Glitter lips have been seen on the runway all of last season and I went to a Beauty Trends presentation a few months ago and red lips and glitter lips were a big focus!
While glitter lips are not the most practical makeup - I say who cares! If you are going out for date night, why not step it up and do something bold and sexy for the occasion?! (especially if you aren't going somewhere that you are eating right away!)
I love how these turned out - I was a little worried as I was preparing that they might end up looking too over the top, but they ended up looking like a bold red lip with a little extra glam touch!
These lips are fairly easy to accomplish! Here is a look at the products I used:
Lip Scrub - this is for preparation! I used Lush Bubblegum!
Brushes - lip brushes (I used 2 for different sizes, but 1 is fine!)
Red Glitter!!! - I used Lit Cosmetics Firecracker (I believe it is size 1)
Glitter glue - I used both the Too Faced Glitter Glue Shadow primer and Lit Cosmetics glitter base (again, one is fine!)
Red Lip Liner - I used ColourPop "I Heart This" which is a little pink, but I don't have a red lip liner myself!
Red Base Lipstick - I mixed ColourPop "Poppin" and NYX Liquid Suede in "Kitten Heels" to help blend the more pink lip liner!
To create your own glitter lips (you can also use any colour you like - i'm thinking pink would look great too!):
1. Prep lips - scrub them so they are nice and smooth!
2. Create a base shade - use any red lip liner and lipstick that you are comfortable with a do a basic red lip. I personally wanted to use a matte as the base so that nothing moved around on me as I was applying the glitter!
3. Apply a whole layer of glitter glue to lips
4. Apply glitter using a brush - there is no easy way to describe this! Apply a tiny bit of glue to the brush and dip in to glitter, then gently pat on to lips. Repeat as many times as necessary until lips are fully covered. Take care around the edges and clean up gently with a q-tip if needed!
I paired this bold lipstick with a neutral, smoky eyeshadow, but did pop on a bold pair of lashes to complete the look!
I collaborated with a few other awesome Canadian Beauty Bloggers - they are sharing their Valentine's Day themed post with you as well! Check out the posts from Janine, Desiree, Joanna, Shawna, Natalie, and Sydnee!
Now go rock a really glam look for your date night out! Hope you enjoyed this look!
