All products were purchased by me
This collection includes an eyeshadow palette, three lipsticks, a blush palette, a translucent powder, a cream rouge and a vanity mirror. As much as I wanted to go crazy and try everything, I only picked up the Briar Rose Blush Palette, Auroras Translucent Powder, and Sleeping Beauty Pink lipstick.
So, this Besame collection was not just inspired by Sleeping Beauty, Besame spent years working through the Disney archives and paint and ink department to perfectly match the colours and art of the 1959 film, for the authentic colours of the movie! I love this effort so much and I think it really shows in all of their products - I was just so impressed with the packaging and shades included. I really love this collection! Also, all Besame products are cruelty free and made in the USA.
Besame Briar Rose Blush Palette ~ $47.00 US. Based on the true shades used in Sleeping Beauty from Disney's ink and paint department, Besame has created this unique and collectible blush palette. The two shades of blush correlate with the exact shades of blush worn by Aurora and Maleficent, and they are each accompanied by highlight shades to match. Get Aurora's princess-like glow using the two lighter shades of blush and highlight, or get Maleficent's dramatic elegance with the two darker shades of blush and highlight color.
This was the product in the collection I was most excited for, and that's saying a lot as I don't often get excited about blush. But, this truly looked so stunning! The packaging is a really solid case and I love the gold accents. The background of the picture is actually a still from the movie - that was originally hand drawn and it's gorgeous with a gold silhouette of Princess Aurora!
The blushes come in Besame's signature formula that is highly pigmented, with long-lasting staying power! The deeper blush shade is the shade that Maleficent wore and the lighter shade is what Princess Aurora wore in the original movie. Each blush comes with a matching highlighter that includes subtle shimmer and are safe for eye area as well.
This palette doesn't include shade names, so the products swatched top to bottom are Maleficent highlighter, Maleficent blush, Sleeping Beauty blush, and Sleeping Beauty highlighter. These are all super pigmented and gorgeous!
I found the blushes a little powdery in application, but nothing that bothered me. I loved the Sleeping Beauty blush and highlighter - I find them very complimentary to my skin tone and I could easily wear them all the time! And, the Maleficent blush was very pigmented - almost a little too pigmented for me, because it was a little dark for my skin tone. I will just have to apply this very lightly! The Maleficent highlighter was really pretty, pigmented and looked gorgeous!
Besame Aurora's Translucent Powder ~ $25.00 US. Princess Aurora was given the gift of beauty, and everyone (especially Prince Philip) took notice of her enchanting appearance. Inspired by her legendary beauty, enjoy this lightweight, translucent pressed face powder to set your makeup flawlessly for magical days, and nights... as if you had the help of some magical fairies!
I was very intrigued by this translucent powder - it's pink! The packaging of this powder is a recyclable foiled-paper square. I was a little surprised by this packaging as it felt less luxe than packaging on the blush palette, but I do like that it's recyclable! Also, the artwork on this packaging is rare - it's from an original 1959 colouring book. I loved that Besame searched through everything when creating this collection!
The coolest thing about this translucent powder is that it's PINK! Besame notes that although this appears pink, once it's buffed or pressed on the face it gives a sheer, matte coverage while leaving a warm glow to any skin tone! This powder is supposed to leave your face looking freshly applied, it also helps correct any tiny complexion imperfections with the formula!
So, this powder does start off quite light pink on the skin - I find that when I apply it with the poof provide or right under the eye, it looks pink for a little while. It does buff to translucent. I love applying the both with a damp beauty sponge and a light dusting with a big brush over the face! It's a really nice finishing powder and also sits nicely under the eyes. This leaves a really nice finish to the skin without looking powdery at all.
Besame Sleeping Beauty Pink Lipstick ~ $33.00 US. A faithful recreation of Aurora's actual lip color, matched to the original ink and paint colors used in the 1959 animated Disney classic. Sleeping Beauty Pink is a pale, nude pink for a more natural look and a perfect compliment to all skin tones.
The detail on this lipstick packaging is gorgeous - the print on the lipstick bullet, and even the little silhouette detail of Aurora on the side is lovely! Besame describes their signature formula as moisturizing, long-lasting, with a semi-matte satin finish.
Besame has this really unique wedge-shaped tip on their lipsticks. The shape is so you don't need a lipliner - apply to outer lips with narrow edge and fill in with the flat edge. Then, blot once or twice with a tissue for the perfect shape and fill!
I love that this is colour matched to be the exact shade the Aurora wore in the original film! I was a little worried initially that this would be too light of a pink for me, but looking at pictures from the film, her lips are the perfect my lips but better shade. So, this is a really nude, pink that is super flattering and easy to wear for lots of people!
I found that working with the Besame lipstick shape took a little bit of getting used too - I didn't mind it, it's just not something that I'm used to in a lipstick. I did like the initial lining, but I certainly could have made my lines a little cleaner. It filled in nicely and this is the colour with just one application. I thought the formula wore really well and I was so impressed with the staying power of this because it's a bullet lipstick - it's actually really long wearing and it's super comfortable! I've eaten in it and it's lasted a few hours with no retouch. I thought the formula looked even better after it dried down and wore for a couple of hours - it just looked really nice a little more matte.
Here is a full look with all the Besame Sleeping Beauty products on me! I'm using Aurora's Translucent Powder pressed under the eyes and lightly swept all over the face as a finishing powder. Then, I have the Sleeping Beauty Pink lipstick on, and on the face I have the Sleeping Beauty blush and highlighter on. I love all of these products on and this is such a great every day look! (This is the lipstick freshly applied - much more of a satin finish).
And, I had to include a look using the Maleficent blush and highlighter too! I again used Aurora's Translucent Powder and Sleeping Beauty lipstick. I will point out that this is the blush I little toned down - I sponged a tiny bit of foundation over the blush because it was just too pigmented and deep on me! I love the highlighter shade! (And this is the lipstick after being worn for about 2 hours - settles in matte, but very comfortable!)
I have to say, I was very excited about the Besame Sleeping Beauty collection and the products that I picked up really lived up to, and exceeded, my expectations! Besame put in a ton of effort in to the collection and it really shows - all of the packaging and shades are fantastic and I really like that everything is matched to the original 1959 film - it really feels like a 60th Anniversary collection! And, overall the products wowed me - they were all amazing quality and wore really well!
While I loved all the products that I tried from this collection, I need to make a note about the shipping time from Besame! I ordered directly from their site within the first hour or two of this product launching, and it took a month to get to me. I do appreciate that they are an independent brand and they were sharing that it was taking a while to ship to everyone. It's just at checkout time, it said expect a 7 day delay and it was about a 2 and a half to 3 week delay. But, they did include a hand cream in the package, I assume for the delay! I don't think this is a problem with a regular order, but we become so accustomed to the fasting shipping possible, it was just different from my recent shopping orders!
Is this a collection you would try? And, what have you tried from Besame Cosmetics? I'm really excited to try more from this brand because everything was so good that I tried!
I've never tried this brand, but that lip color is gorgeous! It looks like it turns a bit darker after a few hours?
ReplyDeleteYes, it certainly loses it cream sheen so it darkens a little bit!
DeleteOoh I love this collection! My daughter would go nuts over it, she's going as Aurora for Halloween this year.
ReplyDeleteThat lipstick does look like a shade that would suit lots of people, and a MLBB shade for me.
I've never tried Besame before, I'll have to keep them in mind in the future.
I was really happy with these products - I haven't tried much at all from Besame but I couldn't resist this collection!
DeleteI only have tried their setting powder, but that lipstick looks gorgeous! From packaging to colour!
