I love Holo Taco polishes, so I'm always staying up to date with their releases - when they came out with this little duo for the season, I couldn't resist this set (along with the Glow in the Dark polish that I used last week) as the shades were so pretty!
Holo Taco Favourite Sister polish ~ $14.00 US. She is my Favourite Sister… who also happens to be my only sister. Designed by Simply Nailogical’s sister Jen, this bright red frosted metal polish is fit for a blood relative. Make your nails reflect like red foil with a sprinkle of scattered holo so you can one-up all other siblings.
This is a gorgeous bright red - this is the shade in natural light. It is a beautiful foil, with jusy a hint of holo glitter.
Here is a look at Favourite Sister indoors - I love that this polish was made with her sister and it's so great. I can see myself reaching for this foil red all year round!
Holo Taco Double Dare polish ~ $14.00 US. Grow one year older… we Double Dare you. Simply Nailogical is celebrating her villain origin story this year with a daring shifty limited edition shade. The audacity of this polish… to consist of a black-to-red multichrome base with scattered holographic microflakes AND reflective red glitters… how dare it be so hauntingly beautiful.
Okay, this polish is super stunning in the bottle - it's this deep black to red shift and it's gorgeous, but honestly this is the polish in natural light and it just doesn't translate the same on my nails with two coats.
Here is a look at the polish inside - again, it's pretty but just looks like a deep black/purple. I'm wondering if this needs another coat or two top coats. Any tips?!

I was so disappointed with this that I thought it was user error. I was almost embarrassed that I hated the grey jelly base and need for multiple coats that end up with blah, almost black plum with barely any shimmer. And that's with the Holo base and top. It absolutely *ate* 2 layers of top coat and I got decent smoothness with 3. Obviously I waited too long to return it because I put it away like the regretful mistake it was. I just came across it in my collection today and went looking for reviews. This sounds so dramatic, but there was so much hype during the live stream, I was happy to snag a bottle, and I felt like I would hurt Cristine's feelings. 😅 Just wanted to let you know after all this time that you weren't alone. 😏
