We have been posting weekly recaps with our masks, and it's a little sad that this is my last week of recaps! I love the idea of a luxe theme - I'm always in to trying "higher end" masks. You pay more so it should be amazing, right?! Let's find out!
AmorePacific Moisture Bound Intensive Serum Masque ~ $35.00 CAN for a package of 2 masks (or 6 masks for $120.00 CAN). A unique two-in-one ampoule and masque that provides the instant hydration, firmness, and radiance needed to create a photo-ready finish.
I have been intrigued by these AmorePacific masks - the brand is very highly reviewed and I indulged on these masks with a Christmas gift card! This mask is made with 100% bamboo sap and a 5-Hydra Complex (a special blend of asian botanicals) that is meant to moisturize and brighten!
So, because these masks are $17.50 each, I did decide to use both of them during Luxe week - I really wanted to see how they work for my skin! I love that they are 2 step mask and I love that the first step is a whole little vial of essence and then a mask to apply! It makes it seem a little more luxurious that ripping open a package!
This mask is a couple extra steps; but, not many! Start with washing your face and toning your skin. Then apply the full bottle of ampoule to the face and before the product absorbs, apply the mask to the face - it is a 2 piece mask as well, and you remove the film and then apply the gel side of the mask. Wear for 10 - 15 minutes, then remove mask.
You don't need to see two different pictures of me in this mask - it looked the same both times I wore it! But, this was a really good mask! If you are sensitive to scents you may not enjoy this mask, I will say that the initial ampoule is quite perfumey and strong, and the scent does linger as you wear the mask. The mask itself applies so lovely - it feels almost sticky and adheres so well to the face. It didn't adhere the tiniest amount right under my chin; but, the rest of the fit was really nice! They lasted over 20 minutes and did leave my skin feel super hydrated, plumped and brightened. Oh, I loved these expensive masks - I may indulge one day again as a treat to myself!
Tatcha Luminous Dewy Skin Mask ~ $15.00 CAN. A silky soft, skin-fitting sheet mask that delivers a healthy drink of ultra-hydrating botanical oils and extracts for a dewy glow in just one use.
I've always wanted to try more from the Tatcha Luminous Dewy Skin line, so a good way to try more was this mask! This mask comes with extra claims too: non-comedogenic, non-irritating, non-sensitizing, dermatologist tested, and cruelty-free. It is also formulated without mineral oil, synthetic fragrances, sulfate detergents, parabens, urea, DEA, TEA or phthalates. Also, I didn't realize that Tatcha is a brand that gives back to girl's education programs with every purchase - I love that!
This mask is straightforward to use - wash face, tone skin, apply mask, wear for 15 minutes, remove mask and massage remaining essence in to skin.
While this mask isn't a huge fit on me, I was a little disappointed with the overall fit - this mask didn't have any tabs to help fold over and adhere to the face better. So, folding around the mask just made it stick up in weird places. I just think for $15 a mask, it should pretty much fit like a glove! This did have a really creamy essence and my face looked very smooth the next day, so the results were really good!
SKII Facial Treatment Mask ~ $22.00 CAN (or 6 mask for $120.00 CAN). A cult-favorite sheet mask that immerses your skin in intense hydration.
I think this was my most expensive mask of the whole week; but, SKII is such a luxurious mask that I had to try this out! This mask boasts a ton of awards and it's big feature ingredient is pitura that is meant to keep your skin crystal clear. This isn't an ingredient that I'm familiar with to be honest!
This mask is easy to use - wash face, apply toner, then apply mask and wear for 10 - 15 minutes, remove mask and pat remaining essence in to the skin.
This mask is a decent fit - it had lots of tabs, so even though it appears a little big on me, it does wear nicely. It is a little thicker of a material than I normally prefer to wear; I generally like a nice, thin mask. This mask actually had a whole handful of extra essence in the package that I applied first. This wore for about 30 minutes, and my skin didn't feel incredibly hydrated after wearing this; it actually felt a little tight and I found the essence almost flaking off my skin after (maybe it was my fault for apply too much of it beforehand. But, my skin did look really amazing the next morning - very fresh and smooth!
Dr. Jart+ Bright Lover Rubber Mask ~ $15.00 CAN. A brightening two-step rubber mask that facilitates the delivery of actives while providing cooling benefits.
Dr. Jart is known for their fun and weird masks - I have tried another one of these Rubber Sheet masks (the Firm Lover - you can see it here), and I've tried a weird Rubber Shot mask that you shake up first before you apply. So, I had to include a weird and different "luxe" mask in this week.
This is a two-step mask, and start by washing and toning skin. Then apply the contents of the ampoule pack to the face, then apply the 2 piece mask, wear for up to 40 minutes, remove mask and massage remaining essence in to skin.
You can see that this has 2 tiny little holes that I managed to create while getting this out of the package - it is very delicate, so be careful when you remove this! This mask was fun to use - the ampoule you apply first is super rubbery and gel-y. Then the mask is a nice cooling gel texture that applies and wears well. This lasted 50 minutes on me and was nice and cooling to wear. Overall, I thought this was fine - my skin looked good after; but, I wasn't as glowing as this weird little baby face!
Shangpree Gold Premium Modeling Mask ~ pack of 5 masks for $98.00 US. Bring the luxury of a spa directly to your home by indulging in this hydrating, anti-aging mask. Rich gold and nourishing Asian botanicals are concentrated in this rubbery skin conditioning treatment to provide long-lasting moisture retention, remove impurities, and re-energize & revitalize skin.
This is a mix it yourself rubber mask that is meant to firm, brighten, and hydrate the skin. I received a pack of 2 years ago, and reviewed the other one on year (you can check out my original thoughts here; but, be warned it's 2015 Renee!)
This mask works out to be just under $20 a piece, so close to the top of my most expensive mask this week! This mask is 2 steps; but, instead of applying the steps one at time to the face, you mix them together to create the rubber mask and then you apply it to the face!
To use this mask, start by washing and toning your face. Then in a bowl, combine package one and two - a gel and a powder and stir them together. Then, apply the combination to the face and wear for 20 - 30 minutes. Then peel off the mask.
This mask is hilarious to wear - I also applied it over my lips as it can be very hydrating for them too. This mask is a cool gold colour and the texture is really neat (it does have a few chunks of root and leaf pieces). This dries on the skin; but, it doesn't harden or tighten on the face, so it's really comfortable to wear! This peeled off quite easily after the suggested time; but, it just left the tiniest little pieces around the edge of the face that were super hard to remove. But, my face did look brighter and was super soft after wearing this.
Dr. Jart Dermask Micro Jet Brightening Solution ~ $11.00 CAN. A microfiber sheet mask that instantly brightens dull and uneven skintone.
I received this mask in a subscription a while ago and it has been sitting in my collection waiting for the right time to be used! This is meant to brighten and reduce the appearance of dark spots. This mask is also free from 10 harmful ingredients such as artificial fragrance or color, denatured alcohol, triethanolamine, sulfate-based surfactants, triclosan, mineral oil, propylene glycol, and DEA that causes skin irritation.
This mask is nice and easy to apply after a few more complicated masks - wash face, tone skin, wear for 15 - 30 minutes, remove mask, and massage remaining essence in to the skin.
This mask fits really great on me! It just feels like it fits like a glove and adheres amazing to the skin! This comes with a creamy essence and was well soaked with essence! It wore well over 30 minutes on me and did make my skin look good after. It was hydrated and moisturized; but, I didn't see amazing brightening results - more just refreshed looking skin.
Have you guys tried any of these masks? I loved Luxe week and using the expensive and luxe masks!
Sounds like you had a great Luxe week! I'm definitely taking notes to spoil myself eventually since these are pricy!
ReplyDeleteSo many good masks in there - if you save for anything, I vote AmorePacific - so pricey, but very indulgent! Fun to splurge every once in a while!
DeleteI LOOOOOOVE the AmorePacific one! I love how it feels and how refreshing it is! The SK-II one I wish was better for the price. It's so hyped up as a brand and it felt like a really outdated product compared to everything else we have been trying.
DeleteYes, I thought the SK-II should have been better for the price! It was too thick for my liking; but, this was a fun week!
