Manicure Monday - Stamped Jurassic Park Dinosaur Nails

Happy Monday everyone! I hope you all had a great weekend - mine was a little exhausting (kid was up all Saturday night), so I'm really happy that I took today off as a little day to myself today!

The dark green OPI was received as a PR sample

We are kind of dinosaur geeks around my house (my teenager still wants to be a palaeontologist), so when MoYou London announced that they were doing a Jurassic Park collab, I placed an order right away so I didn't miss out! (These shipped from the UK, so they did take a couple of weeks to get to me and sadly, the collection is no longer on the UK website, but it looks like it's coming soon to Beautometry!)

I am trying to get more in to stamping because I love the intricate designs and honestly, my creativity just hasn't been flowing for amazing nail art lately, so nail stamping plates are like an external brain for nails because the images are already there, you just add colour and layer as much or as little as you like. (I mean that as no insult, some days I like to do it all myself, other times, it's nice to have the design pre-prepped!)

Along, with the new Jurassic Park plate, I just picked up this new Sally Hansen Insta-Dri polish in Gain Mo-Mint-Um from the Spring 2021 Into Nostalgia collection (which was fairly new until they announced the Mentos collab - I can't keep up sometimes even when I try!)

The products I used for this week's mani are:
I loved the Gain Mo-Mint-Um look and shade name, and thought it was perfect for our #CBBxManiMonday green month, but it's actually a pretty sky blue making it the perfect backdrop for this Dinosaur Mani!

Disclaimer - I was totally inspired by a mani on the MoYou Instagram page showing how to layer these plates, and that's how I got the idea for this mani! Also, I'm still a fairly new stamper, so work bear with me as I figure it out! And, I will try stamping with any polish whether it's a stamping polish or not, sometime it works, but not always - it has worked so far with all the OPI polishes that I've tried, but you can tell they are on the thin side when you stamp them!

For this manicure, I started with a base coat and then 2 coats of the light blue as the base polish. Then using the light green, I stamped the highest and farthest back landscape (I picked a different backdrop for each nail). Then, using the dark green polish, I created the middle landscape (again, I picked a different image for each nail). Then, I used a black polish and stamped the front landscape image on the lower portion of the nail, and then I stamped a different dinosaur in black on each nail!

I love how these turned out! The layers add such a cool depth to the images and I love the dinosaurs! I wish these stamping plates weren't so limited edition, because they are super cool - I can't wait for more dino nails!

As always, make sure to check out Cosmetic Proof and Prairie Beauty Love to see their nails too!
