Five on Friday - June 30, 2023 ~ June 2023 Owlcrate Unboxing, School Year Is Over, June Month of Vegetarian and Pescatarian Food, Murdle Book, and Mitch's Birthday

Happy Friday everyone! Can you believe it's the last Friday in June and it's July 1st tomorrow?! Wow! It's been a little busy this week, I've had two 6-7 hour driving days to Edmonton and back (one for a family baby shower and one for work), so I'm tired!

ONE

I purchased everything in this post - this post contains affiliate links

I just received my May Owlcrate subscription and this month's theme is "If The Fates Allow" - each month the book Owlcrate includes is signed by the author and comes with a note from the author as well. They often have special edition covers just for the box, and they seem to include a lot of exclusive items just for Owlcrate, which is so fun! As a bookworm, I have been loving this subscription! (Also, I put everything away and didn't take a picture, so check out my instagram or youtube for the video!)

The item's included in this month's box are:
  • Book - Threads That Bind by Kika Hatzopoulou ~ This whole month's theme is mythology inspired and I love that - this isn't a book I'd heard of but it sound's fabulous! "In a world where the children of the gods inherit their powers, a descendant of the Greek Fates must solve a series of impossible murders to save her sisters, her soulmate, and her city", so our main character can cut the threads of fate and it sounds like a murder mystery mythology - can't wait!
  • Hand Mirror ~ This is inspired by A Song Of Achilles so the front is a greek style helmet that would have been worn in the Battle of Troy and it's got an amazing quote from the book and it's super cute!
  • Ceramic Hand Trivet ~ This is a cool printed trivet, and it's inspired by Norse mythology and somes with a quote from Neil Gaiman!
  • Picnic Blanket ~ This is inspired by The Scorpio Races and it fold out really small - this is perfect for Summer and it's small enough to tuck in to any bag!
  • Pendant ~ This is a double sided pendant inspired by Percy Jackson - the necklace band is not my style, and I haven't actually read the series so I will pass this on to someone who has!
  • Enamel Pin ~ The pins this year are all a gorgeous treasured tomes collection so they open like a book - this one is inspired by The Raven Cycle!
If you are interested in signing up, Owlcrate is $35.99 US per month, plus shipping is $19.99 to Canada, so this worked out to just over $80 for me. I am planning on not receiving this box as often in 2023, as much as I love it, I'd rather just buy books I love and not have as much unnecessary things!

TWO

The school year is over - this one feels monumental! My oldest son, Damian graduated this year; he just finished all of his exams and is all done, and Elliott "graduated" from Kindergarten so I love that I got some grad photos from both of them!

THREE

*Okay, I usually share my insta posts, might have to swap it to youtube shares now since I cannot get embedded codes to work anymore!

It's been a year and a half since I went vegetarian and I've been enjoying sharing my veggie meals. I hope that you guys have been enjoying seeing all the recipes and veggie meal ideas! I'm not preachy about going vegetarian, but I do think everyone should reduce their meat consumption, so even if one day a week you want to do meatless Monday, hoping you will find some good suggestions! Also, I'm also going to include some of my eating out meals instead of just cooked for a little more inspiration if you are looking to eat vegetarian while out!

FOUR

A couple of weeks ago, I shared that I found another online game called Murdle and then it turns out there is a little book - I thought this would be fun for my roadtrips just for something different to do. I love logic puzzles, so this is great!

FIVE

We had a super busy weekend last weekend, but it was Mitch's birthday and we had a quiet night in celebrating - we ordered some Greek takeout and had his favourite Dairy Queen icecream cake! Happy Birthday to my amazing husband!

I hope you all have a great weekend!
