Five on Friday - April 30, 2021 ~ Vaccinated, April Owlcrate Box, April Scratch Monthly Mani Kit, Star Wars Baking & Birthday, and Mango Beer!

Happy Friday everyone! Hope you all had a great week - can you believe we are already on the last day of April?! Where has the time gone?!

ONE

I got my first dose of my vaccine this week! I signed up right when I was eligible - my husband and I became eligible due to working in a congregate living placement. We got the Pfizer and honestly, I'm terrified of needles and it was easy. My arm was pretty sore the next day, but no other symptoms. And, good timing too - Alberta recored the highest daily count ever and I just want to see the end of my pandemic.

TWO

I purchased everything in this post - this post contains affiliate links

I just received my April Owlcrate subscription and this month's theme is "Ruthless Rivals" - each month the book Owlcrate includes is signed by the author and comes with a note from the author as well. They often have special edition covers just for the box, and they seem to include a lot of exclusive items just for Owlcrate, which is so fun! As a bookworm, I have been loving this subscription!  (And, I'm happy that shipping was so quick this month, I feel like it's been slow for so long, that this was a welcome change!)

The item's included in this month's box are:
  • Book - Witches Steeped in Gold by Ciannon Smart ~ I'm so excited for this book! It was one of my anticipated books of the year - about rival witches who end up working together. This book has an exclusive Owlcrate cover (it's all gold, where the original has some green), it's signed, has beautiful art on the back of the dust jacket and an exclusive foil print on the hardcover. Also, it includes a letter from the author!
  • Enamel Pin ~ This pin is inspired by the book and features some prominent items from the story - it they are designed by Icey Designs
  • Phone Wallet ~ This was inspired by Hamilton and says "History has its eyes on you" and was designed by Lady Chubbs Letters - I'm not really sure if this is something I will use or not, kind of handy but not really for me.
  • Coffee ~ This exclusive blend was made by Fable Grounds Coffee - it is a cinnamon hazelnut blend and was inspired by Where Dreams Descend (which I really need to read!), and is called Spectaculore!
  • Throw Pillowcase ~ This is throw pillowcase inspired by Nevernight (which I haven't read and don't think I plan on it, so this isn't the most exciting product for me) - this is pretty though and it was designed by KDP Letters
  • Chopstick Set ~ This is inspired by These Violent Delights (which was a recent Owlcrate book!) and this is a really cool set, designed by @paperbackbones and these are super cool!
  • Et Cetera Card Game ~ This is super cool and was also designed by paperbackbones, but it's a bookish game! It comes with cards and prompts and is a super cute addition to this box!
If you are interested in signing up, Owlcrate is $32.99 US per month (this just increased for the April box), plus shipping is $14.99 to Canada.

THREE

I just got my April 2021 Scratch Monthly Mani Kit and as always, they are super cute! This is an easy, affordable subscription that features nail wraps from GoScrachIt that are exclusive to the kit each month and designed by NinaNailedIt!

The Scratch Monthly Mani Kit is $18.00 US monthly with free shipping everywhere! Each month you get an exclusive set of wraps that aren't available for purchase and a little extra mani goodie with it!

This month's subscription came with:
  • Groundbreaking nail wraps
  • Gold nail art sticker nail gems
I have to say, these nail wraps are easily my favourite nail wraps to use - I have tried quite a few wraps and nothing compares! You can see past reviews and nail looks on Scratch wraps here if you are interested! These ones are really pretty and I can't wait to use them soon!

FOUR

My son's birthday was last weekend and he really wanted a Death Star cake and I took a whole day off for baking - I tried to make a round cake, but it fell apart so I had this idea as my backup! I also made Stormtrooper macarons - it was my first time layering up macaron batter and baking them and they turned out ok. Plus, I baked some Baby Yoda Grogu cookies which were a big hit!

We couldn't do very much for Elliott's birthday again and it was hard going through the second pandemic birthday, but we still made the best of it!

FIVE

I finally found The Mangolorian Mango ale from Alley Kat Brewery and it's soooo good! We decided to celebrate our vaccinations with a few beers and this one is delicious! It's limited edition though so I'm going to have to track down more because it's the perfect Summer beverage! Yum! (Plus AlleyKat is an Alberta brewery!)

Hope you all have a good weekend!
