Top 10 Favourites - Makeup, Skincare, and Nail Discoveries of 2020

Time to chat about my Favourite Products of the year! The last couple of years, I've broken this down in to different posts per category of products, but honestly, I could wrap up my Best of the Best for the whole year on to two hands, so I decided to change up the format for this year!

With that being said, everything I talked about on my Monthly Favourites, I still love; but, when I think of the best products of the year, I think of the ones that have been total standouts or game-changers in my routine! So, that is what I'm going to focus on for this year's Top 10 Favourites!

Let's take a closer look at all the products that were my Favourite this year:

Top 10 Favourites - Makeup, Skincare, and Nail Discoveries of 2020

Kaleidos Cosmetics Futurism VII: Sashimi City Eyeshadow Palette ~ $24.00 US. Dynamic, cosmopolitan salmon delicacies. Saunter down a lively boulevard and soak up the vibe while indulging in renowned specialties. Includes four muted mattes, one sumptuous multichrome, and one savory sparkling duochrome.

Kaleidos was on my wishlist of brands to this year, so I was really excited when they released a neutral palette for me to try and I jumped on it! You can see a whole post with this palette (and a highlighter) swatched and a makeup look! The formula is lovely - the mattes are super soft and blendable - the shimmers are pretty, more topper shades, but they are so pretty. The shadows wear really well and it quickly became my go-to neutral palette! And now that I know I love the formula, I'm really excited to try more of their products!

Catrice HD Liquid Coverage Foundation in 030 Sand Beige ~ $13.99 CAN. Catrice's HD Liquid Coverage Foundation is an ultra-lightweight, high coverage foundation for a natural looking finish.

This was one of the first products that I tried this year and it was an instant love with this - you can see a full look of Catrice products; but, I also used this all year in a bunch of looks. I used it all year and totally used it up and have backups! It was a very liquidy formula, but that made it a super lightweight formula, while being a medium-full coverage foundation! It dries down and wears all day and was just a fantastic formula and I think it would be suitable for all skin types!

Cheekbone Beauty Lipstick in Keyah ~ $32.00 CAN. Say hello to Kéyah, a peachy pink nude, part of our new Sustain Lipstick Collection! This collection of sustainable lipsticks, with biodegradable packaging, sustainably sourced ingredients, and no additional packaging, is our first step to creating a carbon-neutral beauty brand.

I had been wanting to try out Cheekbone for a while, so I am really happy that I tried a couple of products from them this year! Cheekbone Beauty is an indigenous women owned Canadian brand and they are on a mission to be more environmentally friendly. This Sustain lipstick line was released with compostable packaging and it's a lovely formula - it's creamy and soft, but it also wears well and looks amazing on. The colour Keyah is a my lips but better shade and it's lovely - you can see it on me on a Cheekbone Beauty post here

NYX Bare With Me Tinted Skin Veil in Natural Soft Beige ~ $15.99 CAN. Reveal your freshest self with our new Bare With Me Tinted Skin Veil! Simply smooth  this weightless formula onto the complexion for light, breathable coverage with a  seamless and satiny finish.

I had some seriously good skin phases at the start of the year and it really opened my eyes to lighter finish face products and this was a totally standout! This is a sheer to light finish and I prefer to apply it was a brush - it covers redness and uneveness, but still lets your natural skin shine through and wears for a full day! You can see the NYX Tinted Veil on me in a makeup look here

Clionadh Cosmetics Stained Glass Shadows in Rose Line, Burnt Sienna , Sand Blast, and Throne ~ $17.00 CAN to $25.00 CAN each. The "Stained Glass Collection" was inspired by the beautiful art of stained glass and the vibrant tones used to create these masterpieces. This collection consists of 92 multichrome shadows and includes four different formula types: Jewelled Multichromes, Iridescent Multichromes, Glitter Multichromes and Pastel Multichromes.

The Clionadh Cosmetics Stained glass collection shadows are absolutely gorgeous! There is a wide range of shades and finishes and they are all really unique and stunning! This line was my first time trying multichrome shadows earlier this year and I love them! These shadows apply so pigmented, especially applied with a finger or wet brush and they look lovely and wear well!
You can see the shadows on me here (and swatched to see the shift in them) in a full try on with the shadows - certainly my favorites were the one that were really pigmented and shifty. But, I also just used an iridescent shadow as a nail polish topper for my mani and that was really unique too!

Natasha Denona Triochrome Eyeshadow Palette ~ $170.00 CAN. A palette with three different pressed-pigment, multi-chrome shades in the center of each row and their complementary tones to complete a makeup look.

How stunning is this palette?! This is one of the newest products of the year that I'm featuring on here, but it is just too good not to share! This is also pricey palette, so I understand it's not for everyone, but the formula is fantastic and if this colour story is up your alley, I don't think you would be disappointed.

The mattes are super bendable and soft, and the multichromes and very pigmented, easy to apply, and look gorgeous on the eyes! I love that the rows work together almost like three 5 pan palettes in one or you can mix and match thoughout the whole palette. I also love the amount of mattes that you can make tons of full looks with. It was also the most inspiring colour story of the whole year to create looks with - if you want to see it on, I did a full post with 3 looks, review and swatches here if you are interested

Top 10 Favourites - Makeup, Skincare, and Nail Discoveries of 2020

Lush Beauty Sleep Face and Body Mask ~ $16.95 CAN for 4.4 oz or $33.95 CAN for 11.1 oz. Inspired by the quest for a good night’s sleep, Beauty Sleep is just the way to relax, restore and look radiant for tomorrow. This decadent mask is composed of calming lemon verbena and valerian root extracted in honey, soothing fresh coconut and a hydrating mullein leaf and linseed decoction. And, if this mask wasn't dreamy enough, we've added a dollop of Lush’s most exquisite moisturizer, Gorgeous.

This is a rinse off face mask that is sort of a combination of the Sleepy ingredients (lavender, ylang ylang and tonka) with a spoonful of gorgeous moisturizer. It is a nice texture and it doesn't dry down or get uncomfortable on the face, so it actually rinses off really easy and leave my face bright, clear and soft! It smells lovely and it's such a nice mask!

Sephora Collection Facial Cooling Globes ~ $33.00 CAN. A two-piece set of facial cooling globes that help soothe and massage your face and neck, upgrading your skincare routine.

I heard about cooling globes pretty late in the year, but I was very intrigued and when I saw them from Sephora, I had to pick them up. I love skincare tools and these are awesome! I keep these in my skincare fridge and you just massage and roll them all over your face. I found them so soothing all over my face and they helped soothed some painful dry eyelids and these with an eye cream and facial oil were lovely and cleared it up! These were really good and I love the cooling massage!

Essie Expressie Nail Polish in "In The Time Zone" ~ $10.49 CAN. Expressie; the only quick dry nail polish worthy enough of carrying the essie name. Expressie dries in about a minute so you can grab, try and apply on-the-fly.

I can't believe I only tried this formula this year - everything pre-pandemic feels much longer ago than it actually was! But, I tried this formula in February and it was amazing! This was a new formula at the start of the year and it is true that it dries in minutes - it applies really nicely and dries instantly. It's amazing for doing nail art polish over or when you need something quick! Plus the formula is really long lasting! I have this in a creme and a shimmery finish and they are both great!

Indeed Labs Watermelon Melting Balm ~ $24.99 CAN. Tired of harsh cleansers that strip your skin? Enter watermelon melting balm. This oil-based cleansing balm melts onto the skin and creates a gentle lather when mixed with water to dissolve makeup, dirt and oils, all while nourishing dry and dehydrated skin.

This was my first introduction to Indeed Labs and this instantly jumped to the top of the cleansing balms that I've tried. I tried another that is a great formula, but also the packaging of this balm is fantastic! I love a squeeze tube and you aren't digging around inside a pot! The product itself is also fantastic - I forgot sometimes to even use a second cleanser after this and didn't need a micellar water or eye makeup remover beforehand. It was just so effective at breaking down and removing makeup! So good!

What was your favourite product of the year?!
