Five on Friday - August 7, 2020

Happy Friday everyone! I always feel like short weeks are way busier, especially after getting home late on Monday night and jumping right back in to work, so I'm so happy it's Friday! Also, it's been 4 weekends away so I'm looking forward to a relaxing weekend!

I'm really trying to get back in to my Monthly Makeup Baskets and I used the July basket a lot, so I'm hoping I use the products I picked for August as well! I've been in a bit of a slump not wearing much makeup, so I'm hoping these products help me feel inspired again!

The products that I planning on focusing on in August are:
  • Besame Briar Rose Blush Palette ~ this is such a gorgeous palette from the Besame x Sleeping Beauty collection that came out last year! I love the colours and the highlighters are so pretty in here (I need to use the blushes more!)
  • L'Oreal Paradise Enchanted Scented Blush in "Fantastical" - this is a really great peachy blush that I've just overlooked this year and not really used (mainly because I was panning my Too Faced peach blush for the first few months of the year!)
  • Illamasqua Beyond Powder Highlighter in Deity - This is such a gorgeous highlighter - it's very shimmery and has this gorgeous illuminating finish! This highlighter is perfect for Summer!
I'm looking forward to using these products this month!

It's July 31 so we all know it's the Chosen One's birthday (Harry Potter for all you muggles who don't know the occasion)! I picked up some delicious wizarding treats from @prettysweetyyc - the butterbeer cookies and the tastiest things ever and clearly macarons are my favourite treats and I caught a golden snitch! Also, myself and Pretty Sweet do not agree with She Who Must Not Be Named (the author) and her very anti-trans stance, so a portion of their sales is being donated to @skippingstoneca, an Alberta agency supporting trans and diverse gender youth! . . . #july31 #happybirthdayharrypotter #prettysweetyyc #skippingstoneca #transrightsarehumanrights #calgaryblogger #yycsweets #calgaryeats

Last weekend was Harry Potter's birthday - it's hard right now to be a part of the HP fandom while knowing the author has gone completely off the deep-end with her transphobic tweets and comments. So, I'm so glad a Calgary bakery, Pretty Sweet YYC, was making wizarding treats and donating a portion to an Alberta agency supporting trans and gender diverse youth, Skipping Stones

THREE
We spent the August long weekend at the cabin again in Fairmont! We went with our friends and their little guy who is the same age as Elliott! It was blazing hot out and I finally jumped in the Columbia River (which is so freezing), but I needed to cool off. We also kayaked down the river, went to the beach and took the boys out for ice cream!

FOUR
I got a little sample in the mail this week from Topbox Circle and I'm actually quite excited to try the Garnier Bio Anti-Age Day Care lotion! It sounds really good!

FIVE
Here are the past few Palettes of the Week that I've been using! The first was the "My Little Pony palette" - you can see my swatches and look here with this palette (I have been using this so much this year, especially with my Shop My Stash palettes) and I really love this one! I also used the Storybook Cosmetics Little Women palette - you can see my original look and swatches with this palette here; but, I just had a hard time using and creating looks with the shades in this palette so I did end up decluttering it last month!

Then I used the Too Faced Papaya Pop palette and it's so lovely - I just reviewed the palette recently and it's full of gorgeous shades and great formulas! Then I used the good ol' classic Too Faced Sweet Peach palette that still works and looks great!

I hope you all have a great weekend!
