Mask Wednesday post you can check out here
Repurchase: Yes!

August 3
Sisley Paris Black Rose Cream Mask ~ full size is $225.00 (this is a sample size). The Sisley Black Rose Cream Mask offers the skin an instant youth effect. Rich in active anti-aging ingredients (Black Rose, Padina Pavonica and Alkekengi Calyx Extracts), it immediately gets to work on signs of fatigue and leaves the skin looking youthful and energized. It brings together three actions to restore a luminous complexion and re-densified skin in just 10 to 15 minutes: smoothing and plumping action, revitalizing, and softening and hydrating. Deliciously scented with Rose, this soft, creamy mask creates a moment of relaxation and pleasure.

This mask is a leave on mask - apply this and leave on for 10 to 15 minutes and wipe off any excess. This can also be used as an intensive overnight mask by leaving a generous layer on the skin overnight! This mask is so soft and soothing and smelled so good! This left my skin feeling supple and refreshed and I really liked this!
Repurchase: Ugh, it is damn expensive, but so good!

August 5
Skinfood Beauty In Food Mask - Lemon ~ $1.99. A beauty food mask sheet that provides fresh moisture to dull skin. Contains Lemon Extract.

This smelled not good at all - you know like the antiseptic lemon wipes, or something you get to wipe your hands and face with wings (do you know what i'm talking about?!) The mask itself was fine, but I can't get over the smell.
Repurchase: No

August 8
ToGoSpa Green Tea EYES ~ $12.50 for 3 sets of eye masks. Green Tea Eyes - The Energy Drink For Your Face.Taurine and Green Tea Extract promote circulation for that extra tingly stimulation. Excellent for dark circles.

I love these eye masks - they are great for dark circles! If you want to see a full review on these, you can check out my thoughts here and these made my May Monthly Favorites
Repurchase: Yes!

Skoah AHA Mask ~ sample $6.00 (full size is $38.00). A tingling peppermint infused mask to loosen and lift dead, tired skin. Contains alpha hydroxy acid, a natural exfoliator, from apples and grapes. Also contains plant extracts and sea kelp algae to hydrate. Great for skin that reacts to scrubs.

Skoah Klearity Mask ~ sample $6.00 (full size is $48.00). This mask helps provide 'klearity', err clarity. Great for blemished, oily, and acne-prone skin. Also an excellent preventative measure for hormonal flare-ups.

Yup 3 masks at a time - I'm still a multi-masking fan! I mixed these 2 masks together to use them because that is what my facialist did when I got a facial a little while ago! I mixed both together and applied a generous layer to my face and left on for 15 minutes, then rinsed off! I love the aha because it is tingly and pepperminty and the klearity works well for my blemishes! My skin looked AMAZING the next day - it was bright and clear. I love this combination.
Repurchase: Probably yes to both of them!

August 9
The Face Shop Bio-Cell Recovery Face Mask ~ $4.00. This recovery mask features a naturally adhesive bio-cellulose sheet and a Madecassoside serum that effectively soothes irritated skin due to exposure to the elements.

I loooooved the material of this mask and it fit really well to my face! It was a touch drier (or less essence-y than I prefer!) This lasted about 15 minutes, so good if you are looking for a quick mask to wear! Overall, I liked this - my skin looked good after.
Repurchase: Likely

August 12
Tony Moly Panda Dream Eye Patch ~ $3.15. Improves dark circle 60g's the most suitable for eye skin - strong adherence black sheet - it makes the eye area brighter after use.

Let me introduce you to the scariest eye masks in the world - panda eye patches! Not only are these terrifying, but, they are actually really hard to wear. The shape is bad and they had very little essence so they did not adhere well to my face. They dried out quickly and were pretty blah.
Repurchase: No!

Skyn Iceland Hydro Cool Firming Face Gels for Smile Lines ~ $8.75 (pack of 4 sets for $35.00). Skyn Iceland's Hydro Cool Firming Face Gels let you turn back the clock on your complexion by visibly smoothing smile lines - in 10 minutes flat - without a needle in sight. These peptide-packed transdermal patches plump forehead furrows and deep creases around the mouth while deliver a soothing burst of Icelandic Glacial Water.

I thought these were strange - look at how they fit on my cheeks... they did adhere well; but, maybe because I don't have huge smile lines I didn't notice any benefits.
Repurchase: No

It's skin - Neck Focus Patch ~ $6.37. Say goodbye to neck wrinkles! This neck patch promotes skin elasticity, firms skin and reduces signs of aging by offering moisture and nutrients. Apply for 15-20 minutes.

I really went all out with the weirdest masks for this multi-masking night! This looks like a neck brace, but I do like neck masks (when attached to a mask). This doesn't stick well to the neck because it's not attached to anything - overall, not good!

Repurchase: Nope

August 14
Etude House 0.2mm Mask - Hyaluronic Acid ~ $1.99. Low-irritant mask made of breathable 0.2mm air sheet. Contains hyaluronic acid. Provides intense moisture and smoothness to skin.

This had lots of essence and fit fairly well - it lasted a long time and was very hydrating! Made my skin feel great!
Repurchase: Yes

August 16
Farmacy Honey Potion Renewing Antioxidant Hydration Mask ~ $75.00 CAN for full size (sample size pictured here). A warming massage face mask that nourishes and revitalizes the skin for a glowing, smooth complexion.

This mask applies like a thick, sticky mask but changes as it is massaged in to the skin (and it is warming too!). My skin felt quite sticky after rinsing this off so I got a delayed benefits - the following day my skin was super smooth and felt amazing. I did feature this on a Mask Wednesday and you can see my full thoughts here!
Repurchase: I will try it out more before I decide

August 19
Lush Oatifix Fresh Face Mask ~ $9.95. Sensitive, dry or irritated faces will love this yummy mask for its blend of soothing oats, softening mashed banana and ground almonds to soften and slough away dry, flaky skin. With a rich blend of illipe butter, sandalwood oil and glycerin to lock moisture into your skin, it'll leave your face feeling soft and dewy.

This masks smells like cookies - sooo good to put on and wear! This mask is actually quite thick so it isn't the easiest to smooth over the face. This rinsed off easy and made my skin super soft!
Repurchase: Yes, likely...

August 21
TheFaceShop Real Nature Aloe Face Mask ~ $3.00. Your skin will be soft and supple in a couple of minutes with this Aloe Face Mask. The aloe extract, with soothing properties, offers softness and hydration to skin.

This mask was so soaked in essence it was actually dripping off my face while I was wearing it. Also, I know The Face Shop sheet masks tend to fit a little big, this one seemed especially huge on my face. Overall, it was hard to wear - I usually love these sheet masks; but, I just couldn't enjoy this one. It did make my skin feel good.
Repurchase: Mmmm... I don't know

August 22
The Face Shop Dr. Belmeur Daily Repair Soothing Gauze Sheet Mask ~ $6.00. A low-irritant calming and moisturizing mask sheet with lansil, an excellent moisturizer that keeps skin hydrated and cool for a long time. Daily low-irritant moisturizing solution: Contains phytoshpingosine, moroheiya, birch tree sap and Skin-sync Rx™ which helps form a moisture layer to calm dry skin.

I am a big fan of The Face Shop Dr. Belmeur line - I like the toner and I love the moisturizer so I had to try this mask too! This mask had a good texture, fit well and adhered well to my skin. This made my skin look nice and glowy - the essence was a little sticky after, so maybe don't use it during the day! If you want to see more - I featured this on a Mask Wednesday post here
Repurchase: Yes

August 23
Lush Cup O' Coffee Face And Body Mask ~ $19.99 for 325g (also, $10.95 for 150g). If you're a sucker for the strong, scrubby, stimulating type, this coffee-filled mask is just the thing to kick-start your day. Wake up and invigorate your skin and mind with the rich, intoxicating aroma of freshly brewed coffee and sweet roasted cocoa extract. Kaolin deeply cleanses impurities from the pores and ground coffee acts as a gentle scrub to buff away dryness and reveal glowing skin beneath. Smooth this one all over your body to feel soft, clean and wonderfully fragrant.

I love this coffee mask - it smells like a strong cup of coffee and is super scrubby! I love that this is a face and body mask so I apply it right before my shower to face, chest, arms, stomach, etc and wait for 10-15 minutes before jumping in and rinsing off! Make my skin feel nice and smooth and is great to brighten you up in the morning! If you want my full thoughts, I posted a review a while back that you can see here
Repurchase: Yes

August 24
Sisley Paris Black Rose Cream Mask ~ full size is $225.00 (this is a sample size). The Sisley Black Rose Cream Mask offers the skin an instant youth effect.

Repeat from earlier this month!

August 26
Lush Oatifix Fresh Face Mask ~ $9.95. Sensitive, dry or irritated faces will love this yummy mask for its blend of soothing oats, softening mashed banana and ground almonds to soften and slough away dry, flaky skin.

Repeat from earlier too!

August 27
D.I.Y. Mask using The Face Shop Chia Seed No Shine Hydrating Water ~ $35.00. A pore cleansing toner that replenishes skin with moisturizing Chia Seed Extract while removing excess oil with Cotton Seed Extract.

This was a suggestion from The Face Shop to use this toner water as a mask as well to help remove oil and clean the skin! I did think it made my skin clean; but it wasn't very moisturizing (the Chia Seed line is meant for normal to oily skin so it isn't meant to be the most moisturizing!). My skin felt good after.
Repurchase: I would use this as a mask again!

August 29
Belif Aqua Bomb Sheet Mask ~ $11.00 CAN. Our belief to provide instant hydration with extra care for dry skin. This sheet mask is infused with a blend of The true cream-Aqua bomb’s powerful hydrating ingredients and instantly provides an explosion of hydration to quench parched, dehydrated skin.
This mask was totally disappointing - I love the Belif Aqua Bomb True Cream so I was very excited to try this! The packaging sucks on this mask and you have to pop open the seal and soak the mask in essence. It didn't last very long on my skin and my skin did not feel hydrating at all. I did feature this on a Mask Wednesday post, you can see my full thoughts here
Repurchase: No!

So, in August I used 20 masks - woo hoo, I feel like I'm back to using my regular amount of masks! I love masking and try to do it most nights! My skin is really improving lately and I have my masks and a few products to thank for that!
