Okay, I really enjoyed doing this last month with my Sephora haul last month - I've picked up a few new goodies this month again and instead of doing individual reviews on each of them, I thought doing a collective haul, thoughts and swatches here!
Like last month, there were a few new releases that have caught my eye - the new Urban Decay concealer (they used to make my favourite concealer and then it got discontinued), the new Danessa Myricks Yummy Skin Blurring Balm blush also caught my eye and I'm so excited to try both of them!
I'm still planning to stick to my beauty and books budget of $200 per month, so I'm making sure my purchases are thoughtful and hopefully I'm enjoying everything I'm picking up! Here's a closer look at what I picked up:
Danessa Myricks Beauty Yummy Skin Blurring Balm Powder Flushed - Matte Color for Cheek & Lip in Rose N Brunch ~ $30.00 CAN. Inspired by our award-winning Blurring Balm Powder, this buildable, soft matte formula blurs and smooths cheek and lip with all day wear.
This is a product I was really excited about - I love the Blurring Balm Powder as a primer for me, so when they introduced a blush version, I knew I wanted to try it. This uses upsalite to help control sweat and sebum, squalane to smooth skin and hyaluronic acid to promote skin hydration. The shade Rose n Brunch is described as a "neutral rosey pink" and it's lovely!
Here's a look at the full swatch and then the shade buffed out below. This is a gorgeous formula - either apply with fingers and blend out or apply with a blush. After using this for the month, I prefer two or three dots on each cheek with my fingers and then blend out with a brush. It dries down well and wears lightly as a powder blush. This is fantastic, and the original blurring balm is great in warm weather at controlling sweat and so I imagine this blush in the Summer is going to be fantastic as well!
Urban Decay Quickie 24H Multi-Use Hydrating Full-Coverage Concealer in 40NN ~ $40.00 CAN. A dual-ended concealer that gives you a real-skin finish for up to 24 hours.
Okay, I was pretty excited that Urban Decay introduced a new concealer because they used to make my favourite concealer (the Naked Skin Weightless Complete Coverage Concealer) and then discontinued it. If I'm being honest, I was really hoping this would be a similar formula to that as it's considered a full coverage, but real skin looking concealer. I picked up shade 40NN described as "light medium neutral". I will say, this says it is a dual ended concealer and it's not - it comes with a wand and a brush, but nothing comes out the brush top, it's just for blending.
Here is a look at the Urban Decay Quickie concealer swatched - it's a thick formula, and it does dry quickly. I realized that you can't apply to undereyes and spots and expect it all to blend out. Also, the brush is really dense on the top of this, but my sponge and other brushes pick up too much product so it only works with the brush on top. I do think it offers good coverage, and it wears fine - it does show my lines, but doesn't over emphasize anything. This is a decent concealer and I will use it all (it's huge) but it's not my favourite new formula!
Makeup By Mario MoistureGlow Plumping Lip Serum in Blush Glow ~ $31.00 CAN. A hydrating, melting, glossy balm—in a range of inclusive shades—that visibly plumps lips while delivering a dewy, shiny finish.
This isn't a new product, but this has been a hyped up tinted lip balm, and that is my favourite type of lip product. This made a few favourites last year and I have never tried Makeup by Mario product before, but this formula has made me want to try more from the brand for sure! The shade Blush Glow is described as a "sheer spiced pink".
Here is a swatch of Blush Glow - this is lovely! This formula is a glowy and gorgeous, but also this is a slightly plumping formula - not a sting your lip type formula, but adds a little minty tingle and just adds a nice fullness while it's on. It wears for a couple hours and is easy on reapplication.
Here's a look at the Danessa Myricks Beauty Yummy Skin Blurring Balm Powder Flushed on the cheeks, the Makeup By Mario MoistureGlow Plumping Lip Serum on the lips and the Urban Decay Quickie 24H Multi-Use Hydrating Full-Coverage Concealer under the eyes and on my pimples! I do like all of these products!
Glow Recipe Fruit Babies Bestsellers Kit ~ $44.00 CAN. A complete skincare routine of five fruit-forward, clinically effective bestsellers for glowing skin.
I love Glow Recipe, so I'm excited to try these 5 formulas that I haven't tried from the brand yet - I needed a few travel sizes for an upcoming trip! This set includes the Avocado Ceramide Moisture Barrier Cleanser, the Watermelon Glow PHA +BHA Pore-Tight Toner, the Strawberry Smooth BHA + AHA Salicylic Serum, the Watermelon Glow Niacinamide Dew Drops and the Plum Plump Hyaluronic Cream! I haven't dived in to these yet, but I've heard all great things about them!
I'm pretty happy with this haul - I'm also posting a video on my instagram trying them all out and swatching everything, so you can check that out too!
