December 2015 - Month in Masks and Mask Empties

As most of you know by now, my Skincare Routine is very important to me and masking is a huge part of that routine (and it is probably my favorite part - for the skincare benefits and running around my house scaring everyone with my masks!)

This post is a review of all the masks I use each month - I also consider the Month of Masks my Mask Empties post, because I do not feature my sheet masks in my monthly empties post! You can check out my past Month of Masks here

I didn't do so great in November for masking, so my goal for December was to try and mask every day - I didn't quite get everyday but I got pretty close which I am happy with! Here is a look at what masks I used this month!

December 1
Too Cool For School Egg Cream Sheet Mask ~ $8.00. A milky, serum-enriched microfiber sheet mask infused with egg white and egg yolk extract to instantly hydrate for a bright and radiant complexion.

I think this was a Sephora add on at some point in time and I was excited to try this as I have been waiting to try Too Cool For School products! The material of this mask is quite thick and this mask was really soaked in essence so it lasted quite a while. I liked the way my skin felt after, but at $8 a piece, I think I will only try these once in a while!

December 2
Hanaka Botanic Treatment Reviving Mask (Marigold + Vitamin A) ~ $2.18 ($10.90 for 5 masks). Neutralize shine and purify sebum bring refreshed skintone.

I love Hanaka masks and the material of these masks is sooo good! This mask came with a whole handful of extra essence and I applied it before the mask - I was able to wear this for about 40 minutes! I will happily use Hanaka mask again!

December 3
Avene Eau Thermale Soothing Moisture Mask ~ sample (full size is $27.91). Normal to sensitive skin. Tired, dull, lack luster skin Reactive skin (Redness, tightness, sunburn). Benefits: Rich, creamy, non-setting mask soothes over stressed skin. Replenishes moisture to dehydrated skin and helps restore skin's barrier. Deeply penetrates skin to restore suppleness as it minimizes redness. Pleasant fragrance tolerated by sensitive skin. Preservative-free. Avène Thermal Spring Water to soothe and soften skin. Hypoallergenic and non-comedogenic.

This came in a past Ipsy bag - I didn't actually receive it but I bought it in a swap so I could try it! This mask is applied in a layer and the excess is wiped off after 15 minutes. I didn't quite know how much to apply so there wasn't much extra to wipe off after 15 minutes!

December 4
Nuxe Masque Crème Fraîche de Beauté ~ $29. A source of well-being and immediate freshness, this moisturizing mask with Plant Milks and White Blossom provides intensive moisturization even for the driest of skins. A rescue skincare, it provides intensive relief, instantly soothing skin discomfort. Hydrates and soothes for 24 hours, leaving skin radiant.

I have reviewed this in a past Glossybox and have featured it in a past Wine and Mask Wednesday here - I have also had it on a few Month in Mask posts. This is a lotion style wipe off mask. You apply it in a thick layer, leave it on for 15 minutes and wipe off the excess. I love this mask - it leaves my skin super soft and is great for the dry, cold winter months!

December 5
Shangpree Gold Premium Modeling Mask ~ 1 mask for $10 (set of 5 for $98). Get ready for the newest trend in Korean Beauty: Modeling "Rubber" Masks. Bring the luxury of a spa directly to your home by indulging in this hydrating, anti-aging mask. Rich gold and nourishing Asian botanicals are concentrated in this rubbery skin conditioning treatment to provide long-lasting moisture retention, remove impurities, and re-energize & revitalize skin. Each session will leave you with the appearance of firmer, hydrated, and more youthful looking skin.

I received this mask in a Peach and Lily Seoulcialite Box and I posted a full review about this mask here! This mask you mix the 2 packages together in a bowl and then apply to the skin. The packages are very full so I managed to get 2 uses out of these packages, so I stretched out the cost because this is expensive! I loved how this made my skin feel - super soft!!! I really liked this mask!

December 6
SNP Animal Panda Whitening Mask ~ $2.50 (10 masks for $25). Coconut water and whitening energy ampoule helps whiten skin and brighten and clarify skin tone. Immediate hydration and improved synergy effect. Skin moisture increase.

Well we all know how much I love my animal sheet masks - they are just so cute! This one was adorable and made me look like I had a moustache! The mask came with a decent amount of essence and it lasted for about 20 minutes. It didn't have any magical results after using, but it did make my skin look good. I probably wouldn't go out of my way to spend $2.50 on this, but I would use it again if I found it for cheaper!

December 9
Scinic Black Dual Mask (Aqua White) ~ $3.58 ($17.90 for 5). Two-part sheet masks are specially designed to address the specific needs of the T- and V-zones. T-zone mask regulates and balances oil secretion, refining pores and texture with regular use, while the U-zone mask moisturizes dry patches and firms up facial contours. Active ingredients of black sesame, black rice and black beans drench skin in amino-enriched proteins to promote skin health. Recommended for all skin types.

I received this in a Mask Genie pouch and really love the idea of the 2 different parts of the mask targeting different skincare needs! The mask is applied in 2 different pieces and had a lot of essence and the bottom piece included a neck piece as well. The essence lasted for at least 30 minutes and could have lasted for longer! I wish these weren't $4 a piece because I really liked these, so I will repurchase but use sparingly!

December 10
Cranberry Festive Face Mask ~ $8.95. A festive face mask inspired by traditional Christmas ingredients to deep cleanse, soften and nourish skin. When you're exposed to dry winter air outdoors and heating indoors, skin can feel parched and look a little dull. Indulge in a healthy dose of antioxidant cranberries and cleansing fennel seed infusion to brighten, while argan oil and rose clay leave skin looking matte and feeling luxuriously soft.

Mmmm... this Cranberry Lush mask smells so good! This is a seasonal fresh mask, so I'm not sure how long it will be available for. I featured this mask on a Skincare Sunday post - you can see my whole review here. This mask suggests it can be worn for 10-15 minutes, I find it dries after about 10 and my skin starts to get itchy if I don't wash it off right away. The Lush masks are all a little messy to remove but overall, I liked this!

December 12
THEFACESHOP Real Nature Rice Mask ~ $2. The Rice Real Nature Face Mask offers you a dazzling, even complexion. Known for its brightening properties, rice extract helps reduce the appearance of age spots and illuminates the skin.

I feature this mask every month on this Month of Masks review - I always use it. It is my go-to inexpensive sheet mask. This mask truly delivers on the brightening promise and my skin just loves this mask! It always looks brighter and cleaner after using!

December 16
Esfolio Pearl Essence Mask Sheet ~ $2.52 (5 for $12.60). Pearl extract will make your skin glows and keep it moisturized. Vitamins included in quince extract and ingredients included in pearl powder can get your skin clean and clear.

I don't often run in to a mask that I absolutely hate (I can usually just use them and then never bother again), but this one was so bad! The material was very thick and there was practically no essence on the mask. It barely stuck to my face when it was just out of the package, let alone last the 20 minutes suggested. This pretty much fell off after 5 minutes and was quickly thrown in the garbage, never to be bought again! If you would like to see any further of a review - this was featured on a Wine and Mask Wednesday post here

December 20
Skyn Iceland Hydro Cool Firming Eye Gels ~ 1 set for $2.75 (full size is 8 sets for $30). When you're run down and stressed out, the delicate skin under your eyes really takes a beating, resulting in puffiness, dark circles and premature wrinkling. In just ten minutes, this cooling transdermal gel patch infuses the eye area with highly potent actives and Icelandic glacial water to firm, tone, brighten and reduce the appearance of puffiness and wrinkles. Eyes are revived, soothed and rejuvenated.

I have used these in the past from Ipsy points, but I just got some again in one of my Christmas swaps! I love that these masks are very adhesive and are secured under the eye - some types move around too much making them hard to wear! These aren't the greatest eye masks I have used, and I didn't see a ton of results. I will use them again as they are soothing, but will not repurchase.

December 20
Yadah Vitalizing Mask Pack ~ $3.50. Try these 100% cotton sheet masks that are free of artificial colorants, parabens, ethanol, and fragrances. Great for all skin types and designed for sensitive skin.

I received this in a past Mishibox and was really happy with it! I thought the fit was great and this mask had lots of essence - I was able to wear it for over 30 minutes! I thought my skin felt and looked great after using it and I will repurchase!

December 21
Paraffin Nutrition Nail Pack ~ $2. Ideal before a manicure, this paraffin pack nourishes your nails deeply. Fragile and brittle nails are moisturized and strengthened!

I used this for a Manicure Monday post (check it out here!) and I love nail/hand masks! These are great when around your nails is looking dry and cracked (which happens so much here in the winter) - there were very moisturizing and really improved the skin around my nails! I will buy these again!

December 23
THEFACESHOP Character Mask - Rudolph ~ $4.50 US. Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer is not the only one with a ruddy windburn on his face! Give your skin a break with this soothing mask. The character face mask formulated with Gotu Kola (known as Tiger's soothing herb in Korea) moisturizes and soothes sensitized skin.

Is this not the cutest mask you have ever seen?! Omg, I'm just so in love with it - it was perfect for my Christmas themed Wine and Mask Wednesday!!! Not only was it adorable, but it fit my face great, had a good amount of essence, and was very moisturizing for my skin! I would get this again next Christmas for sure!!

December 27
Altchek MD Depuff Eye Pads ~ $2 for 1 set ($20 for 10 sets). Eye Gel Pads help reduce the appearance of fine lines and puffiness while hydrating the sensitive and fragile skin under the eyes. It is a perfect treatment before a night out.

These eye masks were really good (I just got them in a Christmas gift). They were similar to the Klorane ones as they weren't gel and adhered really well to the face! I actually really liked them and was able to wear them for over half an hour which was awesome in a bubble bath!!

December 27
The History of Whoo UI: Gold Peel Off Mask ~ individual size approx 2ml for $1.38 (full size is 80 ml for $55) The Peel off mask to exfoliate dead skin cell and the gold flakes will make the skin glowing and shining.

I received this in a past Mask Genie pouch and was excited to use it - peel off masks are so fun. They go on clear and dry - once they dry you pick a spot and start to peel it off! I love all the gold masks coming out so I was excited to use this. While this did make my skin look good, I actually found it slightly drying on my already dry skin. It felt a little itchy and tight after, which I prefer my skin to feel soft and moisturized. For that reason, I would not repurchase this.

December 28
Beauty Clinic Mediheal Dress Code Blue Mask ~ $3.00. With this Mediheal Mask Dress Code, Experience a beauty beyond compare during intensive skin care and complete all skin care steps with mask dress's dignity. Uses a highly concentrated formulation of natural materials, helps your unbalanced skin become healthier by making it resistant to stress and restoring skin balance.

I was so excited when I saw these masks at Winners - I love Mediheal masks! This came with a great amount of essence and was wearable for a long time. It made my skin very moisturized and it felt amazing after using this mask - plus this is adorable! Love!

December 30
Evercos Herbal Mask "Licorice" ~ 10,500 Won for 5 ($8.93 USD for 5) = $1.79 USD per mask. For keeping your skin bright and moist forever.

I have read so many great things about Evercos masks, but they are quite hard to find! When I saw them up on TesterKorea I knew I had to try them! The material was so soft and stretched to fit my face almost perfectly! There was a lot of essence and this lasted well over half an hour which is always great! Made my skin feel awesome and I will happily use these again!!

I am happy with the number of masks I used in December - 18! Again, I had hoped to use one every day but we all get busy! For the most part I loved the masks I used, although probably for the first time ever I ran in to one I hate (I guess it's bound to happen eventually!)

I hope you guys are making masking part of your skincare regime - it's fun and has great benefits! Any masks you recommend I try in January?
