Monthly Beauty Favourites - May 2022

Here's a look at what I've been loving this past month:

I purchased everything - this post contains affiliate links

I used to always have pick 5 products each month for my Monthly Favourites, but that is one thing I'm changing this year - whatever I'm loving, I will share whether it's 2 or 10 products!

Most of these products were products that I used on my trip! Here is a look at the products I've been loving this month:

ColourPop Darth Vader Shadow Palette ~ $16.00 US ($20.64 CAN). Go rogue with the ultimate Sith Lord baddie! In collaboration with Disney and Lucasfilm, this special edition Darth Vader Palette features empire inspired hues in a cool mix of sleek greys, gunmetals and charcoals, with pops of scarlet and merlot.

I'm really surprised how much I love this palette - the colour story is not what I typically go for; but, I loved the looks I got from this and it really sparked my creativity. This is a pretty blend of cool tone shadows - taupe, greys, and deep charcoals and burgundy. It's a mix of 4 mattes, 1 matte with speckles, 1 supershock shadow, and 3 metallics, so it's a good mix of formulas and a pretty good range of shades. This formula is fantastic - if you want to see it on my eye, check out my full review here.

Urban Decay All Nighter Long-Lasting Makeup Setting Spray ~ $42.00 CAN. An award-winning lightweight setting and finishing spray that keeps makeup fresh, smudge-proof, and transfer resistant for up to 16 hours.

This is a pretty iconic setting spray, and I featured it years ago in my overall best setting sprays, but then used a whole bunch of other ones since. I needed a travel size setting spray for my trip to Italy this past month, and I knew this one would be perfect and I wasn't wrong. Now, I didn't wear a ton of makeup because it was 30+ degrees there everyday and humid, but what I did wear (concealer, blush, etc) all stayed on all day including some masking days, and it was all thanks to this!

Essie Gel Couture Top Coat ~ $14.99 CAN. Inspired by haute couture fashion, essie gel couture is luxury longwear nail polish formula in a 2-step system for precise application and easy removal at home. Chip-resistant, fade-resistant, and even color coverage for manicure perfection, gel couture is your key to lasting confidence.

A good top coat is everything, and I can't believe I haven't put this in a favourites before - I've certainly recommended to people as a favourite but haven't repurchased in a while as I found a nail art polish that works best when I do my nails weekly. This one is good when I need them to last longer than that! May was crazy, I was super busy before my trip that I couldn't do my nails one week and this lasted the whole two weeks and they looked great, then I used this while away on my two week vacation as I couldn't do my nails. This lasted the whole time with chipping only happening the last two days or so and that was just around the two week mark! This works amazing, goes on great - dry time is a little slow, but totally worth it!

Rohto Mentholatum Skin Aqua Super Moisture Essence Sunscreen SPF50+/PA++++ ~ $15.29 CAN. Essence-type sunscreen boasts strong SPF 50+ PA++++ protection. Contains cherry blossom leaf extract and bilberry leaf extract to moisturize skin. Waterproof, sweat-resistant formulation is proven to not cause allergies. Suitable for use on both face and body.

I'm a little surprised I haven't talked about this one yet either, but I have been testing it out and my trip to Italy was a big test for this - this sunscreen is fantastic, especially with my combo leaning oily in warm weather skin. Italy was super humid and I wore this every day on my face and upper body and it did the trick - no burns, tans, etc. My skin looked great and this does not look greasy on the face, absorbs well and works fantastic. It's all about the PA++++ and Japanese sunscreens are the best there is!

What were you guys loving this month?
