So, I have missed a few Mask Wednesday posts lately; but, I thought I would make up for it today and review not 1, but 4 masks all from Burt's Bees!
I was really excited when I was shopping in the States and came across Burt's Bees face masks! I don't think we have these in Canada yet (correct me if you have seen them somewhere; but, I couldn't find them online at a Canadian retailer yet either and haven't seen them in stores myself!) But, you can still get them if you are interested in Canada - Ulta now ships to Canada and they are available on Ulta's website so you can add one to your next order!
I actually haven't tried many products from Burt's Bees besides their lip balms (which are amazing) and some lotions, but that's about it! I have wanted to try some more products from the brand - I have been really intrigued to try their new makeup and masks, of course, are right up my alley! These masks are made with 99% natural ingredients, and contain no parabens, phthalates or petrolatum.
Burt's Bees Purifying Face Sheet Mask ~ $3.91 CAN ($2.99 US). Give your skin an invigorating experience with Burt's Bees Purifying Sheet Masks. These masks are infused with kiwi extracts and a unique blend of natural ingredients to remove makeup, gently cleanse away pore-clogging dirt and oil while nourishing your skin. Extracts from plants and flowers help to promote healthy skin for a beautiful complexion.
This mask is really straight forward to use - wask face, apply mask over the face, wear for 2 minutes and rinse face after removing mask. So, 2 minutes seems really quick for me to wear a face mask; but, because it's a purifying mask, they must not want you to leave this on too long and dry out the skin while it's clearing the skin!
First off, the fit of this mask is huge - I was surprised by how big it was. Also, the mask didn't have a ton of essence on it so I couldn't really get it to adhere to the face very well. It did have a lot of tabs that could have help fit it on my face a bit better; but, without any essence to adhere the mask, they didn't really serve a purpose on me. This mask did not smell great either - it reminded me of like an antiseptic cleaner. Good thing you're only wearing it for 2 minutes, so it is bearable.
Now, all the complaints aside, I did think this worked decent on my skin. It did feel less oily and clear. It was okay for me, just not a life changing mask.
Burt's Bees Rejuvenating Eye Masks ~ $3.91 CAN ($2.99 US). Consisting of a unique blend of of powerful oils and extracts, it targets the delicate eye area, reinvigorating tired eyes and leaving behind skin feeling nourished smooth and supple.
I love eye masks, so I was excited to try these! These are simple to use - apply to under eye and wear for 5 minutes, then remove and massage remaining essence in to skin.
Burt's Bees Lip Treatment Lip Mask ~ $3.91 CAN ($2.99 US). Burt's Bees Moisturizing Lip Mask hydrates your lips with the moisture and flavor of their lip balms. The single use lip mask moisturizes and hydrates instantly and defines your lips with a blend of natural ingredients including Meadowfoam Seed and Almond Oils. This new Burt's Bees 100% natural hydrating formula leaves behind soft, smooth and nourished lips that will make you pretty pleased.
I also love lip masks (I don't know why I keep saying this - clearly, I love all masks!) But, I do find that lip masks really work to hydrate! These are just like the eye masks to use - wear for 5 minutes! (I do think this is pretty quick for a mask).
These masks were both a thinner mask material than the sheet masks and applied well to the face. Both masks smelled really good - the lip mask smelled amazing! The eye masks are sort of grapefruity and the honey scent of the lip masks is so good! Both of these masks were well soaked in essence and adhered to the face well (the lip masks a little more so than the eye masks). I wore these for longer than 5 minutes too because I love moisturizing benefits.
So, I will say this lip masks is amazing - hands down, as soon as I see these pop up at Canadian retailers or make an Ulta order, I will be picking up a couple of these masks! I left this on for about 15 minutes and it worked so well! My lips were super hydrated and it lasted for hours leaving my lips soft and smooth!
The eye masks did work well too - I thought they did a good job leaving my under eye moisturized and bright (again, I did wear these for about 15 minutes instead of the suggested 5 minutes). My only complaint about the eye masks was that the essence left on the skin felt really greasy, even after it was massaged in to the skin. Now, this doesn't totally bother me - if I use these before bed then I wouldn't mind at all. But, the feeling did last for a couple of hours so I wouldn't suggest using them before applying makeup! Other than that, they did work well.
Burt's Bees Hydrating Face Sheet Mask ~ $3.91 CAN ($2.99 US). Give your skin the gift of long lasting hydration with Burt's Bees Hydrating Sheet Masks. These masks are infused with clary sage to instantly moisturize, balance PH and improve the texture of your skin. Extracts from plants and flowers help to promote healthy skin and effectively keeps the skin hydrated, revitalized, and radiant. They are specially formulated to leave your skin feeling soft and supple.
I always gravitate towards masks that hydrate my skin and improve texture! Again, this mask is straight-forward to use: wash face, apply mask to face, wear for 5 minutes, remove mask and massage remaining essence in to the skin.
Okay, if I thought that the Purifying Mask fit big, the Hydrating Mask fits huge! This is a really thick, quilted material and it did not fit at all. Also, this mask had no essence so it barely adhered to my face at all - the sides basically fell off immediately. Good thing this mask only needs to be worn for 5 minutes, I don't think it could have lasted any longer at all. When I took this mask off, my skin actually felt tacky and drier than before I wore the mask. This was not good at all for me. (But, this mask has really high reviews on Ulta's website, so I could be in the minority here!)
For me, there was some good, some bad and some ugly with these masks; but, this is only my opinion and if you are interested in these masks, I urge you to give them a shot too (especially the lip masks!) Have you tried these masks yet?

The full face masks don't sound too great, but the eye and lip masks do! I'll definitely be keeping an eye out for those. I'm also used to hydrating masks that you usually keep on for 15-20 minutes so I would probably do the same with these.
ReplyDeleteYa... pass on the face masks; but, get the others for sure!
