October 2016 - Monthly Empties

Here is a look at the products I used up in October:

Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer ~ travel size $26.00. Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer is a sheer, lightweight formula with a hint of color you can use in place of foundation for a natural finish and a healthy glowing complexion.

I liked this formula, but I didn't love it. I found it wasn't long lasting and I usually look for a tinted moisturizer while travelling to have something a little lighter. I will likely look for a different formula next time.
Repurchase: No

BECCA Backlight Priming Filter ~ sample (full size is $46.00). A makeup primer to help blur imperfections and impart a radiant glow.

I have heard really mixed reviews on this, so I was interested to see how I felt about this sample. This is probably the best primer I have ever tried! Seriously, I think it helped cover and smooth everything and brighten the skin!
Repurchase: Yes (after I finish my 20 primer samples)

Too Faced Shadow Insurance Glitter Glue Glitter Bonding Eye Shadow Primer ~ sample (full size is the $24.00). A glue specifically formulated to lock down eye glitter and enhance its reflective quality.

I used this with my loose glitter for a Halloween costume and thought it worked really well - held everything in place good and it lasted!
Repurchase: Possibly, I like finding this in sample size!

NYX Concealer Wand ~ $8.00. This lightweight cover-up obscures imperfections discoloration and under eye circles without ever looking cakey or obvious. Little wonder the Concealer Wand is one of our best-sellers. The concentrated emollient-rich formula goes on like a dream and creates medium to heavy coverage.

I have heard good things about this concealer, but I was not happy with this. I thought this was too thick and heavy and it did not blend out well at all. I generally like NYX products, but not this.
Repurchase: NO

TonlyMoly BCDation All Master SPF30 PA++ ~ sample size (full size is $18.90). By using hybrid powder, it maintains the high light adhesion sense and the long lasting. Perfectly covers the pores on the skin, giving liveliness and also the pefect fit to reveal the skin's natural brightness.

This was waaay to light for me - I could only use it if I mix it with a darker foundation. I thought it was a little too thick and didn't love the formula.
Repurchase: No

Make Up For Ever Smoky Extravagant Mascara ~ sample size 0.13 oz for $16.96 (full size is 0.23 oz for $30.00). A precision mascara that adds volume, length, and curl.

I received this in a past Topbox and liked this mascara. I like the brush and the formula - it is a drier formula, which I prefer. Overall, I liked the formula, but I do look for a little more volume in my mascara.
Repurchase: Maybe

Stila Stay All Day® Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner in Black ~ $29.00. This easy-glide, quick-dry precision liner stays in place until you say when—no smudges, feathering, or running. The thin, marker-like tip is easy to use, even for the beauty beginner, and delivers any look—from a thin line to a bold, dramatic stroke. It goes on smoothly without skipping, smudging, or pulling, and lasts all day.

This is my holy grail liquid eyeliner!! It has the best brush and formula and is just the best to use! Love!
Repurchase: Yes, ASAP!

Aurora Eyeliner Pen in Blackberry ~ full size $12.00. The German ink technology ensures this modern liquid eyeliner to draw a flawless even line with the ultra-thin felt tip. The long lasting ink formula will give you up to 24-hours of precision definition for even the sharpest of cat-eyes. The natural ink formula is 100% free of alcohol and won't smudge. This liner provides a smooth and luminous look for any occasion.

This eyeliner is not good - I only used this once and there is no sense keeping it to try and use it again. It is not really black and comes out more of a grey - it doesn't apply even and is just not good.
Repurchase: Nooooo

Lush Nightwing Shower Jelly ~ $6.95. A fang-tastically fruity jelly to put the bite back into bathtime. When the dark night rises, seek the fruity candy-scented salvation of this aloe vera and lime juice jelly and cover yourself in a sweet, carrageenan lather. For an extra stimulating hit, use it fresh from the fridge or freezer. A hint of vitamin E-rich carob syrup delivers extra nourishment to the body and adds to that deliciously fruity perfume.

This was a shower jelly from the Lush 2015 Halloween collection - this was a black jelly in the shape of a bat. This smelled like candy ans was soo good. My problem is that I don't like the jelly formula - I find it hard to use.

Repurchase: No

Revlon Professionals Uniq One Coconut Hair Treatment ~ sample size 9 ml for $1.18 (full size is 150 ml for $19.63). Uniq One All in One Coconut treatment with a fresh coconut fragrance provides 10 real hair benefits: Repair for dry & damaged hair, Shine & frizz control, Heat protection, Silkniess & smoothness, Hair color protection with UVA&UVB filters, Easier brushing & heat styling, Incredible detangling, Long-lasting hairstyle, Split ends prevention, Adds body.

I received this in a recent Topbox and thought this was a small sample - it only lasted a few uses so it's hard to say how it actually worked for my hair. I didn't think it was anything outstanding.
Repurchase: No

The Face Shop Clean Face Anti-Imperfection Patches ~ $2. These practical patches reduce the appearance of pimples as soon as they occur. Gentle on skin, they are easy to apply at any moment to fight against unexpected breakouts!

I really like the patches from The Face Shop - they come in 2 different sizes in the pack and apply well to the face! They also work really well and overnight my spots have been very visibly reduced - these made my Favorites in April too!

Repurchase: YES, with backups!

The Face Shop Seaweed Moisturizing Pack ~ sample size (full size is $15). This sleeping pack contains seaweed extract, providing vitality and moisture to tired and dry skin.

This was pretty good - I found it moisturizing and it worked well on my skin overnight. I do have a few other night masks that I prefer more, but this is great affordable option!
Repurchase: Potentially....

LJH Tea Tree Essence ~ 32,000 Won (approx. $27.41 USD). Contains pure 90%of tea tree extract. Contains trehalose to prevent skin dryness and dehydration. Soft touch with out stickiness. Makes dull skin to be clear and confident.

I had bought this quite a while ago in a k-beauty haul, and I did feature this on my Monthly Favorites in January. I really liked it at first, but by the end I didn't really love it. Maybe it was because I loved in the Winter, but not through the Summer. I would like to try it again to make up my mind!
Repurchase: Yes

Joe Fresh Cotton Pads ~ $2.00.

These are good - I usually just pick up this type at Superstore when I grocery shop as they work well. I do like them over most other types.

Repurchase: Yes

Burt's Bees Facial Cleansing Towelettes - Pink Grapefruit ~ $9.99 for 30 wipes. Specially crafted for normal to oily skin, our invigorating pink grapefruit towelettes cleanse away pore-clogging dirt, oil, and even makeup, for naturally clean skin with no heavy residue—and no rinsing. Gentle enough for daily use, even on acne-prone skin.

These were okay - I haven't really found face wipes that I like. This works well on swatches and small amounts of makeup; however, for a full face or eye makeup, they aren't amazing. I liked the smell, but nothing amazing.
Repurchase: No

Lush Monsters' Ball Bath Bomb ~ $7.25. Throw yourself a ball by revelling in possibly the most beautiful bath water ever. This cyclops' outer layer creates layers of pink froth on top of deep blue-purple waters as its fruity lime and neroli perfume fills the air. Make sure you save a dance for this beautiful monstrosity. Trust us, you won't regret it!

I loved this bath bomb - this smelled amazing and how cute it this?! I love this bath bomb!
Repurchase: Yes, if it's available next Halloween

Lush Boo Luxury Bath Melt ~ $5.95. Our luxurious Halloween bath melt might be one of the smallest treats in the range, but don't let appearances fool you: this little ghost packs a serious perfumed punch! Drop Boo into your bath water and watch it slowly go milky with moisturizing cocoa butter to give you hauntingly beautiful skin, perfumed with warming ginger and a bouquet of floral and citrus oils.

This was probably my favorite item that I tried from the Lush 2016 Halloween collection - this smelled amazing and was so soothing and relaxing in the bath tub! Loved - I wish that I bought more of them!
Repurchase: Yes, if it's available next year!

Lush Pumpkin Bath Bomb ~ $6.95. This year, we're introducing a very traditional looking fizzer to our limited edition range: one look at those geometric features is all it takes to put you in a Halloween-y mood! With a spicy, sweet perfume full of exotic pimento, sweet vanilla and warming cinnamon, our jack-o'-lantern will have you imitating his toothy grin once he hits your bath water.

This smelled good - it certainly had more spice notes in it then I normally go for but I found it very relaxing!
Repurchase: Likely!

So for October I used up 18 products - this actually seems like so few since I have been around 30 or more the past few months. I knew it would have to wear off eventually, but I did get through more makeup than I have in past months.

  1. I find the Burt's Bees wipes a little too dry for my taste. I don't want to feel like I need to press really hard to remove my makeup! I love the Joe Fresh cotton pads. I find most cotton pads come apart so easily and these ones hold up well.

    1. Ya, I haven't found many wipes I like - I think they all make you work too hard to remove eye makeup!
