Five on Saturday - June 3, 2023 ~ Vegan Club Restaurant, March Month of Vegetarian and Pescatarian Food, Peonies, Painted Bread and Great Kids Science Experiment

Happy Friday everyone - I hope you all had a great week. I've still been trying to fight off a cold this week, so I've been trying to take things easy!

ONE

I purchased everything in this post

This past weekend, we went to check out a new restaurant - Vegan Club in Kensington and it was really good! Everything is vegan and we just shared appetizers and they were so yummy! The calamari was mushrooms and it was fantastic, the wings were cauliflower and they were delicious. The chicken bao was delicious and the veggie gyoza was good! I will definitely be back!

TWO
It's been over a year, since I went vegetarian and I've been enjoying sharing my veggie meals. I hope that you guys have been enjoying seeing all the recipes and veggie meal ideas! I'm not preachy about going vegetarian, but I do think everyone should reduce their meat consumption, so even if one day a week you want to do meatless Monday, hoping you will find some good suggestions! Also, I'm also going to include some of my eating out meals instead of just cooked for a little more inspiration if you are looking to eat vegetarian while out!
(Also, this month there are a few pescatarian meals in here as I eat fish and seafood once in a while!)

-BBQ Portobello Mushrooms, Caesar salad and pasta salad
-Breakfast for dinner - potatoes, eggs and pancakes with a green smoothie
-Ikea veggie dogs, potatoes, and coleslaw

THREE

I love when Sobey's has their $12 peonies - these are of course my favourite flowers and their bouquets are so lovely! My favourite flowers to brighten up any room!

FOUR

Have you seen this new instagram trend of painting bread?! I thought it was so cute! I think the icing you paint with needs to be a little thicker, but it was still cute! I used this basic bread recipe from Handmade Farmhouse for this Easy Artisan Bread and it's so good!

FIVE

We love following Busy Toddler - she always has great kids suggestions. We've had this "science experiment" saved for a while and just tried it - Elliott says its the best one ever! Super easy - we put some basic oil in a cup, and dyed some water. Using a dropper/medicine plunger just drop the water in to the oil and watch it drop and separate. So cool. Then we saved the mixture so we can reuse/shake up and talk about density!

I hope you all have a great weekend!

  1. The physics behind plant-based living is as fascinating as the science in this blog. Just like pancakes, the lecture was a delightful mix of knowledge and fun. Kudos to the speaker for flipping our perspectives on veganism. Can't wait for more tasty insights on the physics of a compassionate lifestyle. Kudos for sharing such a delightful and mouth-watering experience. Can't wait to explore more of these Saturday highlights in the future. Martabak Manis Singapore you will also like.
