Monthly Beauty and Book Haul ~ August 2022

I'm switching up my Monthly Haul posts a little bit this year, because I'm actually *trying* to stick to a bit of a budget! I've been going a little crazy on the beauty and books front, so I just want to be a little more thoughtful in my purchases. So. I'm trying to keep my beauty and book purchases to $200 a month - we'll see!

I do always love my Monthly Haul posts - it's a good way to keep track of everything that I picked up each month. I don't always blog about everything I pick up (I try to), but if you ever spot anything in here that you really want me to talk about, let me know!

I purchased everything in this post

Jaclyn Cosmetics Order ~ $85.95 CAN + $14.33 customs. I have been waiting to try the Jaclyn Cosmetics formula for a while and the last palette didn't interest me much; but, this pinky berry neutral palette did! It's really pretty, the packaging is cute and I also picked up a lip oil from the brand as well. A little bummed I got hit with customs as well, but excited to share my thoughts on these soon!

Indigo Preorder ~ $17.12 CAN. I was so excited when I saw there was a Sally book coming out this year, and I caught myself up on all Shea Ernshaw's book and I think she's got a good mix of atmospheric writing and light reads to make this one a good book! I'm going to wait until a little closer to Halloween to read it!

Used Book Haul ~ $7.00 CAN. I went to a big outdoor book sale in Invermere earlier this month and I was pretty happy to find the second book in the Beartown Backman series (yet to start the first, but I will soon), and Fatty Legs is a graphic novel or younger book about a residential school experience.

Marketplace Books ~ $20.00 CAN. I love finding used books on Marketplace - I have been looking for this series used for a while and haven't been able to find it before. This is book 2 and 3 in the Brown sisters series (adult romance that's pretty spicy) - I've read the first two and they are pretty good, looking forward to the third as I've heard it's the best!

Marketplace Find ~ $10.00 CAN. Another one I'm super excited to find used on Marketplace was The House in the Cerulean Sea - I loved this book after listening to it on audio and knew I needed a copy in my collection!

Walmart Purchase ~ $13.62 CAN. Ahhh these kinds of purchases are hard to put in here, but I have to - I went to Edmonton last week and forgot a setting spray! It was too hot in the building we were staying in not to use one, so even though I didn't need another one, I had to pick this up!

Bookoutlet Order ~ $23.95 CAN. Bookoutlet has been having a great sale for the past couple of weeks, where all adult and YA fiction are $7.49 (or cheaper), so I picked up a few books I've read that I've been waiting to find for a good price to add to my bookshelves. I love this fairytale version with all the Grimms stories, and the other two, I know I like so happy to find them at a good price!

Indigo Preorders ~ $33.62 CAN. These haven't arrived for me yet, but both are on their way as they were published today and pre-ordered them before, so they should be arriving soon! I'm a big TJR fan, so I had to get her new book and Belladonna by Adalyn Grace sounds good (I'm just finishing up an ARC copy) and I'm excited for both of these!

Book Depository Order ~ $12.75 CAN. I like ordering from BookDepository for UK covers and books - Paula Hawkins is one that I would like to catch up on her books, so I picked up her novella, and I couldn't resist ordering a paperback cover of the book Lonely Castle in the Mirror (it doesn't release until Sept, but I paid up front for this pre-order!)

So I spent $247.34 this month - it's certainly more than I wanted to spend as I really am trying to maintain that $200, and the last two months I've been closer to $250. That being said, about $30 was costs I wasn't planning on with the customs cost and having to but a new product in Edmonton! I am happy with everything I picked up (pretty book heavy month) and I will use everything I picked up!
