I've really been enjoying a lot of the Pixi Beauty products I've been trying lately, so when I saw one of their newer Rose product launch, I really wanted to try them - I love a glowy blush and tinted lip!
I purchased these products on my own - this post contains affiliate links
Pixi products are readily available at Shopper's Drug Mart and they are somewhat on the "higher end" of drugstore beauty in terms of price; but I think they are still reasonably priced and they have some products I really love - their stick blushes, the liquid lipstick, the glow tonic, all great!
Both of the product in this newer +Rose line are also labelled as "The Thoughtful Choices at Shoppers Drug Mart" - this lineup is curated to help make it easier for you to shop consciously. All products with this seal are (at a minimum): Cruelty-free; Paraben, phthalate, SLS/SLES, formaldehyde, BPA & aluminum salts-free; and mindful of our planet. So, if that's something you take in to account, then it's good to know!
Pixi Rose Lip Nourisher ~ $14.00 CAN. Pixi +Rose Lip Nourisher is a lip balm infused with rose to smooth and nourish lips. Formulated with a hint of tint and shine to give a sheer colour.
I have to mention, I love the packaging of the rose collection on the boxes - I somewhat wished they had carried on a little bit to the actual packaging of the product itself. This is meant to offer moisture, shine, treatment, and a little tint on the lips.
I was quite surprised with how bright of a pink the actual lip balm was, a little brighter than I was expecting! However, swatched on the arm, it was a little closer to the rosier colour I was expecting.
Now, weirdly on the lips I thought it pulled quite, light babyish pink on me instead of a rosy hue I was looking for.
I didn't love the shade, and I didn't get the finish or the results I was hoping for - this didn't really fell like a super moisturizing formula, it was a little drier than I was expecting and it didn't have a shiny rosey finish I was hoping for. So honestly, it's not something I would recommend for $14 - the Burt's Bees Pomegranate gives a more moisturizing tint, or the ColourPop Lip Oils if your looking all the same results.
Pixi Rose Glow-y Powder ~ $24.00 CAN. Silky soft, Rose-infused multi-use powder can be used as a veil of blush or highlighter. It adds radiance and a touch of glow as it brightens and enlivens the complexion.
This is described as a radiance powder and can be used as a highlighter or blush depending on your skin tone or how you'd like to use it. The shade was super pretty and I thought this would be a great blush shade on me - be warned, it is a lighter formula so more of a blush topper, but this is also incredibly shiny (and I was expecting shine, seeing as how it's called a glow-y powder).
Here's a look at the powder swatched on me - it's actually a much lighter pink shade that what's reflected in the pan in my opinion.
And, here is the Glow-y powder swatched on my - seriously, super shiny and "glowy" but to me, not in a good way. I wanted this to be a rosy glow on my cheeks and instead it's a bit of a metallic pink wash that enhances texture that I'm not really loving the effect of myself. There stick on-the-glow blushes are much more worth the purchase than this!
Here's a look at the Rose Glow-y Powder and Lip Nourisher on me - while they don't look terrible, both are shades that I will not be reaching for personally on my skintone.
Having really enjoyed lots of products from Pixi, I was really surprised that neither one of these formulas was something that I was happy with. I tend to try and keep my reviews mainly positive here; but, when I'm really trying to stick to a $200 budget between books and beauty, I'm only bringing so many new products in to my collection, so naturally I will have to share if some of those products end up not being great!
