JVN Embody Daily Volumizing Shampoo & Conditioner and Complete Hydrating Air Dry Hair Cream

I picked up a few products from the JVN Hair Line when it was released back in September, and I waited a little to use it, but I have been using the products for a while and am ready to share my thoughts on them!

I'm a huge JVN fan - I started watching them when I was introduced to "Gay of Thrones" on youtube, and seeing their career take off has been amazing; they certainly know their hair! I love Queer Eye, have read their book and of course even watched their new show, Getting Curious! 

Celebrity brands don't always call to me and I usually wait for reviews, but honestly, JVN knows hair, so first the brand felt really suitable to them, and two I felt confident that JVN knows hair and would release good products! This line also gets the "Clean At Sephora" label and they are sulphate and silicone free and vegan friendly.

Upon launch, JVN released 3 shampoo and conditioner lines: Embody for volume, Undamage for strengthening, and Nuture for hydration. I have fine and thin hair so I decided to test out the Embody line as it sounds like what my hair needs! 

JVN Embody Daily Volumizing Shampoo ~ $24.00 CAN. A sulfate-free shampoo with a luxurious lather that builds body and bounce without drying out your hair.

This is meant for all hair types and is good for thinning hair and is meant to volumize and is safe for colour treated hair. It is meant to remove buildup without stripping, add bounce, body and shine to the hair, and enhance fullness! It uses Squalane and hemi-squalane to improve hair health and strengthen the hair, caffeine to support hair growth and aloe leaf juice to sooth the scalp! 

This is a thin, clear texture - it offers a gentle lather in the scalp (definitely less of a lather than some shampoos I'm used to), but I understand because of the ingredients. I enjoyed this while I was using this and agree with the healthy looking hair claims - I personally didn't get a ton of volume from the shampoo myself, and it didn't quite give me two days without looking greasy and needing dry shampoo on day 2. While I enjoyed the smooth look, I think I am going to give another one a try next time!  

The scent is described as lush jasmine, sparkling cassis, and radiant bergamot accent rich notes of sandalwood and amber - it is the same as the conditioner. I think it's like a nice salon smelling scent and a little floral, but I like it. 

JVN Embody Daily Volumizing Conditioner ~ $24.00 CAN. A clean, volume-boosting conditioner with biotin that gently detangles and increases manageability without causing buildup or weighing hair down.

This is also meant for all hair types and is good for thinning hair and is meant to volumize and is safe for colour treated hair. It is meant to gently detangle, add bounce, body and shine to the hair, and hydrate the hair without weighing it down. It uses Squalane and hemi-squalane to improve hair health and strengthen the hair, biotin to thicken the hair, and bamboo extract to add volume and shine. 

This is a thick formula, and smells like the conditioner. It smooths nicely on the ends of my hair and I do think this helped add smoothness and shine to the hair and it looked healthy and hydrated! I do like the overall results of the conditioner more than the shampoo. I'm excited to keep trying more and I think I will try the Undamage line next! 

JVN Complete Hydrating Air Dry Hair Cream ~ $30.00 CAN. A frizz-fighting soft styling cream for buildable, touchable hold that lets your natural texture shine.

This is a styling cream that is meant for all hair types and it meant to target frizz, add hold and define texture (curls, straightness, etc). It is supposed to softly style, moisturize and smooth frizz, it defines hair's texture without crunchiness or weighing hair down, and protects hair from uv damage. It uses Squalane and hemi-squalane to improve hair health and strengthen the hair, chia seed extract as a natural film-former, and moringa seed oil for softness, shine and luster. 

Spoiler alert if you follow my Monthly Favourites - this made my Favourites in October 2021. I really enjoy it! I'm not actually normally one to reach for a styling product, but I've really been enjoying it! I only use a tiny bit of product as my hair is thin - I think this helps with detangling, but it's great at helping with frizz and flyaways. It certainly adds a little hold and makes my hair look healthy! 

Here's a look at my hair with all the products - I've used the Embody Shampoo and Conditioner as well as the Air Dry Cream. This is shortly after use - I do think my hair looks healthy and smooth and I'm happy with that. I wish I got a bit longer out of the shampoo before it got a little greasy looking, but the other two are great. I'm interesting in trying the Undamage line next!
