September 2017 - Boxycharm Unboxing, Review, Swatches and Makeup Try-on!

Boxycharm is a beauty subscription box for $21.00 a month + $5.00 shipping to Canada (shipping is free to the U.S.) Boxycharm sends 4 to 5 full size and luxury size beauty items.

This subscription focuses heavily on make-up items - so that is something to keep in mind! While it is a little pricier than the more inexpensive beauty boxes, the majority of the products are full size, with a deluxe sample every once in a while.

Every subscriber generally receives the same products, but their is usually 1 or 2 items that have a few variations, so our boxes may not be identical!

Here is a look at my September Boxycharm:

September 2017 - Boxycharm Unboxing, Review, Swatches and Makeup Try-on!

This month's theme is "Boxy Baddie" and Boxycharm always includes a detailed product card explaining the items that were included in each month's subscription.

Here is a look at the products I received:
September 2017 - Boxycharm Unboxing, Review, Swatches and Makeup Try-on!

Pur Cosmetics - Soiree Diaries Eyeshadow Palette ~ $34.00 US. The pro secret is out! Creating a flawless eye look is super simple if you have the perfect mix of neutral, copper and bronze shades handy. Now you can turn everyday and night into a soiree with this super versatile 12-piece eye shadow collection. Filled with highly pigmented and silky smooth shadows, the four versatile matte shades, four satin shades and four shimmers work flawlessly together for all skin tones. Super blendable and anything but basic, this essential palette takes the guesswork out of your eye look. Just use the colors in the vertical rows from top to bottom for highlight, definition and drama.

Yes, another full sized eyeshadow palette in Boxycharm - there have been so many and I love it! I haven't tried too many Pur Cosmetics products; but this one seems really highly reviewed!

Here is the Pur Cosmetics Soiree Diaries swatched:
September 2017 - Boxycharm Unboxing, Review, Swatches and Makeup Try-on!

The shadows in this palette are really pretty! The mattes and satins are a little powdery and have some kick-up - I recommend tapping off the brush before applying the shadows! The shimmers are super creamy and apply amazingly! This is a really great palette!

September 2017 - Boxycharm Unboxing, Review, Swatches and Makeup Try-on!

Briogeo Don’t Despair, Repair! Deep Conditioning Mask ~ 2 oz. for $20.00 US (this is a deluxe size product). An intensive weekly treatment to restore essential hydration and enhance hair's resilience to protect against future damage.

This is a highly reviewed deep conditioning mask - I like Briogeo products for the most part so I am excited to try this. Only an 8 oz or 1 oz is available on Sephora so this is somewhere in between these sizes! I like the tube instead of the tub it usually comes in.

BareMinerals Face Perfecting Foundation Brush ~ $28.00 US. Featuring a truly unique design, the super convenient Perfecting Face Foundation Brush has an exclusive fluid reservoir that holds liquid foundation (as well as other skin-enhancing products) until you are ready to apply it.

So, this is a really interesting face brush - it is a flat top brush that has a little well to put liquid foundation in before you apply it. This was interesting - I actually liked it. I thought it applied the foundation fairly well! I have only used it a couple of times, but so far so good.

September 2017 - Boxycharm Unboxing, Review, Swatches and Makeup Try-on!

MAC Cosmetics Eye Brows in "Spiked" ~ $21.00 CAN. Self-propelling, self-sharpening, and brow-defining. This pencil will add everything you need: shape, colour and/or density in one streamlined tool. Like a pen, it creates its own just-right point for striking arches. It's also the perfect pencil to take on the go- no sharpener needed!

I am so excited to see MAC in subscription boxes now - they are really trying to keep up on the new trends. I have never tried this before and I really liked it! Spiked is described as a "rich brunette" and I thought it was a little dark for me right now but I dying my hair dark next week so it will be perfect!

ColourPop Ultra Satin Lip in "Littlestitious" ~ $6.00 US. High pigmentation and a satin-matte finish in liquid lipstick form to keep your lips soft and comfy all day long.

I love ColourPop lips and I like the Satin Lip formula - I had actually considered buying Littlestitious a while ago, but I think it might be a little too light for me. I will give it a try though! I'm always happy to see ColourPop in Boxycharm!

Studio Makeup Loose Blush ~ $35.00 US. This lightweight blush provides a vibrant pop of color for the most natural, healthy look.

This is really expensive for a blush and I don't think I have ever tried a loose blush before. I found it hard to control how much I applied and went in the first time pretty heavy handed! I'm not sure how I really feel about this - the colour is beautiful (a peachy pink), but I don't like applying it so I don't see myself reaching for this often. I might pass this on.

Here are all the products swatched:

I had to try everything out, so here is the look I created using as many products from the box as I could:
September 2017 - Boxycharm Unboxing, Review, Swatches and Makeup Try-on!

I used the Pur Cosmetics Soiree diaries palette on the eyes (Socialite, Stunner and Twinkle). Then, I applied my Sephora foundation using the BareMinerals Face Perfecting Foundation brush. I used the Mac Eye Brows, ColourPop in Littlestitious and the Studio Makeup blush.

The only thing I couldn't use from this month's box for this was the Deep Conditioning Mask.

Boxycharm came with 5 full sized items + 1 deluxe size item with a value of $144.00. This subscription came with a great variety of products - eyeshadow palette, brows, lipstick, blush, brushes and a hair product! Boxycharm always has a huge value and is well worth the subscription price to me! I am really happy with all the products this month, with the exception of the blush.

  1. Seems like a good mix of products for a subscription box - love the shades in the eye shadow palette. That would be my favourite thing, by far!
