Happy Tuesday - on man, I'm starting off all my posts a little late this year, but I've still been sick so I have been going to bed super early and just trying to take care of myself a little more!

So, I did get to my nails late, but I did still get to them! And, sticking with my theme of the Colour of the Year - Peach Fuzz theme, I've got some shimmery peach nails! The whole #CBBxManiMonday group is doing an Anything Goes theme for the month so we can all just ease ourselves in to the New Year before diving in to themed manis!

Happy Friday everyone - I hope you all had a great week! It's been a lost cause of a week here - my little guy has been sick since the weekend so we've been in survival mode for the week, and I thought I was on track for Christmas prep and now I haven't sent out cards or wrapped anything and I'm feeling a little rushed!

If you would have told me at the start of the year that a trilogy of hockey books would be some of my favourite books of the year, I would have laughed, but I cannot sing enough praise about the Beartown series that includes Beartown, Us Against You and The Winners by Fredrik Backman. Of course, these are much more than a book about hockey - its about the characters, choices we make, how we respond to crisis, friendships, family, love, toxic masculinity, violence, everything is touched on in these books and handled so well - Fredrik Backman is a master with words and these books were so impactful.

Well, I always get excited because the start of a New Year means a new Pantone Colour of the Year - I'm so excited for the 2023 Colour of the Year because it is Viva Magenta! I love pinks and magentas and it's such a gorgeous colour family - I feel like I'm going to get a lot of inspiration from this colour!

I hope you all had a good week - mine was pretty good, we had a busy weekend last weekend, but I'm so excited it's finally December and we are getting closer to Christmas!

I had so much fun yesterday morning at the opening of the Nutcracker Immersive show in Calgary - I took the family and it was really cool! Both boys loved the show and the big screens were really great! Was a cute take on the show (I really wanted to see the Sugar Plum Fairy, but the kids liked the focus on the battle with the Rat King). Great introduction to the Nutcracker for those that aren't ready for the ballet!

Shop My Stash Makeup Look - January 2022 ~ Very Peri Eyeshadow Look

Happy Wednesday everyone! I'm so so excited that this past weekend I was able to sit down and play with some makeup (it's been a little while!) I really want to focus on using products in my collection, and so today's look is a "Very Peri" eyeshadow look based on the 2022 Pantone Colour of the Year!

I don't have anything that it is quite "Very Peri" in my collection, but I have a lot of purples and some blues, so I thought I would be able to pull a look together, and honestly - I'm so happy with how this look came out! It's deep, but shimmery and pretty! It's a little more cool-toned than I normally go and I like it!

I decided for my first look of the year, that I was going to go out of my comfort zone and do a makeup look inspired by Pantone's Colours of the Year for 2021 - Ultimate Grey and Illuminating! They chose two colours, grey and yellow for "a marriage of color conveying a message of strength and hopefulness that is both enduring and uplifting."

I've been focusing a lot this year on shopping and supporting local (if you missed my huge Shop Local YYC post make sure you check it out!) But, what I didn't feature any local authors and I felt like that was really important - I've been reading like crazy this year and I think when we consider shopping local, there will be books by local authors/photographers/chefs that you can find for anyone on your list! (Plus, sometimes local authors books come signed and I think that is amazing and such a great touch for a gift - 2 of these books are signed!) Also, if you can support a local indie bookstore while you are at it, that would be perfect!

I'm actually both terrified and totally intrigued by sharks - I would 100% go in a cage to see them; but, when I was snorkelling in open water I was totally afraid to see one on my own! But, I actually really want to plan a trip to see whale sharks!

I typically avoid blue makeup - I think it looks so good on some people; but, it's never felt like a colour that I could pull off! But, because Pantone announced the 2020 Colour of the Year as Classic Blue, I really wanted to have fun with the colour! 

Manicure Monday - Sponged Winter Nails + Scratch Wonderland Nail Wraps

Happy Manicure Monday everyone! I just got home from Mexico at 1:00 am this morning and it was so friggin cold (a high of -25 celsius today!) Yikes - a big shock, so clearly I had to go with a Winter theme nail look!

Because I got home so late, I had to do these nails quickly this morning and they only took 15 minutes - they have lots of layers and I used a sponging technique since this months #CBBxManiMonday theme for the month is "experiments"!

How amazing did these Stained Glass nails turn out?! I'm rather obsessed with them and love how they turned out! I also wanted to stick to a blue theme because I wanted to represent the Pantone Colour of the Year for 2020 - Classic Blue! (This is a little on the lighter side of classic blue, but this is what I have in my collection!)

Happy Manicure Monday everyone! Can you believe this is the last Mani Monday of 2019?! And, I'm being a bad nail blogger without having anything new this week! But, instead I'm recapping my Favourite Nail Art looks from the past year!

This is probably my favourite nail art of the year! I did these Emoji nails for Valentine's Day and I think they turned out so cute. I love how the lips and the kissy face turned out - and the heart eyes and heart turned out well too! You can see the original post right here!
