I purchased this palette myself - this post contains affiliate links
While this is a neutral palette and my collection certainly didn't need another neutral palette, I really loved the shades they included in the palette and I thought they were different enough than the typical neutral palette that it would fit well in my collection (and I was right!)
Also, I love Too Faced's scented palettes and I know it's not for everyone, but it's such a fun little addition to my morning makeup routine! This one does smell so good too - it's supposed to smell like Hot Buttered Rum, but I get a sweet, spicy scent (which maybe it is a hot buttered rum and I just need to drink more of them!!!)
Too Faced Hot Buttered Rum Palette ~ $34.00 CAN. A limited-edition eyeshadow palette with eight exclusive matte and metallic shades.
Since this is a holiday release, it will be limited edition - it's a mix of 8 mattes and metallics that are rich, coppery, neutral shades. I think this is a really good mix of mattes and shimmers for me and it's perfect to get a full eye look with multiple variations. I love how compact it is and it the shadows are really pretty!
The packaging is identical to the Mini Peach, Mini Sugar Cookie and the Shake Your Palms palettes that they have released - I think the size is perfect and this is so great for travel or on-the-go looks. The only thing I think is a little strange is the layout of 6 shadows the same size and 2 on the left different sizes?! So weird to me!
I was very impressed with the shadows in this palette - I think the couple of minis I have are their best shadow quality! The mattes are really nice they apply so well and blend beautifully. They can be built up and wear well. The metallics are gorgeous and super impactful - I typically apply them to the lid with a finger, but I have applied them with a brush too and they look good. This is just overall a solid mini palette - I'm very pleased with the quality!
Whipped Cream ~ frosted pearl
Bottoms Up ~ matte latte
Born to Rum ~ metallic copper
Spiked ~ brown with gold sparkle
Vanilla Extra ~ matte warm cream
Warm & Fuzzy ~ metallic champagne
Sin-Ammon ~ matte auburn brown
Buttered Rum ~ matte butterscotch
I do prefer that if shadows are named, the names are included by the shades in the palette or to me it seems a little pointless. I do understand that maybe with the size of this palette, that wasn't a possibility, but it would have been a nice touch.
I did try and use the majority of the shadows in the palette for this look - I started with Vanilla Extra as a base shadow all over the lid and Bottoms Up as the transition colour. I built up the crease with Buttered Rum and deepend it with Sin-Ammon. The outer corner is Sin-Ammon and Spiked with Born to Rum on the middle of the lid and Warm and Fuzzy on the inner lid. Then I applied Whipped Cream to the inner corner and Bottoms Up on the lower lash line. I absolutely loved how all of these applied and I'm very pleased with the eye looks I get from this palette!
Here is a full look with the Hot Buttered Rum palette - dare I say it again that I looooove the looks I'm getting with this and the shades are fantastic! I think I've raved enough by this point!
I'm certainly on team Mini Too Faced palettes and I hope that they continue to release more of this style of palettes with high quality shadows! This is also a great little gift or stocking stuffer since it is holiday themed, and it's perfect for any level of makeup skill while being neutral and small enough to be approachable!
What do you think about this palette? Is it something you would use?
I picked this one up too. I haven't used it yet but can't wait. I'm so glad you like it.
ReplyDeleteIt's great quality! Hopefully you like it too!
DeleteI just found your blog and I really like it! I to become overwhelmed with two many choices on a palette and am a neutral lover. The only Two Faced palette I have is the Peach Matte palette, but this one if very interesting! Thank you for your review and I really enjoyed thoughts and advise.
ReplyDeleteThanks Kate - sorry, this one was limited edition, but there is lots of great neutral palettes out there!
