Viseart Golden Hour Eyeshadow Palette - 3 Looks, Swatches, and Review

I was so excited when the Viseart Golden Hour palette showed up in my Beautylish Lucky Bag in January - I may have done a little happy dance!

I have bought myself two Viseart Petite Pro mini palettes (and actually just ordered another!) as a way to try the brand because their palettes can be on the pricier side; but, I really do love their shadows and haven't indulged in a full size palette yet! I was very excited to receive the Golden Hour palette - the shadows are beautiful!

The Golden Hour palette is inspired by Paris at the "golden hour" or sunset, so that's where the warm coppers and twilight blue shadows come from. I love a palette with a story and think this is a beautiful inspiration for a palette. I love that the packaging is sleek and really sturdy as well. It has a full mirror in it as well.

Viseart Golden Hour Eyeshadow Palette ~ $72.00 CAN/$49.00 USViseart's proprietary creamy, long-lasting eye shadow formula is featured in an essential nine-pan palette with a full-size vanity mirror. Inspired by the unique twighlight colors and hues of Paris during the "Golden Hour," each easy-to-blend shade can be combined to create infinite looks.

This is a beautiful palette and I really like a 9 pan shadow palette (even though I actually don't have many) - seems like a really perfect amount of shadows! These are all unique and complimentary of each other. The shadow formula is really nice - the shimmers/metallics preform beautifully and the mattes were really blendable and smooth. The quality is amazing - these shadows don't fade and they don't muddy together on the eyes. I only applied primer once with these and they last all day and look great with or without primer.

The only thing that's frustrating with the packaging is the plastic overlay with the shadow names on it - it does have a tab so it tucks securely in the side of the palette and doesn't fly out every time you open it. But, there is no where else the shadow names are listed (not on the back of the palette or under the shadows, and that would have been preferable to me.

I think this palette is beautiful - there is enough of a mix of neutrals and colour and a good range of light, medium, and dark shadows. I think that may be one of my biggest complaints about palettes is I need a range of tones when I'm doing a look! There is only 3 true mattes in the palette and I think they could have made either the deep blue black or deep purple brown a matte as well; but, the deep blue black is more of a satin than a shimmer finish, so there is a decent mix.

Honoree ~ soft peachy beige with a matte finish
Rivoli ~ soft warm gold with a shimmer finish
Montaigne ~ warm muted brown with a matte finish
Seine ~ light warm copper with a shimmer finish
Palais ~ deep orange copper with a shimmer finish
Louvre ~ deep neutral red with a matte finish
Carrousel ~ plummy brown with a shimmer finish
Royal ~ smoky grey-blue with a shimmer finish
Tuileries ~ medium black with a shimmer finish

You can see that the shimmers swatch beautifully with fingers and they are very pigmented. I never really worry if mattes don't swatch well; because, it usually just means they are a little less pigmented and easier to blend out when applying to the eyes.

This is a pretty go-to basic shadow look using this palette - I applied Honoree all over the lid, blended out Montaigne lightly through the crease, applied Seine all over the lid. Then I lightly added a tiny bit of Carrousel to the outer corner.

This look might not be enough for some people; but, I love a palette with a good range that I can create easy day looks and bolder looks with it. I love Seine as a lid shadow - it's so gorgeous!

I've paired this look with the Note Cosmetics Luminous Silk Compact Blusher in Desert Rose, the ColourPop Disney Designer Ariel Lipstick, the Covergirl Exhibitionist Mascara, and the Illamasqua Beyond Powder Highlighter in Deity

This look, I really wanted to feature the deeper shadows in this palette and I love how it turned out! I started with Honoree all over the lid as a base shadow, then applied Montaigne through the crease as a transition shade and took it higher up on the lid. I applied Royal all over the lid, using my finger for full impact. I then deepened the outer corner and smoked the crease a little using Tuileries. I buffed out the outer edge of the look with Louvre, and the inner corner I applied Rivoli and tapped it in the inner lid as well to mix with the blue. The lower lash line is a mix of Louvre and Montaigne.

In hindsight, this look could have benefitted from a thicker liner; but, I do really love the look overall - I actually especially love the mix of blue and gold shadows on the inner corner and will create that shadow mixture again!

I paired this look with the Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Liquified Lipstick in Whip, and the Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush in Paaarty

I have to apologize for the sub-par lighting of this look; but, I still really wanted to talk about it because it's actually my favorite look of all. Sadly, I was rushing around and just could not get the pictures to work for me. Anyways, I started with Honoree all over the lid as a base shadow, then applied Montaigne through the crease as a transition shade. Then I deepened the outer corner with Louvre. Then for the lid, I applied Palais to the outer lid, Seine to the middle lid and Rivoli to the inner lid and inner corner.

This was perhaps my favorite look with this palette and I really loved how this looked turned out over all - the red, orange, and bronze are gorgeous! I will have to re-create this during the day soon.

I paired this look with the Pixi Beauty Matte Last Liquid Lipstick in Really RoseShiseido Luminizing Satin Face Color in "RD103 Petal", and Becca x Jaclyn Hill Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed Highlighter in Champagne Pop

Overall, I'm loving this palette - it should come as no surprise as it appeared in my February 2019 Monthly Favorites. The shadows all apply beautifully. The mattes are pigmented; but, not overly pigmented where they don't blend well and the shimmers are really nice - they are creamy and apply best with fingers or a wet brush. They are just lovely - while it is a bit of a splurge, these Viseart palettes are great quality!

Have you tried Viseart shadows? What is your favorite?

  1. I hate when brands do that with the names of the product. I have a few palettes like that where I have to keep the overlay just to remember the names. Small issue, but annoying all the same! That Royal shade is especially beautiful. :)

    1. Right!? This isn't a cheap palette - they could have totally printed the names, or at least included them on the back! Beautiful palette though!
