I've made it pretty clear here that I'm a big Lushie, so naturally I was very excited last year when Lush Kitchen announced that they were starting a subscription box, of course I ordered it right away and the first box was in May! It is a little pricey with the conversion to Canada; but, I've only been getting it every couple of months, so I consider it a fun subscription box splurge!
I purchased this book on my own
The Lush Kitchen Subscription box is a monthly subscription box full of exclusive Lush Labs goodies made exclusively for the box - every month subscribers vote on the monthly menu of products that they would or would not like to see in the box, so you can help pick what is included in the box! Also, all of the products included in each box will be vegan.
Each month the Lush Kitchen Subscription box is £35 per month + shipping (shipping to Canada is £17.95), so all together the cost of the subscription box in Canada is £52.95 a month, which converted to $94.67 CAN this month). The subscription will come with 4-5 exclusive products and I think it will include a variety of products that Lush makes; but, will of course be mostly bath and body products.
Each month you pay and vote for products that are coming in the following month's box - so for this May box, you have until April 5 to vote on the products you'd like to see and then payment comes out on the 6th of the previous month. Then, Lush spends the month making the products and ships it out at the end of April so you receive it in May! Also, just because you vote for a product does not guarantee that you will receive the item - they will make the most popular products as well as through in a few that weren't voted on! The box is a complete surprise until you receive it!
You do have the option to skip months, which I love in a subscription and I have skipped and will continue to skip here and there since this subscription box is quite expensive with shipping to Canada, so I will likely keep it as a little treat every couple of months!
The box arrived filled with Lush's usual cornstarch peanuts to help the environment as well as a product card and an ingredient card. And, because this is the 1 year anniversary box, they included this Lush Kitchen Tote (around $14 CAN). Here is a look at the products in the May 2021 (Vol. 12) box:
Lush Aqua Mirabilis ~ A cocoa and almond butter mixture of perfect consistency to moisturize your skin without leaving it feeling greasy.
This is a past well loved product that was discontinued, and it's one on the body scrub/body butters that you use in the shower (similar to a scrubee, that I love!) and this one is very almondy-peanut butter smelling and it smells delicious! (Price point, this was $10.95 CAN).
Lush Avoshower Shower Gel ~ Zing, zing, zing! Fresh lemongrass, uplifting bergamot and rich avocado oils are here to invigorate your showers.
This was an item everyone was very excited to see in the anniversary box - it's a very popular past product (and it shares it's scent with the Avobath Bath Bomb). It does smell bright and yummy, but a little earthy to me too. (Price point reference, it is around $23.00 CAN for this size!)
Lush Yuzu and Cocoa Bubbleroon ~ A chocolate orange-scented bubble bar, created to leave your skin feeling soft and moisturized, whilst comforting tired and weary bodies.
Ooooh - I scent I know! I used to have a Yuzu and Cocoa shower cream and I loved it - it's not a super strong chocolate scent, more subtle and fresh and this bubbleroon smells amazing! So warm and slightly sweet. I love the bubblebar formula from Lush, and I know this will last 3 - 4 baths, easy. (Price point, bubbleroons are around $11.00 CAN).
Lush Diamond Dust Bath Bomb ~ Run to your bath and drop in for an explosion of essential oils and dazzling shimmer.
This was a staff picks or competition for a new bath bomb and the little video says that it was inspired by a low forming cloud type that looks like diamonds. It's pretty pink and sparkly! (Price point, this size bath bomb would be around $8.00 CAN).
Lush Roller Bath Bomb ~ Run the bath just right, climb in and drop your bath bomb into the warm water. Watch it turn over and over as it travels around your bath, leaving lilac waters and indulgent essential oils in it's wake.
This is a bath bomb that also has a layer of bath oil over top, so it will do both in the bath! It does smell nice and relaxing and I think this is a fun idea! (Price point, this would be around $8.00 CAN).
As a Canadian the shipping cost really adds to the total cost making this just under $100 per month for me. I paid $94.67 for this box, which works out to about $15.77 per product, with the 6 products in this month's box. This came with about $75 worth of products.
I will be honest, this isn't a box that you would pick up for a huge value, this is mainly about getting exclusive and retro Lush products! If you are a Lushie, you will likely love this box for the nostalgia and exclusive scents! What do you think about this subscription?
