Five on Friday - July 10, 2020

Happy Friday everyone! I hope you all had a great week - I had a good week and now I'm starting two weeks of vacation and I'm so looking forward to it. We are going to visit our family in B.C., we are still going to be socially distancing and staying safe, and then we are going to the cabin for a week and it's just going to be nice and relaxing!

ONE

I purchased everything in this post - this post contains affiliate links

I just received my June Owlcrate subscription and this month's theme is "All The World's A Stage". Each month the book Owlcrate includes is signed by the author and comes with a note from the author as well - they often have special edition covers just for the box, and they seem to include a lot of exclusive items just for Owlcrate, which is so fun! As a bookworm, I have been loving this subscription!

The items included in this month's box are:
  • Book - Where Dreams Descend by Janella Angeles ~ this is gorgeous hard cover printed book with foiled detailing on the hardcover! This book isn't actually released until August, so it's great that we got it a little early! It's described as "In a city covered in ice and ruin, a group of magicians face off in a daring game of magical feats to find the next headliner of the Conquering Circus, only to find themselves under the threat of an unseen danger striking behind the scenes. As each act becomes more and more risky and the number of missing magicians piles up, three are forced to reckon with their secrets before the darkness comes for them next." Sounds great and I love the idea of a circus book!
  • Enamel Pin ~ this month's pin is designed by Blissfully Bookish Co. and it's a stamp based design from Where Dreams Descend.
  • Habit Tracker ~ this pad is inspired by the Greatest Showman and it's to help you keep track of your goals every week. I actually do this at the bottom of my planner with exercise and scrapbooking; but, I'm not sure if I need a whole different pad for that.
  • Shower Steamer ~ This is made by Whipped Up Wonderful! and the scent is a coffee and orange scent inspired by the special cocktails from Ace of Shades (this is a book I haven't read yet, but I want to) and it smells delicious!
  • Pencil Holder ~ This is inspired by my favourite book, The Night Circus, and it was designed by Forensics and Flowers. It is a pencil holder or has a lid to be a coin bank. It's already replaced my previous pencil holder.
  • Coffee ~ this is Cirque du Freak Coffee by Bones Coffee and it is mini donut flavoured! That is the perfect circus themed coffee! I can't wait to use this!
If you are interested in signing up, Owlcrate is $29.99 US per month, plus shipping, which just went up to $14.99 to Canada.

I know that this is a little expensive with conversion, but I'm a bookworm and I've really been loving the products they send and love some of the exclusive items they include! I might take a break for a while after next month's subscription just because I have lots of books and the price is going up!

TWO

This week is supposed to be Stampede Week here in Calgary and one of the best parts of Stampede is crazy food - my friend, Kayla and I always go for food and rides. This was the first year that Stampede has been cancelled, but they have put on a drive-thru food truck situation so we went and picked Canadian Bear Balls - they are donut holes! We also got poutines, lobster rolls and a big ol' Octopus leg! Yum!

THREE

Also, this past weekend, Elliott's soccer started up again. He was so cute, he liked running around; but, only wanted to pick up "his" ball and run around with it. But, it also helped burn off a whole lot of energy!

FOUR

I just tried these Well vodka lemonades and they are delicious (better than White Claws if I do say so myself!) I tried all three kinds: Charcoal infused, Spirulina, and Hibiscus. I think they are only available in Alberta and Ontario; but, if you can find them, pick them up!

FIVE

Have you guy's watched the new Babysitter's Club show on Netflix? Oh man, was it ever adorable. Yes, I'm 33 and watching a show about Junior High aged girls and I loved it. I grew up on the babysitters club, so I needed to watch it. But, I also loved that they added topics for girls that age, such getting periods, new family relationships, transgender, etc. Adorable.

I hope you all have a great weekend! I am going out of town, so I've pre-written most of my posts and it will be a little quieter around here! I just want to enjoy some down time with the family and relax!
