Five on Sunday - January 7, 2024 ~ Happy 2024 and Looking Back At 2023, Welcome to the O.C. Book Review, Month of Vegetarian/Pescatarian Meals, Michael's Craft Haul, and Top Gun: Maverick

Happy Friday everyone - it's my first Five on Friday of 2024 and we are entering my 10th year of blogging! Woo! (and whoops - I'm already late, but I wasn't feeling great this weekend, so I took the evenings to rest instead of blogging!)

ONE

I tend to start the year by first looking back on my year - I did set some goals for myself in 2023: Be More Thoughtful in My Spending, Scrapbook 3 Years, Masking and Indulging Myself More, Play and Have More Fun With Makeup and Move My Body More. I did for the most part reach these - I've stuck to my budget and working on my scrapbooking. I could certainly mask and self-care a little more and I've been getting good at moving my body. Honestly though, I've decided not to really set goals for 2024 - I am happy with what I've been doing and just enjoying life for what it is right now, so I'm not setting myself any hard goals. (I have some personal goals, but nothing that's really blog related).

Also, I did set a goal of trying 4 new brands - Phytosurgence, Jojos Bath Bombs, Conserving Beauty, and SeaFlora Skincare. I didn't try any of these, so again I'm not setting any goals in this area for myself! I just don't like "failing" at things that I've set but only because like I had to set a goal instead of for a real reason for myself.

TWO

I'm always excited to share good books and Welcome to the O.C. by Alan Sepinwall was the best book to read to finish my year off! 4.5 stars - I loved this! I was a huge O.C. fan and this is a whole oral history with the writers/producers/directors/actors for the 20th Anniversary. For me, this was the ultimate teen show when I was growing up. This would have premiered just before my Grade 12 year in school and I remember watching it compulsively (I even did a re-watch this year for nostalgia sakes and I still loved it). This gave some great insight in the timelines of the show, how everyone was on set and what led to the direction of the show and decisions made (yes, I still can't believe they decided to kill off Marissa), but it was interesting to see what was going on behind the scenes that we wouldn't have been privvy to as the audience. If you are a fan, this was a great recap!

THREE

It's been two years since I went vegetarian and I've been enjoying sharing my veggie meals. I hope that you guys have been enjoying seeing all the recipes and veggie meal ideas! I'm not preachy about going vegetarian, but I do think everyone should reduce their meat consumption, so even if one day a week you want to do meatless Monday, hoping you will find some good suggestions! Also, I'm also going to include some of my eating out meals instead of just cooked for a little more inspiration if you are looking to eat vegetarian while out!

(Also, this month there are a few pescatarian meals in here as I eat fish and seafood once in a while!)

I also have codes for $90 off a GoodFood box so leave me your email if you are interested! (A ton of these meals were from them this month, not sponsored, just busy and loving these!)

FOUR

I picked up a few goodies for my new miniature crafting adventure that I've been getting in to - I found some cute flooring, a globe and a wine and cheese board! Plus, I picked up some glue. I can't wait to show you what this looks like when it's done!

FIVE

I finally watched the new Top Gun: Maverick Movie and honestly, it was not bad - it was super corny (but isn't the first one too?!) and I thought it was pretty fun overall. Lots of action and tension and it was good!

I hope you all had a good weekend!
