December 2014 TopBox - Canadian Beauty Box Review and Unboxing

TopBox is a Canadian Beauty Box Subscription - for $12 CDN a month with free shipping (I pay $12.60 each month with tax), you will receive 4 deluxe sample size or full size products. You fill out a beauty profile and generally receive products based on what you have identified in the profile. Also, every month you have the option to wish for a "prive" box. A prive box is a box that focuses on one brand or product for the whole box.

TopBox is a Canadian company and only ships to Canada. The only downside to subscribing to TopBox is that there is a wait-list that can take a month or two to get off of.

For December, I selected the "regular" topbox - none of the Prive boxes jumped out at me!

Here is my December 2014 TopBox:
Here is a closer look at the products:

Yves Rocher Grand Rouge Lipstick in "Violine Lumineux" ~ full size 3.7g for $19. A long-lasting lipstick with intense color that glides on and feels like a second skin, thanks to its moisturizing formula with Camellia and Sesame oils, and Vitamin E. This lipstick is very highly reviewed and I opened it to see the color. It is a little too dark for my preference so I am going to pass it on (It is very rich and is a great winter color!)

Marsk Natural Mineral Eyeshadow in "Black Comedy" ~ full size 1.2 g for $22.50. Natural and cruelty free eyeshadow - can be used dry or wet for different looks. This is a lot of black eyeshadow - I will use it for eye-liner and smoky eyes. I would have preferred a different color as black eyeshadow is not something I use often, but it will still be used.

Refresh Botanicals Facial Toner ~ sample size approx 15 ml for $1.42 (full size is 200 ml for $18.99). Use after cleansing and pay special attention to oily areas. I do use toner as part of my skin care routine and will use this one, but this is a very small sample size - will only last a couple of uses.

Kinetics Nail Polish in "Ice Smoothie" ~ full size $12. Developed from a double-patented formula, Kinetics nail polish has plasticizers that facilitate smooth, easy application supported by saturated pigments for vivid, crisp colors. I like the color of this polish - purple is always nice.

For $12.60 ($12.00 + tax) I received 4 items with a value of $54.92. While this box has a great value, this isn't my favorite TopBox - the lipstick and eyeshadow are a little dark for my preference, and i do like the toner but it is a little small. On that note, it is a well rounded box with a good variety of products and 3 are full sized!

  1. I received Marsk eyeshadow in Seaspray which is a seafoam green, the Kinetics nail polish in Up the Rocks which is a cobalt blue, a Barefoot Venus Argan Dry Body Oil, and 4 foil packets of Eslor skin care products. These were a disappointment to me. I saw that others had received them in previous boxes, and I hoped I wouldn't get them. I really do not like to see foil packets in my Topbox. I have contacted them previously to let them know this.

    1. Yes the Eslor packets are not well liked with customers - I do actually like the products inside but the packaging is disappointing! I love anything by Barefoot Venus - how is the dry body oil?

    2. I have tried the Dry Body Oil (Sugar Leaf Collection). It smells and feels fabulous. I have also previously received two Barefoot Venus hand lotions and the fragrances are divine!
