So, any chance I get to try Catrice, I will take it because they are affordable drugstore products that are good quality!
They recently came out with a line of "Bae" palettes, the Basic Bae palette that is a lighter and neutral palette, the Badass Bae palette that is a really warm, deep palette and the Self-Made Bae that is cooler, taupey pink palette!
Catrice Self-Made Bae Palette ~ $16.99 CAN. Self-Made BAE YASS, QUEEN, you were born to shine with Catrice's Instagram inspired palette featuring 12 intensely pigmented eyeshadows in deep berry and earthy shades with matte and shimmering finishes.
This is a 12-pan palette that is a cooler, taupey and berry shadows - this has a mix of mattes, satins, and shimmers. It's actually not a typical shade range that I would reach for, I tend to stick to warmer eyeshadows; but, this is really pretty and I do love berry shadow looks, so I was excited to try it. Also, I've already been impressed with the Catrice eyeshadow formula and I do like that this was a range of palettes with three different shade ranges!
This palette comes with a good range of light, medium and dark shades, which is great! The only thing that I would improve about this palette is that a lot of deeper shades are shimmers and satins, which just makes blending and completing a look a little more difficult. Satins can be blended in the outer corner and crease, but they just don't blend as well as mattes! Really, this only has 3 mattes - Self-Made, Empire and Hustle. Everything deeper than Hustle is a shimmer or satin!
#SELFMADE ~ Cream matte
#SLAY ~ Champagne shimmer
#HBIC ~ Gold Shimmer
#MONEY ~ Khaki green metallic
#CEO ~ Rose gold shimmer
#EMPIRE ~ Mauve matte
#HUSTLE ~ Burgundy matte
#BOSS ~ Berry satin
#WERK ~ Bronze metallic
#QUEEN ~ Plum metallic
#ROLEMODEL ~ Cool brown satin
#EQUALPAY ~ Deep plum brown satin
All the shadows applied and swatched well. I think Catrice has a really nice shimmer formula - they are pigmented and adhere and wear well. The shimmers were nice, but, I thought they were better applied being patted on as opposed to blended on. The matte formula blended well.
I did an eye look using the Self-Made Bae Eyeshadow Palette:
I started with SelfMade as the base eyeshadow, then I applied Empire as the transition shade in the crease. Then I deepened the crease with Boss and applied Queen to the outer corner of the lid. I applied Money to the middle lid and Slay to the inner lid and inner corner. I finished the look with Werk on the lower lash line.
I was really happy with the look overall and used this for a week straight and enjoyed the looks I got out of the palette. The shimmers are so gorgeous applied, and again, the only thing I wish is for a few more mattes to work with as most of the looks tend to be quite shimmery overall.
I actually really liked how the colour palette worked for me as well - it makes me want to play with cooler eyeshadows more! I love the shades in this palette and overall the quality and price are great! I would highly recommend trying something from Catrice if you are interested! There is certainly more that I'm interested in and plan on trying soon!
Have you guys tried Catrice yet? What did you think of products you've tried?
Haven't tried Catrice yet but have been watching these palettes with great interest. I usually go more for purples but your look is very pretty so I may succumb at some point.
ReplyDeleteThanks - this a nice palette if you like purple tones as it's plum an taupe, so a good mix with purple too!
