Boxycharm is a beauty subscription box for $21.00 US a month + $5.00 shipping to Canada (shipping is free to the U.S.) Boxycharm sends 4 to 5 full size and luxury size beauty items.
This subscription focuses heavily on make-up items - so that is something to keep in mind! While it is a little pricier than the more inexpensive beauty boxes, the majority of the products are full size, with a deluxe product every once in a while.
For the past boxes, every subscriber generally receives the same products, with 1 or 2 items that have a few variations. Boxycharm did recently announce that that they are expanding their personalization, so I think from here on out, we will see even more variations with boxes.
The theme of this month's box is called "Boxy Bash" for their Birthday month and this month we are all receiving 6 products instead of 5! Boxycharm comes with a big product card with detailed descriptions on it. Also, I normally do a full face with all my products in my Boxycharm; but, this month didn't scream full face look to me so I skipped that this month.
Here is a closer look at the products I received:
Aesthetica Pro Brush Series: 3-Piece Eyeliner, Brow & Spoolie Brush Set ~ $45.00 US. This set includes one (1) Angled Eyeliner and Eyebrow Brush, One Fine Tipped Eyeliner Brush (1), and one (1) full length Spoolie brush. The included Angled Brow and Eyeliner brush is perfect for all eye and brow shapes. The Synthetic bristles are the perfect balance between soft and stiff and tapered to an angle, for stunningly smooth strokes.
I do think this is a good set - I like the spoolie and the brow/liner brush. The spoolie is a little smaller than normal; but, I like it, it's easier to work with! The brow brush is a good size for me for the brows; but, is probably too big for doing a winged liner for me. The liner brush itself isn't great for me - it's too big and doesn't come to enough of a point for it to work well for me. Also, I think this trio is a tad overpriced if I'm being honest.
Aesthetica Pro Brush Series: Professional Powder Makeup Brush #P12 ~ $27.00 US. With synthetic fibers that allow for maximum control, the P12 face brush is perfect for creating a seamless look.
This is a decent brush - the shape is a little wonky but it's great for applying finishing powder and under the eyes. It's not a super dense so it's good for something that needs a light dusting.
Pur Cosmetics Sculptor Highlight & Contour Palette ~ $30.00 US. Sculptor is a vegan Highlight & Contour Palette with 4 exclusive, blendable, silky smooth highlighter and bronze powders that are universally flattering.
I don't contour - I've given it a few shots and I just won't do it. It doesn't look right when I do it and the last Pur Cosmetics face products that came in Boxycharm weren't my favorite. This also looks a touch too dark for me so I'm just going to pass this on!
Cover FX Blurring Primer ~ $46.00 CAN. A lightweight, soft focus primer that blurs the appearance of pores, fine lines, and other imperfections for ultra-smooth airbrushed skin.
I was really excited to receive this primer - Cover FX is a brand I really want to explore more this year. I am going to hold on to this and open it after I finish a few more primers from my collection!
Beauty Creations Long Wear Matte Lipgloss in "Sweet Heart" ~ $10.00 US. Beauty Creations Matte Liquid Lip Gloss is specially formulated to provide full coverage that dries to a seamless, smooth and matte finish. Its lightweight application is long wearing for an effortless lip color that compliments all skin-tones.
This looks incredibly different than the colour on the website - just a thought if you are looking at it. Also, I'm not sure what makes this a matte lip gloss - it's just a liquid lipstick. It dries down matte and isn't transfer proof. Anyways, it is a nice colour and smells delicious. I do like it.
Pretty Vulgar The Ink Gel Eyeliner in Black List ~ $29.00 CAN. A highly-pigmented, quick-drying, water-resistant gel eyeliner that stays in place all day.
Pretty Vulgar has such awesome packaging - I love this ink pot look! But, it actually makes it really hard to dip the brush in pot and get the right amount of liner on your brush. I do find you often pick up too much on the brush. It was a nice formula and I have to play with it a little longer on the eyes to see how it lasts. (Also, this is swatched with the liner brush included in this month's box).
Boxycharm came with 6 full sized items this month (actually 8 products all together) with a total value of $187.00. I will be honest and say this just isn't my favorite box - there isn't anything in this box that really wowed me. I'm most excited about the liner and the primer, I will use the brushes and lipstick; but, am going to pass on the contour set. I'm still wavering on how long I will keep this subscription going - it has been almost 2 years so I might just need a new subscription!

I can't remember if you've tried Deck of Scarlet? I've been loving that subscription! Really love that it's bimonthly, gives you lots of time to play before the next palette arrives! Lol
ReplyDeleteI've never tried it before - have heard of it; but, how are the quality of the palettes? I haven't seen many reviews on it!
