Five on Friday - October 1, 2021 ~ Monthly Makeup Baskets, National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, September Scratch Monthly Mani Kit, and New Vacuum!

Happy Friday everyone - hope you all had a great week! I've been in Edmonton most of the week for some work training, so it's been a pretty quiet week for me! Also, How tf is it October already?!

ONE

I purchased the products in this post - this post contains affiliate links

I have been keeping up my Monthly Makeup Baskets throughout this pandemic; but, I am finding it a little hard to use everything in a single month as I am wearing masks all the time. So, for now, I am going to do bi-monthly baskets just so I can get a little more use out of the products that I'm using!

Here are the products I'm focusing on for August and September:
  • Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed Highlighter in Rose Glow ~ this is past favourite highlighter - it's gorgeous highlighter and I love the hint of pink on the cheeks!
  • Illamasqua Beyond Powder Highlighter in Deity ~ This is such a gorgeous highlighter - it's very shimmery and has this gorgeous illuminating finish! This highlighter is perfect for Summer!
  • Danessa Myricks Beauty Vision Flush Blush, Eyeshadow and Lip Color in Bread 'n Butter ~ this is a newer product to me and I love that it is multi-use - I have only tried it a little on my cheeks, so excited to test this out more!
  • Cheekbone Beauty Face Palette in Stardust ~ this is a gorgeous face palette and it made my September Favourites last year - I really love Cheekbone Beauty and I love this set. They have since reformulated this line, so I can't speak to the new formula yet, but I love the shades in this palette!
  • Note Cosmetics Luminous Silk Compact Blusher in Desert Rose ~ this was a past favourite I received it in a past subscription; but, I honestly forget about it when I'm not putting it in these baskets - it's a lovely shade and I great formula, so I should reach for it more!
I'm excited to get more use out of all of these!

TWO

And, before we start the new Monthly Makeup Basket, here is a recap of what I focused on for the previous two months:
  • Rodeo Drive Highlighter by OFRA Cosmetics ~ This was an old favourite, and it is pretty; but, I did a massive declutter, and I just have enough highlighters like this that I'm passing this on!
  • e.l.f. Bite Size Face Duo in Spiced Apple ~ This is such a gorgeous duo and I reached for this all the time - these are some of my favourite face products!
  • Buxom Wanderlust Primer-Infused Blush in Ibiza ~ This is a very pigmented formula blush, and honestly, it's like the Note blush, I love it and focus when it's here, but rarely reach for it otherwise!
  • L'Oreal Paradise Enchanted Scented Blush in "Fantastical" ~ this is an older blush and a redundant shade in my collection - I did also declutter this blush this month!
  • Jouer Powder Highlighter in Funfetti ~ I got this fun, shimmery highlighter in a Christmas set a couple of years ago, and while it's pretty, it's not something I reached for at all - it did not survive my declutter either!
  • Natasha Denona Mini Blush and Glow ~ something that did survive was this lovely duo - also one of my favourites and not going anywhere!
How are you guys making sure to focus on older products in your collection?!

THREE

Yesterday was Canada's first marking of National Truth and Reconciliation Day - unfortunately, Alberta is choosing not to declare it a statutory holiday (how they can do that I will never know), so I still had to work, but certainly used the time to educated, donate and act! Did you use the opportunity to grow and learn more about or history?

FOUR

I just got my September 2021 Scratch Monthly Mani Kit and as always, they are super cute - these aren't usually the style I go for, but these are still fun! This is an easy, affordable subscription that features nail wraps from GoScrachIt that are exclusive to the kit each month and designed by NinaNailedIt!

The Scratch Monthly Mani Kit is $18.00 US monthly with free shipping everywhere! Each month you get an exclusive set of wraps that aren't available for purchase and a little extra mani goodie with it!

This month's subscription came with:
  • Patterns nail wraps
  • gradient nail art brush
I have to say, these nail wraps are easily my favourite nail wraps to use - I have tried quite a few wraps and nothing compares! You can see past reviews and nail looks on Scratch wraps here if you are interested!

FIVE

Is being an adult getting excited about vacuums?! Because seriously, my old Dyson ball died the other week and I was rather excited to upgrade to a cordless model and seriously, what a gem! I picked up the Dyson v11 and I love how light and easy it is to use, especially with 3 floors of house to clean! Also, it works so well - woo hoo for me!

I hope you all have a great weekend!

  1. I am using up makeup SO SLOWLY because of mask-wearing at work, but maybe I'll finally hit pan on some of these eyeshadow palettes I've accumulated over the years!

Also, VERY sad that Alberta chose not to recognize National Truth and Reconciliation Day...
