Manicure Monday - Butter London + Pantone 2018 Color of the Year Nail Lacquer "Ultra Violet"

Happy Manicure Monday everyone! I think I did a purple manicure last month; but, really, you should expect purple to pop up a fair bit around here as Ultra Violet is the Colour of the Year! And, while I will try and incorporate the colour in to make up looks - it just screams nails to me and looks so good on them!

Butter London + Pantone 2018 Color of the Year Nail Lacquer in "Ultra Violet" ~ $10.00 US/$12.49 CAN. Butter London is proud to partner once again with Pantone, the Global Color Authority, to introduce the Color of the Year 2018. Meet Ultra Violet, a provocative purple that speaks volumes and takes us to a place where imagination runs wild. Leave it to Butter London to bring you an extraordinary collection packed with sophisticated colors and dreamy textures inspired by Ultra Violet's magical thinking. Look beyond the ordinary and check out violet's new vibe.

I didn't realize that Butter London partnered with Pantone to create a Colour of the Year line; but, not only does the line include 6 polishes in varying shades of purple, it also includes lip glosses, liquid lipsticks, eye gloss and eye liner! There is some really pretty shades in this whole collection!

I picked this up while I was in Ulta on my trip to California - this was the only bottle in the whole collection by the til in the location I was at or I think i would have picked up a few other shades to try as well! I think it's available to Canadians at Nordstroms - if you know anywhere else this Butter London line is available I would love to know! Their polishes are also an 8-free formula which is great!

For this manicure, I used:
-Butter London + Pantone in Ultra Violet
-Nails Inc polish in Rainbow Wishes
-Formula X nail cleanser and base coat
-Sally Hansen Gel Top Coat

This manicure was really straight forward to do! While I love the deep purple of the Ultra Violet polish, I did want to lighten up the look a little with an accent nail or two (I find it so hard to think of nail art ideas when my nails are short so as they grow out so I need something to add a little glitter or shine as they grow out!)

Both polishes are pictured with 2 coats of polish on and topped with the Sally Hansen Gel Top Coat.

I love these purples together - I have been waiting to use Rainbow Wishes again! It is just such a stunning iridescent polish and it makes the perfect accent to the Butter London Ultra Violet polish! I liked the Butter London formula - I thought the polish went on really smoothly and was fully opaque with 2 coats. It had a really high shine finish and the colour is gorgeous!

My only critique is that the brush is a little small and thin - smaller and definitely finer than a typical polish brush (but it is in a smaller bottle so that could be why!) After using big brushes from Nails Inc and Essie Gel Couture last year, it is a little hard to go back to working with little brushes - they just require more brush strokes that make it harder to get a perfectly even coat.

So, I know this polish look is simple; but, I'm actually in love with how these polishes look together!
