June 2020 - Monthly Empties

Time for a look at my beauty garbage:

June 2020 - Monthly Empties
Some products were received as PR samples - this post contains affiliate links

Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask Apple Lime ~ deluxe size (full size is $26.00 CAN). A leave-on lip mask that soothes and moisturizes for smoother, more supple lips overnight.

I really love the original formula of this lip mask - it's fantastic. This is the second deluxe size of a scented one I've tried and I just don't think the formula is quite as good as the original. This worked well and left my lips nice and smooth, but not as amazing as the original!
Repurchase: Will likely repurchase the original, trying another brand right now!

Essie Gel Couture Top Coat ~ $13.99 CAN. Quick drying top coat that seals and helps protect, to magnify shine for an ultra-glossy finish.

This was a good top coat - I like using the gel polish top coats over regular polish to help the polish last longer. It was good and I've used it for a ton of manis; but, I think I prefer the Sally Hansen one a touch over this as I think sometimes it lead to polish cracking a little (especially after almost 3 years of having it!)
Repurchase: Maybe

Zoella Beauty Splash Botancis So Soft Lip Oil ~ $7.99 CAN. Soften your lips with this sweet cherry scented lip oil, enriched with a conditioning blend of sweet almond, jojoba and argan oils to nourish and hydrate.

This isn't a brand I have seen anything new from in a while, but it was mostly bath products. I actually really enjoyed this lip oil, I loved the applicator and it left my lips hydrated!
Repurchase: Probably, but I think it's discontinued

Ofra Universal Eyebrow Pencil ~ $13.00 US. Perfect your brow routine with this pencil that will define, enhance, and shape.

I got this quite a long time ago in a subscription box so I used it in my most recent Project Pan and was able to finish it up! It was basically full size in January and took until early May to finish was daily use, so it hung in there pretty good. T
he more I use this product, the more I don't like it - it's too waxy and it just doesn't look good on my brows, and I have to sharpen it every single use.
Repurchase: No

Lush Twilight Body Spray ~ $34.95 CAN. When you want to feel really cozy, safe and at peace, spritz this heavenly blend of lavender and tonka all over.

This can be used as a body spray, room spray or pillow spray. I personally tended to use it as a pillow or sheet spray before bed because it's so calming and relaxing! I've had problems sleeping and falling asleep, so it's actually really helpful for me - it made my Best of 2018 Products  and it lasted for quite a while using only 1 spray per night!
Repurchase: Yes, trying a different brand right now but I really like this one

June 2020 - Monthly Empties

Glamglow Dreamduo Overnight Transforming Treatment ~ deluxe sizes shown here (full size is both products together for $77.00 CAN). A moisturizing serum and seal dream team overnight treatment for visibly plumper, more hydrated skin that lets you to wake up to a soft, smooth complexion.

The dreamserum is the while bottle and the dreamseal is the grey bottle - I will count these as one empty because in the full size product, the packaging has a split down the middle with both inside. You are supposed to use both in combination with each other. I thought they worked fine and the best part is the smell - I love the scent of Glamglow products! I thought these were okay but I didn't notice a drastic difference for the cost of the full size product.
Repurchase: Not likely

Graydon All Over Elixir Oil ~ sample size (fill size was $37.96 CAN). Infused with precious sandalwood, chamomile and soothing lavender will leave your whole body feeling moisturized and rejuvenated.

This is meant to be a face or body oil - it was fine and worked well. It has since been discontinued and replaced with newer face oil. This was fine, but it did smell a little off as it was getting old.
Repurchase: No, I can't

Paula's Choice Peptide Booster ~ $52.00 US. Unlock firmer-looking skin with eight powerful peptides that make skin more resilient and reduce the appearance of lines.

This was one of my favourite boosters - it made my Monthly Favourites in February of this year! My skin looked brighter and smoother when I was using this - it targets
firmness, dullness, wrinkles and discolouration. You can use it alone or add it to your moisturizer and I really liked it!
Repurchase: Yes

Belif Witch Hazel Herbal Extract Toner ~ $37.00 CAN. A toner formulated with witch hazel to hydrate dry, dull skin, leaving it hydrated, soothed, and balanced after cleansing.

I've heard mixed reviews about witch hazel skincare products, but I felt like this agreed with my skin and using this consistently has lead to less redness and a more even skin tone -  balanced is the perfect word for how this leaves my skin (it even made my September 2019 Monthly Favourites).
Repurchase: Likely, after I use up a few more!

Neutrogena Make-Up Removing Cleansing Wipes Night Calming Duo ~ $19.99 CAN for 2 packs of wipes. Gently and effectively dissolve all traces of dirt, oil and make-up from your face.

These "night calming" wipes apparently have a unique scent to help you unwind - I really didn't notice a scent; but, these worked well and removed makeup. This is one of the only type of face wipes that I think actually remove most makeup, so I tend to stick to these ones. I try and use wipes a little less to not be as wasteful, but these can be used a couple times too for one sheet which is great!
Repurchase: Yes

Riversol Refreshing Gel Cleanser x2 ~ samples shown (full size is $29.00 US). Gently removes make-up and impurities to unclog pores.

I got a three week set of Riversol products a while ago and this cleanser packet was supposed to last a week - there is no way. I think these each lasted 2 or 3 days maybe, which is a good size sample, but not a week. It was fine, nice and gentle but nothing outstanding.
Repurchase: Eh, not likely

June 2020 - Monthly Empties

Acure CGF Oil Free Serum ~ sample size (full size was $22.99 US). A targeted infusion of chlorella and plant stem cells make for a great lightweight brightening serum.

This was another older sample that is now discontinued - can you tell that I am trying to work my way through some older products before using my newer ones?! This was fine, nothing spectacular and is now no longer available.
Repurchase: Not possible

Fresh Seaberry Skin Nutrition Booster ~ sample shown (full size is $62.00 CAN). An antioxidant-rich booster of concentrated oils and extracts specifically designed to be mixed with face and eye creams for amplified protection and nourishment.

I'm usually a fan of the products from Fresh that I have tried. This was a good booster and thought it was good, but in terms of results (skin strengthening and smoothness) I can get comparable results from the Vichy booster that is a little less expensive than this.
Repurchase: Probably not

Graydon Skincare The Putty ~ sample shown (full size is $46.00 CAN). Made with a proprietary blend of all the best superfood ingredients, it is specifically formulated to calm your complexion, by relieving redness and skin irritation.

This was a thicker cream that can be used on eczema, psoriasis, rosacea - I used this on my body instead of my face, just based on how thick it was. It did work well on elbows and eczema patches, but not something I need to necessarily use often.
Repurchase: I would if I needed it

Saturday Skin Freeze Frame Beauty Essence ~ sample shown (full size is $47.00 US). Pomegranate extract infuses skin with rich moisture, boosting elasticity and firmness.

Again, another essence/serum that I have been working my way through (I organized my serums by year and I am sing up the oldest ones before the newer ones so nothing goes bad). This was a fine essence, it is hard to tell how well this worked with two uses, but it seemed fine (also, this brand is available at Sephora but not this essence so it's harder to find).
Repurchase: Not likely

Peach Slices Acne Spot Dots ~ $4.49 US. he sticker-like hydrocolloid acts as a protective cover over the treated area to keep you from picking and quickly and effectively helps reduce inflammation so the blemish becomes visibly smaller in less than one day.

I'm pretty picky about my spot treatments because I haven't found many brands that have compared to the CosRX patches! These ones are really good - I love that they have 3 different sizes in the package and they work incredibly quickly, like overnight bringing acne to the surface and then one night clearing it up! I'm super impressed with these ones and thought they worked great! The only thing is I wish they were more accessible in Canada, as I just picked these up at a local CVS when I was in the States on vacation! These even made my favourites in May 2020
Repurchase: Yes, eventually

Pixi Beauty Glow Tonic ~ $20.00 CAN (Also comes in larger and smaller sizes). The Pixi Glow Tonic 100ml miracle working toner helps brighten the complexion resulting in a healthier glow.

This toner is made with 5% glycolic acid and is really meant to brighten, exfoliate and smooth the skin! I don't use this every day as I'm just not in to the every day exfoliation personally, I use it every other evening on my skin and it has really improved the texture and appearance of my skin - I had noticeable texture on my forehead and it totally cleared it up and really helped brighten my skin! It was a Favourite Skincare product of 2018, so it's a pretty regular product.
Repurchase: Likely

Bioderma Sensibio H2O Micelle Solution ~ $19.90 CAN for 500 ml (comes in smaller sizes as well and without a pump top). The cleansing and make-up removing water in Canada that respects the fragility of sensitive skin.

I've raved about this before - it is easily my holy grail makeup remover. It works so well and is gentle on the skin. I prefer without the pump top because I thought maybe I was using up the product faster than without but it could have been my cotton rounds as well.
Repurchase: Yes!

June 2020 - Monthly Empties

Aveeno Active Naturals Daily Moisturizing Hand Cream ~ $9.99 CAN. Lasts through hand washing and non-greasy.

I feel like I am going through hand cream at a pretty steady rate - I have 5 or 6 in all different areas. This one was my beauty room one and it worked really well and left my hands nice and hydrated!
Repurchase: If I ever need to buy hand cream again

Bath Time Box Cooling Bath Soak ~ $8.50 CAN. This cooling bath soak is designed to cool and soothe our overheated bodies. With a luscious lavender infusion, coupled with nourishing aloe, this bath soak is both soothing and refreshing.

This was great I almost used this all up years ago and forgot about it! When I organized all my products by dates, I knew I needed to use this up! This was good, I always loved all the Bath Time Box products I got!
Repurchase: I don't think it's available anymore

Zoella Cosmic Milky Way Bath Milk Powder ~ $9.99 CAN. This dreamy, moisturising bath milk powder enriched with soothing vanilla and peppermint is the perfect way to soothe your senses and leave your skin feeling beautifully soft and hydrated.

The scent of this bath powder is vanilla and peppermint is really bright and refreshing! I enjoyed these and thought they were good to use, but not my preferred bath product.
Repurchase: Eh, maybe

Soak It! Canada Grapefruit Mint Organic Sugar Scrub ~ $?

I won this years ago (I am so slow at getting through my scrubs!) and it smelled delicious. By the end it was getting a little stiff, but it lasted a long time and foamed up well. I'm not sure this brand is available anymore.
Repurchase: No can do

Molton Brown Jasmine & Sun Rose Bath & Shower Gel ~ deluxe size (full size is $38.50 CAN). The luxurious formula gently cleanses and rejuvenates, whilst releasing a fresh, floral fragrance that combines notes of Raspberry and Peach with Rose, Jasmine and Labdanum accords.

I received this in a LookFantastic advent calendar and it's a really good bubble bath - it foamed up well and lasted. It's so expensive though, so I will likely not be buying it again even if it was the best bubble bath in the world.
Repurchase: No

June 2020 - Monthly Empties

Batiste Dry Shampoo Original Mini Travel Size ~ $4.97 CAN. A few quick sprays instantly transform your look, leaving hair looking clean and fresh with added body and texture.

I know this is a pretty cult classic dry shampoo; but, it's just okay to me. It works pretty good - but the white cast is strong. I have to use this before bed so it can absorb all night so I have no white cast.
Repurchase: Maybe...

Acure Dry Shampoo For All Hair Types ~ deluxe size shown (full size is $13.99 CAN). Easy to use, fast acting, dry shampoo that absorbs oil and removes grime without water! Convenient and effective!

This was my first powder dry shampoo and I realize now I should have probably used a brush to apply instead of just puffing it on to my roots and letting it get messy. This was okay, it doesn't add any texture but does absorb oils so it works.
Repurchase: Maybe

R+Co Television Perfect Hair Shampoo ~ $36.00 CAN. TELEVISION Perfect Hair Shampoo gives you everything you need for the small screen: body, shine, strengthening, softening, and smoothing. This is why we call it perfect!

R+Co Television Perfect Hair Conditioner ~ $36.00 CAN. Put a smile on your face. Companion to the shampoo with the same name - TELEVISION Perfect Hair Conditioner gives you everything you need for the small screen: body, shine, strengthening, softening, and smoothing. The results – crazy good ratings.

I got these in a FabFitFun box and I've heard good things about this brand; but, these ones didn't really work well for me. My hair got oily and greasy quickly with these, I almost stopped using these, but I finished them just to not waste them but I didn't enjoy it.
Repurchase: No

Q-Tips Cotton Swaps ~ $3.97 CAN.

Q-tips are a must have - not much else to say about them!
Repurchase: Yes

June 2020 - Monthly Empties

Lush Snowman Bomb Bomb ~ $9.95 CAN. A minty-fresh bath in two acts. Use both halves to be hit by a snowy blast of mint, or choose one at a time. Just remember, this holiday creation melts away in the New Year!

How adorable is these little 2 piece bath bomb?! They stand up and are so adorable! The spearmint scent in this bath bomb was refreshing! This was from a past Christmas collection.
Repurchase: Maybe

Christian Siriano Brush Cleanser ~ $?

This came with a brush set - I think it was limited edition a few years ago. This was a fine spray cleaner - I like to alternate sprays and a deep clean.
Repurchase: Can't

June 2020 - Monthly Empties

BioMiracle Hyaluronic Acid Micro Needle Patch ~ $4.99 US. Micro needle patch effectively delivers Hyaluronic Acid into the skin without the pain and fear of using needles, Hyaluronic Acid is a moisturizer that our bodies naturally produce, and help maximize the elasticity of the skin by filling and moisturizing.

BioMiracle Crazy Lift Chin & Neck Mask ~ $4.99 US. Stretchy and resilient fabric is wrapped like a bandage and tightly attached to the skin, doubling the lifting effect and effectively applying active ingredients to the skin.

These were certainly a contender for some of the weirdest or craziest masks I've ever tried - if you want to see a full review and what they look like on, you can check out my review here! I did think both were smoothing and were fun to use!
Repurchase: Yes, likely

June 2020 - Monthly Empties

Maskeraide Bubble Bubble Pop Pore Cleansing Charcoal Bubble Mask ~ $7.00 CAN. Want the bubbly truth? We all need a pore-deep cleanse every once in awhile, so why not do it in a fun bubbly way!

Another mask I've reviewed - you can see my full thoughts here. Clearly this one bubbled up really well and I thought it left my skin nice and clean!
Repurchase: Yes, I would

Altogether, including masks I used up 34 products this month! A good combo of skincare, bath, hair, makeup and nail products! I'm going to add up the totals of each category I'm using up to see how much I use up by the end of 2020, so these numbers are from the start of the year:

-Makeup: 32
-Skincare: 40
-Bath and Body: 25
-Haircare: 16
-Nails: 3
-Masks: 29
-Other: 27
