March 2015 Beauteque Mask Maven - New Mask Subscription Review

Beauteque is an American company that focuses on creating a beauty bag with Asian Beauty products. Beauteque launched their BB Bag Subscription in January and announced last month that they would be offering a new mask subscription - March is the first month!

The Mask Maven subscription is described as:
"The Mask Maven is a luxurious subscription service offering a lovely assortment of masks each month to keep your skin smooth, soft, and spectacular.
You will receive all kinds of masks including face sheet masks, hand and feet masks, hair masks, wash off masks, and more."

Beauteque Mask Maven is $15 monthly - if you sign up for a longer subscription, you can save a little money: $14 per month if you sign up for 6 months, or $13 per month if you sign up for 12 months). Shipping per month is $3.95 for the U.S., $5.95 to Canada, and $8.95 to Europe.

Each month you can expect to receive 9-11 masks of all varieties (they did announce for March that there would be 10 masks), and also because I signed up for a 3 month subscription when it was first announced, I will receive an extra mask in each month!

Here is a look at the first Mask Maven:

This pouch came in a mailer and arrived much quicker than what I am used to with Beauteque!

I am a little surprised to see 10 sheet masks (and 1 wash off mask which is probably my extra mask?) - not that I am complaining! I love sheet masks, just that Beauteque described the Mask Maven as coming with a variety of masks!

Here is a closer look at the masks:

Ecopure Essential Watermelon Juice! ~ $0.81 ($4.07 for 5). This mask adds quick moisture and soothes skin from heat - has 3 layers of sheets for high absorption.
Sounds good - this actually sounds like it is great for summer or a long day outside!

Missha Pure Source Sheet Mask in "Honey" ~ $1.99. Pure cotton sheet mask enriched with Honey ingredient, makes your fatigued skin firm, glowing, and moisturized.
I have used Missha masks before in a few other types, so I am excited to try the Honey!

Dermal Syn-ake Collagen Essence Mask ~ $0.45 (set of 10 is $4.52). Absorbs quickly for a silkier and firmer skin. Vitamin E and collagen provide nutrients for glowing skin.
I have enjoyed all the syn-ake products I have tried so far, so I look forward to this mask!

Humanpia Costech Avocado Essence Mask ~ $1.80. Avocado extract is also rich in Vitamin E, a free radical scavenger that will assist in slowing the aging process.
I don't think I have tried an avocado mask before!

Humanpia Costech Herb Essence Mask ~ $1.80. Concentrated high moisture and nutrition for cleaning one's skin helps ones get over from skin fatigue and stress.
My skin could use this - I will trying this one tonight!

3W Clinic Fresh Milk Mask Sheet ~ $1.49.  The refreshing mask sheet absorbs into the skin that needs elasticity and organize the skin texture without stickiness. The milk protein extract make the skin soft and comfortable by giving affinity on the skin.
I will try anything to make my skin feel soft! Again, I can't complain about having so many different types of sheet masks to try!!

Medicos V Essential Sheet Mask Snow White - White Hydrating Essential Mask ~ $3. Medicos V Essential Sheet Mask Snow White is a hydrating sheet mask. It will leave your skin moisturized and smooth.
Now that I am not afraid of whitening products - I will try this!

Baroness Collagen Sheet Mask ~ $1.80. Baroness Collagen Mask Sheet is a highly-concentrated-essence type of mask sheet containing collagen. It helps moisturize and protect the skin while also keeping the skin elastic, transparent and healthy!
Looking on the Beauteque website, there is a ton of different types of this kind of mask. I would have preferred a different one, as I already have a collagen mask in this pouch!

My Beauty Diary Luffa Mask ~ $1.99  Luffa, a tropical vine in the cucumber family, is packed with antioxidants that fight free radicals, moisturize, and instantly soothe sensitive or irritated skin. Combined with seaweed extracts, aloe, and a variety of protective amino acids, this essence is ideal for dry or rough complexions. Cosphingo, a patented long-lasting moisturizer derived from seaweed, provides extra hydration for thirsty skin. Extracted via a patented low-temperature technique, the luffa and plant ingredients retain their cooling properties and nourish the skin for a healthy, pearlescent look.
I have never heard of a luffa before?! Interesting - I have used My Beauty Diary Masks before and really liked them.

My Beauty Diary Arbutin Whitening Mask ~ $1.99. My Beauty Diary Arbutin Whitening Mask contains a highly effective whitening formula that restores and invigorates dull skin, giving your face an even, pearlescent glow. Arbutin, a popular whitening ingredient derived from uva ursi plant extract, resists melanin and breaks it down beneath the skin. Natural plant extracts (like Japanese cherry blossoms and licorice) and vegetable extracts (like cucumber) work to purify and soothe the skin. Fruit extracts (like pineapples and apples) provide the enzymes and antioxidants necessary to metabolize dead cells, promote cell renewal, and allow skin to better diffuse light. Cosphingo, a patented long-lasting moisturizer extracted from seaweed, provides hydration. Free of paraben preservatives, alcohol, and fluorescent agents.
Again, my only complaint is that with all the different types of My Beauty Diary masks, it would have been nice to get a different kind as there is already a whitening mask in here!

Bonus Item: Nature Republic Pack - Hawaiian Fresh Mango Pack - 1 time use size.

So altogether, I pay $21.99 for this subscription (plus the crappy conversion rate right now, so a little bit more), and I received 10 sheet masks with a total value of $17.12. While this pouch reaches the value of what I paid for it, the $7 shipping does not get covered at all.

I do have to say, I don't expect a whopping value in a mask bag, as long as it is around what I paid. I like getting a ton of sheet masks, but Beauteque promised a variety of all types of masks! I would have preferred a little more variety as I got 2 whitening and 2 collagen masks! I am subscribed for 3 months, so I am interested to see what next month will bring - for now I will without major judgement and see what the next bag brings!

This was the first Mask Maven bag, but if you would like to see my reviews of the Beauteque BB Bag you can go here - and if you are interested in signing up for Mask Maven or the BB Bag, you can go to the website here.

What did you think of the first Mask Maven bag?

  1. Love your review! I was super tempted in signing up for this but I have over 30 sheet masks I need to finish up first lol! I agree with you on the shipping though, I wish they were able to offer free shipping as many other subs do!

    1. Thank you!!! I should have waited to sign up for this too (my sheet mask stash is getting a little out of control!), but I had to try it - I love mask subscriptions and there is not many out there!!
But yes, I wish they offered free shipping - it would have made the value much better!!

  2. A ton of sheet masks was what I expected, but I did hope for something a little more interesting.

    1. I think you nailed it - I was waiting for the wow factor! Even if it was all sheet masks, one should have been a little more exciting!

  3. Too bad they didn't meet the cost with value, even if it meant throwing in another five sheet masks.

    1. Yes I found the value dissapointing - I don't expect it to be too much more, but I do want to get what I paid for sure!!

  4. Great review! It seems like there are so many mask subscriptions opening up now that I don't know which one to choose. This doesn't seem like a bad pouch, although I do wish there would be more options and brands in a bag. Can't wait to read your reviews on the next 2 mask bags! ^^ #kbeautybloghop

    1. Yes I wasn't super mad about this subscription - I am excited to try all the masks! It is hard to pick which mask subscription to pick - I am still getting Mask Genie and will compare the 2 next month!!

  5. I think the thing that bothers me about this subscription is that a lot of the masks they included are insanely cheap on Rose Rose Shop. The Baroness ones as well as the 3W Clinic Masks cost under $2 for a pack of 10. Shipping can get pricey with Rose Rose Shop, but I still feel like Beauteque puts a "value" on these masks that clearly isn't what they're worth. Idk. You're right that it's a nice variety of masks and a decent price for anyone that just wants a variety of sheet masks to use each month, but I agree there should be a better variety rather than all sheets. Great review! #kbeautybloghop

    1. Thank you! Yes, that's the biggest problem with all sheet masks is that they are easy to buy in bulk for everyone! I have my fingers crossed that I will be happier with next month!!

  6. I found myself disappointed with some of the masks I received as well. While I didn't really get an repeats (like multiple collagen masks, for example), the value of the masks felt overvalued. I hope next month is better since it will be their second month. I guess I'm just glad that I signed up for 3 months only. #kbeatuybloghop
