June 2014 Beauty Box 5 - Review and Unboxing

Beauty Box 5 is a monthly subscription box that costs $12 a month US, $30 quarterly, and $99 a year - free shipping on all boxes. I signed up for Beauty Box 5 when they had a promotion for $12 off a year - so I got a full year for $87. This worked out to $97.60 Canadian with the exchange rate so $8.14 a month!

I had read the reviews prior and know that Beauty Box 5 generally has smaller sample sizes and their boxes have a much lower value than some; however, there are some boxes that are total gems! So for $8 a month it is worth it!

Here is the first look at my June 2014 Beauty Box 5:

The theme of June's Box is less effort, more cool focusing on iconic and hot weather basics. The box includes a product card to explain what you get in each box.

Here is a look at this month's products:
Nicka K New York Nail Color #139 in Ripe Apple ~ $4.99 full size product. The brush looks like and I tested the product on the card and it looks like it covers well and is nice and bright!

Alright, so I usually do like to review the products before I blog about them - I am not going through the hassle of opening these packets until I am ready to use the products!!

Organix Coconut Water Shampoo & Conditioner ~ $7.99 full size together 13oz. - these samples together are 0.5oz making this worth $0.30. This product is said to be very hydrating and sulphate-free. I have used Organix shampoo in the past (not this particular type) and never had any complaints - this will be good for a quick weekend getaway somewhere.

Eslor Introductory Collection Calming Kit ~ $45 for 4 products 60ml combined - sample size 4 products at 20ml for $15. I had a hard time believing a foil pack set could be worth $15 (good thing when I started getting these boxes I read some advice to go buy cheap pill containers to make using foil packets easier!) This sample includes 5ml of each Soothing Refiner & Cleanser, Replenishing Scrub, Comforting Mask, and Soothing Cream). Said to include their best products - the brand seems a little hard to find reviews on; however, those who have reviewed on their website seem to give it 5 stars so it will be worth a shot to try!

Vita Bath Body Wash in Wild Red Cherry ~ $7.95 for 12 oz full size ~ sample size $1.32 for 2 oz. Sulphate & Paraben free - this scent reminds me of cherry cough syrup I used to have as a kid - that's a good thing, i like the scent! I think I will be using this as bubble bath!

Glam Natural Mascara in Black ~ Full size 0.25 oz for $28 - sample size ??? no idea, so i will just value you this at $2 (it is quite small). This product is said to be designed for sensitive eyes and is paraben free and vegan. I really wanted to like this product; however, the mascara itself is so liquidy - it took forever to dry and the little brush they have in it is awful!

So I paid $8.14 and got $23.61 in products, I full sized & 4 samples. Only 1 I will not use at all - i think the value is a little hard to tell because of the foil packets but it is worth a little more than I initially thought.

What do you think of Beauty Box 5?

  1. This mascara is the one I meant. Not nice at all. The other is so much better!
