I'm teaming up again with Jayne from Cosmetic Proof and Trysh from Prairie Beauty Love - and this week we picked Gradient/Ombre as our theme for our nails this week!
I really wanted to do a gradient nail with my favorite Spring colours! I went with pink, orange and plum - I think they paired really nicely with each other! And, for an added fun touch, how cute are the nail polish and lipstick stickers?!
The products I used for this week's Mani are:
-Sally Hansen in Pep-plum
-Sally Hansen in Sunkissed
-LVX polish in Lolli
-makeup sponge
-not pictured - Formula X nail cleanser, base coat and top coat
-not pictured - beauty tool nail stickers
Ombre nails are not something I do very often; but, now that I did them this week, I am going to do it more often! I could probably use a little more practice with the sponges; but, I will get the hang of it!
The steps I followed for this week's nails are:
1. Nail cleanser and base coat
2. One coat of base polish (use the lightest shade)
3. Let dry well
4. On the makeup sponge, paint a couple of stripes the size of your nails on to the sponge - use 2 or 3 colors! (I showed a picture of my sponge above!)
5. Dab the sponge on the nail and move up and down a little bit to blend the colours
6. You may need to repaint the colours on to the sppnge and re-apply to the nail a couple of time - let the coats dry in between. For reference, my nails took 3 applications!
7. Let dry well and apply top coat.
8. If you want an added touch - apply a couple of cute nail stickers (this particular brand is not available anymore, but similar ones can be found on etsy/most polish sites!) And, reapply top coat.
While my ombre isn't the most amazing technically, I think the colours look amazing! Again, make sure you check out Cosmetic Proof and Prairie Beauty Love - they are totally going to nail the ombre nails!
