For the last few years, I have had the Ciate Nail Polish Advent Calendar, but for 2015 I thought I would try something different! I really wanted to try the Body Shop Advent Calendar after seeing the different products you could get! I didn't peek, so everyday was a surprise!
The Advent Calendar cost $100 and comes with 24 (actually with a surprise 25) items - at the end, after my thoughts on whether or not I liked the products, I will determine if the cost of the goodies inside are worth the price tag!
I love the little boxes of the Calendar - it was so fun opening a new gift every day!
Day 1
Frosted Cranberry Shimmer Lotion ~ sample size 60ml for $3.12 (full size is 250ml for $13.00). Shine all season long with this yummy-smelling scented body lotion. This lightweight moisturiser gives skin a touch of sparkle whilst leaving it feeling and smelling like the softly-sweet frosted cranberry.
Oooh, this is a good way to start off the calendar! This lotion smells soo good! And Frosted Cranberry is a seasonal scent - I am excited to try this!
Day 2
Vitamin E Moisture Cream ~ travel size 15ml for $8.00. Everybody's favorite and our bestseller. An easily absorbed daily moisturising cream that has the lightness of a lotion with the moisturising benefits of a cream. It helps protect the skin, leaving it feeling soft, smooth and healthy-looking.
I have heard great things about this product, and it is a best seller from The Body Shop. I am always looking for good moisturizers, so I am happy to try this!
Day 3
Mini Shea Body Butter ~ travel size 50ml for $6.00. This super-rich and creamy Body Butter is a feast for the skin. It melts straight in to leave skin feeling soft and smooth. It contains Community Fair Trade shea butter and has a delicious nutty scent.
I really love the body butters from The Body Shop - the Shea one is so moisturizing! It is not my favorite scent but it is great for the skin.
Day 4
Eye Definer - "Black" ~ full size $12.00. Emphasize your eyes with a long-lasting, blendable eye liner that is soft yet firm enough to be smudge-resistant.
I am pretty sure this is a full sized eyeliner. This is a good product, but I am a little eyeliner-ed out at this time, so I will be passing this on.
Day 5
Fuji Green Tea Body Wash ~ sample size 60ml for $2.16 (full size is 250ml for $9.00). Cleanse and purify skin, while detoxing body and soul, with the crisp and refreshing scent of Fuji Green Tea™ Body Wash.
This body wash smells pretty good - it looks like the Fuji Green Tea line is a newer line/scent for The Body Shop. Body washes are not the most exciting items to receive, but I will use this.
Day 6
Bath Lily ~ $4.00. Increase the lather of your favorite shower gel with a lovely bath lily that gently exfoliates to remove dead skin cells.
This is a little loofah (or bath lily, which I have never heard it called before), so I'm not sure if this is actually worth the whole $4. This is an okay product, nothing crazy but it will get used.
Day 7
Vitamin E Hydrating Toner ~ sample size 60ml for $3.90 (full size is 200ml for $13.00). A hydrating toner that removes traces of cleanser, dirt and make-up without drying the skin, leaving it feeling soft, supple and refreshed. It leaves a velvety feel on the skin.
This is an alcohol free toner, and the Vitamin E line is well reviewed. I have a pretty awesome toner on the go now but I am always happy to try new products so I will happily use this product.
Day 8
Eyelash Curlers ~ approximately $5. Dramatic lashes in the blink of an eye.
I can't find this on the website, so I am just guessing at the value of this item. There is one makeup tool I will not use at all and that is an eyelash curler. I will be passing this on.
Day 9
Elderflower Unperfumed Eye Gel ~ full size 15ml for $12.00. Fragrance free, wide-awake refreshment to soothe, cool, and refresh those delicate peepers. With gentle elderflower extract and witch hazel.
I like that this is a full sized item and this will last for quite a while. I like eye gels so I am looking forward to trying this.
Day 10
Frosted Cranberry Soap ~ sample size 25g for $1.00 (full size is 100g for $4.00).
This is a small soap, but I really like the Frosted Cranberry scent - this isn't the most exciting product, but it will be used.
Day 11
Mini Shea Shower Cream ~ travel size 60 ml for $6.00. Spoil your skin with a moisturizing, soap-free cleanser full of rich, creamy, skin-softening lather and a classic, clean scent.
The Shea scent is not my favorite from The Body Shop, but the products are very moisturizing. I like shower creams and so I will use this.
Day 12
Mini Almond Hand & Nail Cream ~ travel size 30ml for $10.00. This effective daily hand cream cares for nails as well as hands and contains two manicurist’s essentials: sweet almond oil and panthenol. Moisturizing Conditions nails Sweet almond scent.
I just received this product in a swap, so I will be passing it on. I like the packaging, and these lotions are very moisturizing for the hands.
Day 13
Strawberry Lip Butter ~ full size 10ml for $6.00. This buttery balm melts onto the lips for instant hydration. It contains sweet strawberry seed oil.
Mmm.. this smells really good. I go through lip balms fairly quickly so this will get used soon. Potted lip balms are not my favorite as I always get products stuck in my nails!
Day 14
Shea Soap ~ sample size 25g for $1.00 (full size is 100g for $4.00). Cleanse and moisturize your skin in one step with a vegetable-based soap that has a fresh, creamy scent everyone will enjoy.
This is the third product from the Shea line, so I will redundantly repeat that is not my favorite scent. The little heart shape is cute, and soap is always handy so this will be used.
Day 15
Frosted Plum Shimmer Lotion ~ sample size 60ml for approx. $3.12 (same as Frosted Cranberry).
I can't find this particular product online, so it made be sold out as it is a seasonal product, so I picked the same price as the Cranberry lotion. This scent is nice, but I think I like the Frosted Cranberry a little better. This lotion will happily be used.
Day 16
Vitamin E Nourishing Night Cream ~ sample size 15ml for $6.30 (full size is 50ml for $21.00). This rich night cream with wheat germ oil replenishes moisture levels while you sleep.
This is another product from the highly reviewed Vitamin E line - if you are a regular reader then you will know I love my night creams. This will happily be used up!
Day 17
Wild Argan Oil Shower Gel ~ sample size 60ml for $2.16 (full size is 250ml for $9.00). Lather up with richly foaming, non-drying cleansing for your shower, enriched with Community Fair Trade argan oil from Morocco.
After this calendar I will certainly be stocked up on my shower gels. This is a decent scent and argan oil is good for the skin so I am sure this will be good.
Day 18
Eyeshadow Brush ~ full size $16.00. An elegant, high-quality make-up brush that provides even application of The Body Shop make-up eye powder and cream eye colors.
Oooh a full size makeup brush is always good to get! I don't think I can really have too many brushes so I will happily use this!
Day 19
Fuji Green Tea Body Lotion ~ sample size 60ml for $3.36 (full size is 250ml for $14). Hydrate your skin, while detoxing body and soul, with the crisp and refreshing scent of lightweight Fuji Green Tea™ Body Lotion.
This lotion smells good - I like the Fuji Green Tea line. This will get used soon!
Day 20
Honeymania Lip Butter ~ full size 10ml for $6.00. This luxuriously sweet lip butter contains Community Fair Trade honey made from the nectar of wildflowers. It has a sweet, floral scent and leaves lips feeling kissably soft.
Another full sized lip butter is awesome - again, the pots are not my favorite for lip balm but I will use this!
Day 21
Frosted Plum Soap ~ sample size 25g for $1.00 (full size is 100g for $4.00).
I could not find this product online, so it must be sold out. Again, Frosted Plum is a seasonal scent so this is good to get!
Day 22
Strawberry Hand Cream ~ travel size 30ml for $10.00. This sweet Strawberry daily hand cream helps soften and protect hands with light, juicy moisture. The instantly absorbing formula is ideal for on-the-go hydration.
This is a good sized hand lotion - and these are very moisturizing. The strawberry scent smells so good and I will use this right away!
Day 23
Nail file ~ $1.00.
The price of this file is a guess as it could not be found on the website. This feels like a filler product and nothing really exciting. It will get used.
Day 24
Italian Summer Fig Eau De Toilette ~ sample size 10 ml for $5.60 (full size is 50ml for $28.00). Scent your skin with the fresh, fruity fragrance of Italian Summer Fig. Our figs are emblematic of the Puglian coast in Italy – we hand-selected them there, where the sun-baked soils produce them in abundance and with a juicy scent that fills the warm air in summer. We pick them at the height of summer when their aroma is the richest, and create our succulent green scent.
I was really excited to see a perfume in here, but this is quite stinky - not my favorite scent at all! I will be passing this on!
Day 25
Colour Crush Nail Polish - "Relish The Moment" ~ $6.00. Do you want instant happiness at your fingertips? Meet the NEW Colour Crush™ Nails range. With a rainbow of 24 uplifting, colourful shades inspired by nature, this range feels as good for your soul as it does on your nails.
Day 25 was a surprise for this calendar - the box came inside of box 24 so you didn't know until the last day that there was one more surprise! This is a bright red polish - I may pass this on as I do have a ton of nail polishes right now!
Altogether, the Body Shop Advent Calendar had 25 items and a total value of $140.72. These was a good variety of items from lotions and body washes to skin care and makeup tools. There are only a few items from the whole calendar I will not use, so I am happy about that!
For $100, I'm not overly thrilled with the value - I think I bought mine too early and should have waited until it went on sale! Then it would have had a better value to me!
