This subscription focuses heavily on make-up items - so that is something to keep in mind! While it is a little pricier than the more inexpensive beauty boxes, the majority of the products are full size, with a deluxe product every once in a while.
Here is a look at my March Boxycharm:
The theme of this month's box is called "Baecation" - this is a cute theme because Boxycharm and Pur Cosmetics did a beach vacation to launch the palette that is included in this month's box! Boxycharm always includes a detailed product card explaining the items that were included in each month's subscription.
Here is a closer look at the products I received:
Pur Cosmetics x Boxycharm Eyeshadow Palette ~ $36.00 US. This transitional palette can be used now or later to bring vibrancy back into your look. Our signature silky smooth ultra-mattes are paired with pretty pinks and a vibrant blue to lighten the mood. Plus, you can layer the shimmer shades for a duo chrome finish.
I was excited to see this palette in the box - Boxycharm tends to send more neutral palettes (which tend to appeal to larger audiences and I do like them); but, I think this is great for Spring! There is neutrals, peaches and pops of color! Boxycharm has sent Pur Cosmetics a fair bit; but, the last eyeshadow palette I received from this brand I really liked, so I'm excited for this!
This palette has a good mix of mattes, satins and shimmers - I thought the shadows were pretty good. I do think the shadows were a touch powdery and have a little kick up (just tap off the brush and it's not a problem!) The shimmers were super smooth and soft! I personally like that these shadows aren't as crazy pigmented as some people wanted - I think the shades are beautiful and could really be built up and blended nicely on the lids!
Here is the look I created with this palette - I used Purfect as a base shadow and under the brow bone. I used Belle as my transition shade, then really built the upper crease up with Nakey. Then I went in to the crease with BFF and I love this pink! On my lid, I used 3 shimmer - from inner to outer I used Charmer, Bae, and ATL. The lower lash line is MIA buffed out with Nakey.
Pretty Vulgar Make Them Blush Powder Blush in "Prim Vixen" ~ $31.50 CAN. Make Them Blush powder blush awakens your complexion and provides a natural, glowy flush to your cheeks. This silky-smooth formula is long-wearing and highly pigmented. The buildable blush powder can be worn alone or paired for a multidimensional pop of color that will flatter any complexion.
I have been wanting to try Pretty Vulgar since I saw them released last year in Sephora! They have this sort of elaborate, cute packaging!
This is a pretty hot pink blush, I was a little intimidated at first (just in case it went on super pigmented and bold); but, I thought it applied really nicely. It was a light application and could easily be built up!
South Mane Beauty - Revitalizing Under Eye Gels ~ pack of 3 for $9.00 US. Our eye gels are great for an easy mask without the clean-up. They soften and moisturize to ensure that you look rested and refreshed!
I love getting masks in subscription boxes - I personally use them all and really enjoy eye masks! I also like that this came in a set of 3 so we can try them a few times!
I thought these gels had a good amount of essence and these applied to the eye well. They were nice and big that they covered everywhere under the eye. These are suggested to be worn for 15-20 minutes; but, I kept this pair on for 45 minutes and thought they worked well.
The Vintage Cosmetics Company - Smokey Eye Brush Set ~ $30.18 CAN. No one can resist smokey eyes. Stars of the silver screen have been smouldering with it for years. Our Smokey Eye Make-up Set contains a trio of brushes that effortlessly blends shades for maximum impact.
This set contains 3 brushes - shadow brush, angled shadow brush and smudger brush! I will say that Boxycharm is a great subscription if you are interesting in building up your brushes - we do receive a lot of them! These brushes are super soft and worked well. They weren't anything standout or amazing; but, they were fine.
Butter London Double Decker Lashes Mascara ~ $28.00 CAN. Get 200% thicker lashes in just one coat and a 314% increase in lash curl.
I was excited to see Butter London makeup in this month's box! It is a brand I have always wanted to try more from; but, I just don't see them in stores very often! This mascara looks right up my alley and I like the wand - it is thick and full bristled.
Here is a before and after with 3 coats of the Double Decker mascara. I like this mascara - I actually thought it was better with 1 coat - it was a little less clumpy. But, it did leave my lashes pretty. I think I prefer the fullness I get from Diorshow or Lash Paradise. It also flaked a tiny bit by the end of the day. I will still happily use the rest of this.
Here is the full makeup look using the products from the March 2018 "Baecation" Boxycharm! I'm wearing the Pur Cosmetics x Boxycharm palette on the eyes and the Double Decker mascara as well (I also used some of the eyeshadow brushes while creating the look). And I'm wearing the Pretty Vulgar Prim Vixen on my cheeks as well!
So, Boxycharm came with 5 full sized items (technically more as 2 of those were sets of 3) with a value of $134.68. Overall, I'm happy with this month's box. I really love this eyeshadow palette - I do think I will get a lot of use out of it! I also really like the shadow of the blush. It gives a very pretty flush to the skin. The brushes, mascara and eye gels were fine - none were bad products, they just weren't the best in their categories for me!
This was the last month of my 1 year subscription for Boxycharm. I actually considered cancelling my subscription (but the first spoiler for next month totally sucked me in!) so I'm going to renew my subscription but only for 3 months and will see.
Boxycharm has had some issues with shipping boxes out over the last few months and they recently announced they will be expanding the personalization of the box. I know some people will like this; but, for me, that is one thing I struggled with about other boxes such as Ipsy was that I was always looking at what everyone else got and getting annoyed with what I received. Also, after another 3 months I will have been subscribed for 2 full years and it may have run it's course for me at that time! I am still excited for the next 3 months and you can still look forward to full reviews and makeup looks!
What did you think of the March 2018 Boxycharm?
