Happy Friday everyone - I hope you all had a great week! Things have started to wind down here for us and we haven't been super crazy, which is great!

Always happy to share my thoughts on more books here - today I'm sharing my review for A Grandmother Begins The Story by Michelle Porter. I have read a previous book by Michelle Porter, and one thing I really enjoy is her unique writing style - this was written in short quick chapters (we're talking one to five pages max) in alternating perspectives throughout the book. It followed five generations of women in the same family, all going through a unique difficult time, including some estrangement and trauma. The story unfolds as we watch these women attempt to reconnect and rebuild their family connection, however difficult it may be. We also get a few chapters from buffalo, pets and a car as well to keep the story unique with everyone having a distinct voice.

I really enjoyed hearing the family perspective and wanted to hear more from some of the women - Allie and Lucie would have been great to hear more from their point-of-few, so I did find the other story line a little distracting; however, I do know the importance of buffalo to the land and the people and I do think it added to the story overall. Unique, well written read! 4 stars.

TWO

This past weekend I took Elliott out to see Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Mutant Mayhem - the new movie that was just released a couple of weeks ago and I really enjoyed it! I thought the take was really fresh - the characters were great, the music was good, the art style was amazing and we really enjoyed it!

THREE

The theatre we went to the weekend was a clubhouse theatre - it has a play place inside and it was so cool! It opens for 30 minutes before the movie so the kids can run around and burn off all their energy before the movie. The seats were still comfy recliners and it was a great experience!

FOUR

I'm so excited that it is Pumpkin Spice Latte time!! Yesterday Starbucks launched their pumpkin drinks - I picked out the Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew and it was amazing. I don't treat myself to coffee out much so it was so yummy! Cheers to Fall time!

FIVE

This week Aksoka started and we watched the first episode - I enjoyed it! I love the focus on female characters and jedis! We are still trying to figure out the storyline but I was surprised with where the first episode went, I'm excited to see where it goes!

I hope you all have a good weekend!
