Cougar Beauty Liquid Lipstick "Rioja" - Swatch, Makeup Look and Review!

One of my favorite parts of being a beauty blogger (and subscription box addict) are all the new beauty brands I have found myself being introduced to. I was first introduced to Cougar Beauty through Boxycharm last year, so I am happy to showcase a liquid lipstick from the brand because I think it not well known in Canada! 

Cougar Beauty is a cruelty-free brand that is manufactured in the UK. They focus on providing high quality must-have products! They are focused on using innovative formulas, while staying environmentally focused. All ingredients are sourced locally, so transportation and manufacturing emissions are kept to a minimum. I really love this brand philosophy and think any company taking an environmental and cruelty-free stance is great! 

This brand has a wide range of products from makeup (body shimmer, fibre lashes, lipsticks and more) to skin care (serums, creams, cleansers etc.) so there is something for everyone! 

Cougar Beauty 24 Hour Liquid Lipstick in "Rioja" ~ £6.99 ($8.72 US). Our Liquid Lipsticks are perfect for creating a long lasting, bold & striking lip. Formulated to be quick drying, full coverage, non smudging or streaking but completely hydrating all at the same time.

The shade Rioja is described as "a deep and daring red wine shade". I am always looking for the perfect, everyday red for my skintone. The swatch I saw, this appears to be a pinkier red, which I think will work well for me! 

This liquid lipstick comes with the typical doe foot applicator, but it's actually a little smaller than some other applicators which should make for a bit more precise application!

Here is the lipstick applied to me (I did use 2 coats for an even application, but no lip liner and photo taken in natural light):

This picture is taken a couple of minutes after application, so you can see it is a quick drying formula and it it dries nice and matte. The formula doesn't budge once it is on! I do need to wear a lipliner because I tend to draw outside the lines a little, but I did want to show the product on it's own. You can see on the top lip that the smaller applicator is quite precise! 

Also, this did take 2 coats for a full coverage, even look. The formula does sink in to my lip lines, a bit and it is a drying formula - but no more than most other matte lipstick formulas. It still looked very similar to this after 8 hours of wear (with only a little bit of lift on the inner line of the lips) but not enough to need a reapplication at all!

I think I have found the everyday red lipstick for my skintone - I love this! It's not too red, not too pink, not to bright, but still bold! And - it wears all day! I thought I would pair it with a nice, warm, neutral eye look but it is very versatile and could stand up to lots of eye looks!
