August 2016 Month in Masks & Mask Empties

Masking is a huge part (and probably my favorite part) of my skincare routine! I try and use them as often as possible as I find they really help moisturize and improve my skin! 

This post is a review of all the masks I use each month and mini reviews on all of them - I also consider the Month of Masks my Mask Empties post, because I do not feature my sheet masks in my monthly empties post! You can check out my past Month of Masks here! 

Here is a look at the masks I used this month:

August 1

Secret Key Syn-ake Wrinkle Mask Pack ~ $4. ★SYN-AKE is a kind of Peptides which is similar molecular structure to snake venom. It is developed by Pentapharm company, Swiss, one of the best cosmetic company in the world. It has excellent effect for anti-wrinkle.

This mask has a weird fit - it was really wide, but then super short on my face?! It did not fit well at all and did not cover my face very well. Blah. The mask itself was pretty good, but I could not get over the terrible fit.

Repurchase: No

August 2

The Face Shop Sparkling Wine Mask ~ $3.00. Formulated with sparkling water and grape ingredients for resilient skin.

These masks appear to only be available in The Face Shop stores, not online. I have reviewed this mask a long time ago, but if you want to see a more detailed review, you can go here! This mask smelled faintly like grapes, but it didn't have as much essence on it as I normally like! It lasted 30 minutes and worked good.

Repurchase: Likely

August 3

Joe Fresh Purifying Mask Fresh Cucumber Scent ~ $2.00 or 3 for $5.00. Peel-off mask purifies skin by removing dirt and impurities; unblocks pores to leave skin feeling soft, smooth and refreshed.

I reviewed this mask for a Mask Wednesday review - you can see the detailed review here! This mask goes on like a normal peel off mask - a little sticky and goopy, but took 15-20 minutes to dry on the face. It peeled off really easy and smelled like artificial cucumbers. This wasn't drying at all and my skin felt refreshed after! I will say, the only thing that was weird was how much product was in the pouch - enough for 2 uses but this type of mask wouldn't store well so share with a friend! 

Repurchase: Likely 

August 4 

The Face Shop Real Nature Face Mask - Honey ~$2.00. Get radiant and illuminated skin in an instant with this Honey Face Mask. The honey extract, with its nourishing properties, reveals younger looking, invigorated skin.

The Face Shop are easily my go to for inexpensive sheet masks - they are also the only k-beauty store I have seen in Calgary so they are accessible too! This mask fit a little big on my face, but it had a lot of essence and it worked really well! This honey one was so soothing and it lasted quite a while - it made my skin feel really good!

Repurchase: Yes! 

August 5
Mediheal Tea Tree Care Solutions Essential Mask ~ $1.99 (around $3.49 in Superstore). The MEDIHEAL Tea Tree Care Solutions Essential Mask is was the 2015 Glowpick winner in its category. It is formulated with Tea Tree Leaf Oil to help control sebum secretion and soothe dry or irritated skin. 

I was excited to see Mediheal in my local superstore - my skin really needed the tea tree for some blemishes! This mask fit well and had a little exta essence to apply first. This mask lasted a long time and made my skin feel great! I really liked this mask! 
Repurchase: Yes! 

August 6

Juara Skincare Turmeric Antioxidant Radiance Facial Mask ~ sample size 0.34 oz for $4.19 (full size is 3 oz for $37). A must for radiant skin, JUARA’s Turmeric Antioxidant Radiance Mask utilizes the proven power of Indonesian turmeric. This powerful mask detoxifies, brightens and strengthens stressed, tired, dull-looking skin in one single application. Turmeric extract works to brighten and even out skin tone while providing antioxidant protection, kaolin clay purifies skin and refines pores and a touch of candlenut oil is added to soften and nurture skin. This unique mask is a great instant pick me up!

This is a rinse off mask - you apply a layer of the mask to the face and leave on for 15 minutes before rinsing off. This mask is warming and slightly tingly (but not too tingly). This made my skin feel and look amazing! I reviewed this a little while ago on a Wine and Mask Wednesday that you can check out here! 

Repurchase: I'm thinking YES! 

August 7

I reviewed this for a Skincare Sunday post - you an see the detailed review here! This is a really amazing shipped velvet texture and applied so smoothly to my skin! This smelled amazing and rinsed off really easy. It made my skin look brighter and it felt great!
Repurchase: Maybe, I will use the sample first before I decide!

August 8
The Yeon Jeju Hallabong Energy Live Pack - 21,800 won (approximately $19.80 US). A new type cooling moisture pack doing hot and dry skin care effectively with cooling effect and moisturizing effect with bouncy property like made by ground Hallabong. Extract of Hallabong known as treasury of Vitamin, kiwi, lemon glass, brocoli extract give energy to the skin, do skin care animatingly, Portulaca extract used to reinforce mild usage feeling protects the skin from stimulus, keeps it more moistly and flexibly.

This is another rinse off type of mask - you apply it with a spatula to the face. As you are applying, try to break up some of the big clumps to let it absorb easier in to the skin. Leave the mask on for 15-20 minutes and rinse off. This mask is instantly cooling on the skin and feels really cool on! I have completed a full review on this last year - you can check it out here!

How crazy is this mask?! Omg it has actual ear flaps that stretch both from the cheek flaps and the chin flap (it is supposed to help with the "lifting" properties! Scary looking masks are pretty much my favorites so I loved this - it actually really helped with this mask staying on and it lasted a long time. I actually really liked this! (I got this in a past Mask Genie pouch)
Repurchase: Yes, if I can find them!

August 10

Tata Harper Resurfacing Mask ~ sample (full size is $77.00). This powerful Resurfacing Mask works like a traditional peel to provide an instant solution for dull skin—without causing downtime or irritation. Formulated to deeply purify and help decongest surface debris and dead skin for a refreshed, revitalized appearance, it minimizes the appearance of pores for smooth, glowing skin.

This mask is a wash-off mask and is a thick gel texture when applied. It dries fairly quickly but you are supposed to leave it on for 20-30 minutes. My blemishes and spots were reduced and my skin looked brighter - I was really impressed with the results! 

Repurchase: Maybe (the full size is quite expensive)

August 12 
Eslor Comforting Mask ~ sample - $38.00 for full size. Helps eliminate impurities that dull the complexion for a deep skin cleanse. Made from natural marine extracts full of minerals and vitamins known to soften the skin. It tones and detoxifies improving oxygenation and hydration.

I received a whole Eslor introduction set quite a while ago in one of my subscription boxes and I can't believe I hadn't tried the mask yet! This one was surprisingly a really cool bright green color! It went on really easily and worked well. It took a couple of rinses to get off, but I liked it! Thought it made my skin feel good and deep cleaned! 
Repurchase: Maybe! 

August 13
The Face Shop Real Nature Mask Lemon ~ $2.00. This mask illuminates your skin and gives you a flawless complexion! Enriched with lemon extract with brightening properties, it will even out your complexion in an instant!

I have said a bunch of times that The Face Shop masks are easily my go-to! For only $2 I really like them! They do fit slightly big but can generally use the tabs and have them fit well enough. This one came with extra essence that I applied to my face first. I thought the lemon mask worked worked and visibly reduced my blemishes and dark spots! 
Repurchase: Yes

August 14
Mizon King to the Kong No. 1 Moist King's Berry Mask Sheet ~ approx. $2.50. This mask is described as a moisturizing facial mask that brightens skin for a hydrated glow!

This mask had a terrible fit - it was so big and it did not adhere well at all to my skin. It did not have enough essence so it did not last long as well. Blah.

Repurchase: Nope

August 16
Lovemore Rosa Hybrida Whitening Mask Sheet ~ $22.99 for set of 5 - usually ranges from $2.50-$5.00 with online retailers). Organic Yamagata Rose permeates your skin for a beautiful red glow. The climate is beautiful in central Taiwan and is a natural paradise of flora and fauna. The Yamagata rose is famous for its fragrance. They are 100% silk sheet masks and feel amazing on the skin!!! These masks stretch out a fair bit if you aren't careful applying them, but if you are careful they fit really well! This mask lasted for 40 minutes and made my skin feel really good after using this mask!
Repurchase: Yes!

Royal Skin The Animalian Mask "Sheep" ~ $3.37 (3000 won). Cute animal-character mask sheet for moist and vitalized skin.

How hilarious is this mask?! This sheep is hilarious and I received it in a special Mask Genie pouch! I love wearing animal masks - this one had a good amount of essence and lasted for 25 minutes. It was funny, but it was nothing special in terms of results. 
Repurchase: No, probably not... 

August 19

August 20

Cosrx Applezone Power Patch ~ set of 4 for $13. What is the apple zone? It is the T-shaped area on the face from the highest point of the cheekbone, the skin skin just beneath the eyes and just before the jawline. It's an area that is easily dehydrated and often most exposed to irritants like UV rays and pollutants, resulting in acne and accelerated signs of aging. The Applezone Power Patch is a patch-type mask that targets these troubled, vulnerable areas to help rejuvinate and hydrate the skin. 

So these are basically under the eye gel masks, but come in a big T shape so they go quite a ways down your face - it actually looks really bizarre. These masks adhere to the skin well and last a good length of time, but I was not a fan of the shape. I didn't think they did much and did not see any real benefit. 

Repurchase: No

August 22
Nip + Fab Dragon's Blood Fix Plumping Mask ~ $14.95. An intensely hydrating gel mask combining multiple skin perfecting complexes to plump the look of wrinkles and refine the skin's appearance for a brighter, more youthful looking complexion.

This has a nice cooling effect on the skin and was a really nice light gel formula. The mask didn't dry or harden on the skin making it really easy to rinse off! I really liked this (but it does have a bit of a strong scent to it - I happen to like the scent, but some people may not). Repurchase: Maybe, I will keep trying it out before I decide!

Bath Time Box Exfoliating Clay Mask ~ 2.5 oz. for $9.50. This mask featured Moroccan Rhassoul Clay, combined with Kaolin Clay, cucumber and papaya extracts and vegetable glycerin for a gentle exfoliation. Use sparingly, as a little goes a long way. 

I just received this in a Bath Time Box and reviewed it on a Mask Wednesday - you can view the detailed review here! This a thick texture mask and has the slightest hint of lavender scent in it which makes it feel so relaxing! This clay mask did not feel tight or itchy when it dried, but was a little difficult to rinse off. I liked this! 
Repurchase: Maybe, will keep using this mask first!

Evercos Herbal Mask "Licorice" ~ 10,500 Won for 5 ($8.93 USD for 5) = $1.79 USD per mask. For keeping your skin bright and moist forever.

This is a lesser known k-beauty brand but I am excited to use these licorice masks as they are highly raved by some well known k-beauty blogs! I have done a detailed review on this mask before - you can check out the full review here! I really love this mask - it lasted over 1 hour on my face, fit well and made my skin feel so soft! 

Repurchase: YES

August 28 
To Go Spa Coconut Eyes ~ $4.17 (pack of 3 for $12.50). Hydrate, Nourish, Soothe and Moisturize your under eyes leaving them refreshed and rejuvenated.

These masks are really awesome for under the eyes - for a real boost put these in the fridge first! These are pretty good - I love eye masks for how quick they boost under the eyes and brighten. These ones did a great job! 
Repurchase: Likely

Innisfree Skin Solution Mask "Hydrating" ~ $2.00. Mask pure cotton, not through bleaching. Hyaluron is concentrated with high moisture. Dry and rough skin moisturised.

These masks are amazing - the sheets are organic unbleached cotton and they feel really great on the skin! I love these Skin Solution masks - I wish they were easier to get in Canada, but I order them when there is a sale! This mask delivered on the hydration for sure - my skin felt great after!
Repurchase: Yes! 

August 30

Biorepublic Cucumber Breeze Soothing Sheet Mask ~ $4.99. An ultra-soothing facial mask infused with natural cucumber extract, plant collagen, and vitamin e that soothes stressed skin and improves complexion, tightens pores and reduces appearance of fine lines.

These masks are okay - it was quite a big fit on me. It did have a good amount of essence and made my skin feel good, but was nothing outstanding. 

Repurchase: Probably not with how bad it fit... 

August 31

Sephora Collection Face Mask "Pearl" ~ $8.00. Each of these masks is infused with a different active ingredient for relaxing the skin and achieving a brighter, more revitalized complexion. The fiber masks perfectly hug facial contours for better penetration of the active ingredients.  

I just reviewed this mask on a Mask Wednesday post - you can see a more detailed review here! This mask is a thick fiber mask and the fit is huge - like really huge. This mask did make my skin brighter, but at $8 a piece they should be mind-blowing. 

Repurchase: Probably not 

For August, altogether I used 25 masks in August! I am impressed with how many masks I was able to use and I think I had a pretty good variety as well!
