May 2015 - Month of Masks in Review

Masks are a big part of this routine and since I have come to love this routine, I have incorporated so many new masks in to my routine! I love trying different brands and different types of masks! Hopefully after this post you love masks as much as I do!

Hope you like this idea and are interested in seeing lots of masks reviews!!

May 1
Lush Fresh Face Mask "Catastrophe Cosmetic" ~ $9.95. A cooling, calming, deep cleansing blueberry mask for sore and troubled skin.
This mask is AMAZING! (I have featured it before on a Wine + Mask Wednesday and you can check out the full review here, and also it was featured in April's Monthly Mask Review). It smells amazing and I had to use it by May 3rd, so I finished it up!

May 2
Viicode O2M Oxygen Mask ~ $55 for 6 treatments. This mask works to make the skin around your eyes firm and smooth, thus eliminating wrinkles and lightening dark circles by strengthening and healing the skin.
I reviewed these for a Skincare Sunday post - check it out here. They are eyes masks that you leave on for 8 hours (overnight) and they work their magic. I really liked these masks and I thought they helped reduce puffiness. They are expensive though.

May 5
Innisfree Trouble Care Mask ~  $1.92. Unbleached pure cotton mask that reduces redness and brightens the skin.
I bought a ton of Innisfree masks when they had a buy 10, get 10 free deal and have really been liking them. The unbleached cotton masks feel really great on the skin. The Trouble Care had a ton of extra essence that I applied to my skin first and it felt so good! I really like this one for when my skin just isn't looking it's best!

May 6
Nature Republic Hawaiian Fresh Mango Pack (Wash Off) - $12.99 for full size (pictured above is an individual use size). Mango extracts offers full of moisture to skin to create healthy skin. Moisture capsule bursts when it touches to skin and soothes skin. Hibiscus takes care of pores and sebum. Mineral of deep sea water offers vitality to skin under stress.
I received this in Beauteque Mask Maven bag as a bonus item for ordering a 3 month subscription. This was featured on a Wine and Mask Wednesday and you can see the whole review here. This mask had a pudding-like texture and had a nice light scent to it. It went on smooth and rinsed off easy - I liked it!

May 7
Hanaka Pomegranata + Q10 ~ $2.18 (5 masks for $10.90) This is a Botanic Treatment Reviving Mask for Resiliency.
I received this initially in the April Beauteque Mask Maven (and then again in the May bag), and this mask awesome! I included a picture to show how it fit because in my mins, this is the best fitting face mask I have ever worn! It was also incredibly soft to wear and had a lot of extra essence in the package! I am in love with these masks and will be buying more!!

May 8
Arezia Eye Mask - Wrinklelift, Moisturizing, & Eliminating Under-Eye Bags ~ $5.90. Whitening, long term moistening, eliminating dark circles, increase elasticity in eye region, and prevent the formation of dark circles.
I received this in the April Mask Genie Mask Pouch - you leave these hydrogels on for 20 minutes. I have to start off by saying this package was hard to open - and these eye masks are super delicate so in the opening process I mad a big rip in the middle of one of the masks. These aren't overly saturated so they hold nicely to the face and did not slip off! I noticed improvement with my puffiness, but I did wish the packaging was a little easier to use!

May 9
Nature Republic Snail Solution Mask Sheet ~ $3.40 ($17 for 5). Contains snail mucus filtrate to create moisturized and healthy skin.
I received this in March Mask Genie Pouch and am always excited to try anything snail-y! This mask had no extra essence and was not as saturated as most of the sheet masks I am used to! It did fit well on my face and my skin did feel better after using it!

May 10
Viicode O2M Oxygen Mask ~ $55 for 6 treatments. This mask works to make the skin around your eyes firm and smooth, thus eliminating wrinkles and lightening dark circles by strengthening and healing the skin.
Repeat! I like to use these on Sunday nights so I look refreshed and awake for work on Monday mornings!

May 11
A'pieu Take my Hands Nail Sheet Pack ~ $4. Nourish nails and calm cuticles with this moisturizing and fun treat for fingers! Wear for 10-15 minutes, then remove and massage remaining essence into skin.
I received this in the March Beauteque BB Bag. I featured these on my Manicure Monday post, for the full review you can check it out here. I wasn't really sure what to think for a finger mask so my expectations were not very high - they were much better than I expected! They make your nail beds/cuticles feel awesome!

May 13
Missha Pure Source Sheet Mask "Honey" -$1.99. Pure cotton sheet mask enriched with Honey ingredient, makes your fatigued skin firm, glowing and moisturized.
I received this in a Beauteque Mask Bag and featured it on a Wine and Mask Wednesday (you can see that review here).
I liked this mask - the essence absorbed well in to the skin and the honey made my skin look brighter.

May 15
Skinfood Broccoli Mask ~ $0.90 (5 for $4.52). High fitting soft mask sheet. Provide healthy and glowing skin.
This mask was very thick cotton but was waaaay to perfume-y for me (it made it hard to wear!). There was no extra essence in the package and actually dried up before the time was  up. Probably not a mask would I would use again.

May 16
Innisfree Skin Solution Mask "Total Care" ~ $1.92. Unbleached pure cotton mask to reduce wrinkles and brighten the skin.
Again, I have been loving my Innisfree Masks. This one had a ton of extra essence in the bag and was sooo soothing on my skin!

May 17
Lush Love Lettuce ~ $9.95. Love Lettuce is our exfoliating ground almond mask that scoops up dirt, oil and debris and washes it all away. Exfoliation is an important part of good skincare, as it removes the buildup of dead skin that can clog your pores and cause impurities. Love Lettuce is a great example of how just a few ingredients can make a fresh, effective product for the skin. We blend calming French lavender oil with seaweed and honey to nourish and soften skin, and to balance oily T-zones.
I featured this mask on a Skincare Sunday review - you can see the whole post here. It was very exfoliating and did make my skin feel great! It was a little hard to wash off and I get a small chunk of almond shell (added for exfoliation) in my eye while rinsing off - so just be careful when removing this mask!

May 18
My Beauty Diary Black Pearl Total Effects Black Mask ~ $3.78 ($18.90 for 5). Free of parabens, alcohol and fluorescent agents, this facial mask from My Beauty Diary contains Tahitian black pearl essence with rich vitamins, minerals and amino acids to pamper tired and dull skin. 3D hyaluronic acid molecules lock in moisture, while deep-sea red algae and mallow extracts make skin smooth and soft.
I think these black masks look so cool - and this one was a 3D fit so it also fits right under your neck. My skin felt really great after using this mask, I would buy this mask again!

May 18
Viicode O2M Oxygen Mask ~ $55 for 6 treatments. This mask works to make the skin around your eyes firm and smooth, thus eliminating wrinkles and lightening dark circles by strengthening and healing the skin.
Repeat! I use this one on a Monday night (of a long weekend) so I looked refreshed in the morning for work!

May 20
SNP Animal Tiger Wrinkle Mask ~ $1.50 - $5. Strengthens the vitality of skin, minimizes wrinkles and prevents the appearance of age. Softens rough skin, moisturizes and gives a healthy glow.
I love the animal masks - I featured this mask on a Wine and Mask Wednesday - you can see the full post here. I liked the look of this mask, but I did not fins it very moisturizing - my skin felt a little dry after using it.

May 22
Humanpia Costech Daylight & Hue Arbutin Mask ~ $1.80 - $2.95. Shining ingredients containing the extract ARBUTIN. So that external stimulation of the skin transparent and healthy. Water-soluble mask pack to restore flexibility.
My skin was feeling very dull and blah and needed a boost! This mask had a ton of extra essence in the pouch and the mask was a very thick cotton. It didn't have as many tabs to fit my face as I like, but I thought it fit well. It worked and improved the appearance of my skin.

May 24
Lush Love Lettuce ~ $9.95.
Repeat - using the green mask again!!!

May 24
The Face Shop Bright Eyes Modeling Gel Patch ~ $2.31. Exclusive eye patch that offers vitality to slack eyes.

They are hydrogel masks and went on so smoothly! They had just the right amount of essence to adhere to the face and they did not budge! I really liked these - I would repurchase!

May 25
Etude House Korean Ginseng ~ $0.95. This mask sheet contains nourishing Korean Ginseng extract (Panax Ginseng Root Extract), enhancing a youthful complexion by revitalizing exhausted and lifeless skin.
I received this mask in the Beauteque Mask Maven bag in April and May. It sounded very good and I thought I would use this to improve the look of my skin. This mask had a very thick white/milky essence in it. It had a herbal scent and was okay. I actually thought my skin was worse the following day and I wasn't happy with this.

May 27
Nuxe Masque Crème Fraîche de Beauté ~ $29. A source of well-being and immediate freshness, this moisturizing mask with Plant Milks and White Blossom provides intensive moisturization even for the driest of skins. A rescue skincare, it provides intensive relief, instantly soothing skin discomfort. Hydrates and soothes for 24 hours, leaving skin radiant.
I featured this mask on a Wine and Mask Wednesday - you can view the post here (and received it in the November Glossybox). This mask is different in that you leave it on for 10 minutes and instead of rinsing it off, you rub it in to your skin. This was very moisturizing and felt good!

May 29
The Face Shop Rice Mask ~ $2. A mask sheet that has rice extract keeps the skin spot-free and bright.
This is honestly one of my favorite masks to use! Every time I use it, it makes my skin so bright and refreshed! I love this one - I always go to the Face Shop and stock up on these!!! It is a must when your skin just needs a perk-up!

May 30
Klorane Smoothing and Relaxing Patches ~ 1 set for $2.57 (7 sets for $18). These soothing eye patches refresh, moisturize and brighten tired eyes. Formulated with a unique combination of cornflower to naturally soothe and reduce puffiness; arnica to drain the eye contour; and chamomile to refresh and provide anti-inflammatory benefits. Eyes are instantly brighter with bags and lines visibly reduced.
I just received these in the April Ipsy bag and I used these for my Bachelorette Party - to perk up my eyes before wine touring and after a night of a few too many margaritas! They worked well, but I found them a bit too big around my eyes. They did secure well and didn't slip and slide which was nice, but I thought they took up half of my face instead of just my under eye.

May 30
Humanpia Costech Daylight & Hue Essence Sheet Mask "Cucumber" ~ $1.80. Concentrated high moisture and nutrition for cleaning ones skin, helps skin relax from fatigue and stress.
So, I may have used this one at the very end of my Bachelorette party and it was late at night after a few too many drinks and some late night partying, but I remembered my skincare! I brought this along specifically to use at the end - I knew my skin was going to need so moisture and refreshing at the end of a busy weekend. And it was a good idea - my skin felt great at the end of the weekend!

I hope you like seeing my month of masks - I like to look back and see what kind of masks I used and what worked/did not work for my skin!
I recommend using masks at least twice a week for your skin, but you can certainly use them more often (like I do!!)

  1. I love your Month of Masks post - it gives me so many ideas. I was in Red Deer the mall last weekend and never made it to Lush -- small town living has its downfalls! I have noticed lots of masks at Shoppers Drugmart so I will have to check some of them out.
