April 2018 Boxycharm - Unboxing, Swatches, Review, and Full Make-up Look!

Boxycharm is a beauty subscription box for $21.00 US a month + $5.00 shipping to Canada (shipping is free to the U.S.) Boxycharm sends 4 to 5 full size and luxury size beauty items.

This subscription focuses heavily on make-up items - so that is something to keep in mind! While it is a little pricier than the more inexpensive beauty boxes, the majority of the products are full size, with a deluxe product every once in a while.

For the past boxes, every subscriber generally receives the same products, with 1 or 2 items that have a few variations. Boxycharm did recently announce that that they are expanding their personalization, so I think from here on out, we will see even more variations with boxes - for example, this month you would receive 1 of 5 different ColourPop palettes, plus a few variations of other products.

Here is a look at my April Boxycharm:

The theme of this month's box is called "Eye Candy" - cute theme since the big ticket item this month was the ColourPop palettes! They also expanded their product cards this month so they are a fold out card now instead of just a double sided card.

Here is a closer look of the products I received:

ColourPop You Had Me At Hello Pressed Powder Shadow Palette ~ $18.00 US. Highly pigmented shadow that applies evenly and feels ultra-velvety and silky. This long wearing formula contains a unique combination of softer powders which adheres easily to the eyes, gives a soft focus effect, and blends smoothly and evenly.

Ooooh - this is such a stunning palette! It's lots of neutrals, pinky, purple and brown shadows! And it has a great mix of mattes and metallics! I'm a really big fan of the ColourPop single shadows that I have tried - I haven't actually tried their palettes yet; but, have heard amazing reviews about them! (I got hit with customs charges on quite a few of my orders so I stopped ordering from them for a while!)

The Knot metallic cool-toned ivory
Moon Struck metallic soft gold
Two Peasmatte peachy beige
Candygrammetallic pinky red with gold duochrome
Winning Ticketmatte dusty mauve pink
FBOmetallic pink violet
Look-Seematte cool-toned plum
Fool's Rushmetallic golden bronze
Pulling Stringsmatte warm saddle brown
Want U Backmatte dusty mauve brown
DTRmetallic silvery taupe
Sparks Flymatte deep plummy brown

This palette is super pretty! All of the shadows swatched really well and applied so well to the eyes! They lasted a long time and wore well on the eyes! I know these aren't a crazy expensive product; but, I was so excited that they sent out a few palettes. I actually found a few other subscribers who were selling their palettes for a good price and picked up a few!

The BrowGal Instatint - Tinted Eyebrow Gel in Brown Hair 02 ~ $22.00 US. A tinted eyebrow gel formulated with volumizing microfibers to give the look of natural hair. This formula subtly intensifies, defines, and holds brows in place all day.

This did come in a couple shades, so I'm happy I got a shade that matched my eyebrows! I am actually running low on my current brow gel, so this came at a perfect time for me! I thought this worked well - I prefer a more natural brow look and enjoyed this.

This is a closeup of the shadow look I created with the You Had Me at Hello palette and the BrowGal brow gel!

For the eye look, I used Two Peas in the crease, deepened the outer corner of the crease with Look-See and Want U Back. The lid is FBO and Candygram - these are both stunning!

Dr. Brandt Pores No More Vacuum Cleaner Pore Purifying Mask ~ $53.00 CAN. A cooling pore-purifying mask that breaks apart stubborn dirt and oil to unclog pores and shrink their appearance for a clean, less-shiny complexion.

I like Dr. Brandt products and this sounds good - it does have some mixed reviews. I haven't tried this yet because I got my box super late and wanted to get my unboxing up! I will try this and do a seperate Mask Wednesday post on it when I do try it.

Adesse Hi Definition Liquid Lipstick in Haute Cocoa ~ $24.00 US. Luxurious, creamy, long wearing liquid lipstick. Provides the dazzling, full coverage of a lipstick with the ease of wand applicator. Made with advanced polymers and intense pigments for long lasting, brilliant color and intense shine in a single sweep.

Hot Cocoa is described as a A mid-tone taupe beige. It's personally not my favorite shade on me - it feels too 90's to throw on a totally brown lipstick. But the formula is pretty good.

Tarte Tarteist Pro Glow Liquid Highlighter ~ $35.00 CAN. A light-reflecting liquid highlighter to illuminate all skin tones with a healthy, dewy glow.

The shade I received is Sparkler - described as a rose gold highlighter, which sounds like it would be right up my alley!

The Adesse lipstick looks different in the tube - it swatches a much darker brown than it appears. Again, the formula is fine; but, this shade is just too dark.

And, the Tarte highlighter swatched darker than I thought - it is a pretty shade. Buuuut - this does not look nice on the face. It has super chunky glitter in it and just doesn't blend in the cheeks nicely!

Here is the full makeup look using the products from the April 2018 "Eye Candy" Boxycharm! I'm wearing the ColourPop You Had Me At Hello eyeshadow palette on the eyes, the Browgal Instatint on the brows, the Tarte highlighter on the cheeks, and the Adesse lipstick on the lips!

So, Boxycharm came with 5 full sized items  with a value of $152.00. Overall, this box was decent - the best product was by the ColourPop You Had Me At Hello palette! It's a really great quality palette and wears really well. The brow gel is pretty good as well. I have yet to try the mask out; but, the highlighter and the lipstick weren't great for me.

I actually considered cancelling my subscription last month (I think just almost 2 years of a subscription has me at my limit with a subscription); but, I did re-sub for a 3 month subscription because I liked the palette spoiler. But, this month I did experience some poor customer service and they didn't ship my box until the 24th of April - jut a few things that didn't rub me the right way this month. I will see how the next 2 months go; but, I will likely cancel my subscription in June.
