Happy Friday everyone! Hope you have had a great week! I know it's been quiet around here; but, it has been a really busy week for me! It is my last week before work - I go back on Tuesday (where did the time go?!) So, this week has just been packed with appointments like crazy, plus I have been shopping and prepping for Elliott's birthday party and daycare!
ONE
We took Elliott for a little Cake Smash session today! In Calgary, if you take your child's passport pictures at The Village Studio, right now you get a free cake smash session for their birthday! (Highly recommended for infants passport's pictures too!) They would have provided a cake; but, I really wanted to flex my baking and cake decorating skills (I used to bake all the time!)
I'm so happy with how the cake turned out! I just piped the face and sides with a star tip, filled in the mouth with black icing and the eyes are marshmallows! And, I just printed an iron-on transfer for the shirt! Be prepared to see a lot of baby cake smashing pictures next week!
TWO
Oh man, I am trying to prepare to go back to work next week! I got a little hair refresh - cut a few inches off and refreshed my dark shade! Will new hair help me be ready for work again?! I just can't believe the time has come - I have actually been off work for over a year (I was on medical leave for a month and a half before Elliott was born!), so it feels like it has been forever since I worked! I just loved being home so much that I'm not quite ready to go back yet!
THREE
Okay, but now that I am going back to work, I feel like I can actually use my makeup collection again! I so rarely do a full face of makeup being home with the baby, that my eye shadow palettes are just sitting there waiting for me to use them!
I think I am going to try something new and feature a Palette of the Week - bascially where I focus on one eyeshadow palette and see how much use I can actually get out of it during the week! I have a few rules (no Natasha Denona or Viseart shadows will be included because my work place is not good enough for that!), but all palettes are fair game, and some will be randomly chosen for the week and some I will pick. I can also pair them with other shadows too. It's more just about finding out how much use I will get out of them! And, I think I will do quick reviews on my Five on Friday posts or a feature post if I haven't talked about it on my blog! Anyways, just a new way to get back in to my eyeshadows!
FOUR
So, Elliott has a cow teapot that sits near him at meal times, so he has started to like cows. He is super cute and if you ask him what a cow says, he will say "Mmmmmmaaaa" - haha, it's so cute! We took him to Aggie Days last weekend - and as soon as we walked up to this cow, he was mooing at it! So cute!
FIVE
And, just a sneak peek for all the cake coming up next weekend - here is Elliott digging in to cake for the first time last weekend! We actually had a baby party for our Baby Class so there was 8 babies all digging in to cake together and it was hilarious - some were shovelling it in and some wouldn't touch it! Elliott has a sweet tooth so he enjoyed himself!
I hope you all have a great weekend - Elliott's party is on Sunday so the rest of our weekend will be prepping for that!

What a great job on Elliott's cake and T-shirt! I love them both, I follow some great instagram baking feeds, I just need to bake now! I hope you have a great week back at work, its nice you are going in as a manager - new challenges and hopefully a new bigger paycheque ;) Your eyeshadow palette weekly review sounds really good and I am sure I will be inspired to buy some new eyeshadow colours! Enjoy your weekend, it looks like spring has finally arrived in Alberta!
ReplyDeleteThanks Brenda! Baking is fun - but you really need the time for it, or the occasion! Such a beautiful weekend and thanks for the work wishes! I hope it goes well!
