Five on Saturday - April 9, 2022 ~ Gallant Book Review, Sonic 2 Movie, The Ultimatum, Clothing Unhaul, and Dollarama Finds

Happy Friday everyone - I hope you all had a good week! Mine has been long you guys - Elliott has been a bit sick all week and we've had a few days at home, but yesterday, he was crying about his ears and it took us 3 clinics to get in as a walk-in and a 2 hour wait, but we are on the mend now!

ONE

I was invited to the movie premiere, I purchased everything else in this post - this post contains affiliate links

I'm so excited to share another great read - I recently finished Gallant by V.E. Schwab and this book was a little different than I was expecting, but, I really enjoyed this! This is a young adult fantasy novel, with a paranormal horror twist!

We are introduced to our main character, Olivia Prior at an all girls school - she is different than all the other girls and a bit of outcast because she doesn't speak and she can see ghouls. At the school a letter arrives to invite her to her family's home, Gallant; but, when she arrives, no one at the house and they want her to leave. But, as she stays and explores the house, she discovers a second duplicate house where the Master of the House has much more sinister plans.

I enjoyed Olivia's characters and seeing her story play out! I loved the house of Gallant - the descriptions of the house, the family, and the paranormal twist were all so good. It was a little spooky without being scary and weird and a little dark. It had very haunted house vibes and it was a fun quick read. The book is gorgeous too - I love that it has some illustrations and I love that Indigo has signed copies. V.E. Schwab writes so many different books - I love her variety and that she knows she writes books for different audiences. This was a solid 4.5 star read for me!

TWO

Last weekend I was very lucky to be invited to the Sonic 2 Movie sneak peek and we loved! I went with a friend and her little guys and everyone enjoyed the movie! It was perfect for kids, but had enough adult humour that we all laughed the whole time! Such a fun morning!

THREE

Alright, new Netflix show alert (you know I love some trashy dating shows) - The Ultimatum started and it's somewhat a more "grown up" version of temptation island. But, I'm a few episodes in and it's pretty addicting, I'm sure I will be finished the available episodes by this weekend!

FOUR

Also this past weekend, I managed to do a bit of a clothing unhaul - I did a huge one a year or two ago, but I just needed to clear out a few things I wasn't wearing and made sure everything fit. I already listed an auction and some items on marketplace and got back about $100 so far (whatever helps because I ordered a few new items). I always needs new tops - where is your favourite store to buy tops from??? Let a girl know!

FIVE

Alright, we have a Plants vs Zombies party coming up in a few weeks and lookie at my Dollarama finds for the party - buckets and cones for zombie party hats! I'm trying not to go too crazy, but I couldn't resist these!

I hope you all have a good weekend!
